Sweet, he's out! I thought he was safe on that one replay angle. We all had differing opinions on soxtalk. -

I'm not in the mood for a walkoff loss. But I fear one is coming cause Sox offense is so challenged. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) That was the point Greg. You have to agree with one of those 2 sentences because they contradict each other. If the GM put plenty of talent on the field then for them to all be this bad then the coaches did a terrible job. If the Coaches did a fine job, then the GM spent $50 million to put a terrible team on the field. Good point. I don't dispute you know your baseball, I just don't always agree with you. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2015 -> 03:55 AM) Make him player/coach like Don Kessinger....with Paulie as the bench coach. Or Moises Sierra. Or bring back Kessinger right now. He's still allive and may want to redeem himself. p.s. Lexi loves that spin; worked that time. Nice play ss. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2015 -> 03:34 AM) Coaches can't make up for the poor talent on the field no matter how good they are. The GM put great talent on the field and there's no way anyone can question the job this GM did putting this team together. How is that unclear to you? I disagree with your second paragraph. GM hit the jackpot with Robertson and Beckham and maybe Duke. Verdict not so positive on Melky and LaRoche and Boni. Many on here know I despised Dunn but I see little difference between he and LaRoche. Dunn actually might be, gulp, better, if he signed on for one year at 2 mill a year. -

Hate to say I told u so, but Beckham HAS to be in this starting lineup! Beckham is so much better than the hitless wonders we've had at 2B. Congrats on the deep blast! Tie game. -
QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) i am going to play the devils advocate. unless the sox owners and FO are really afraid of pulling the trade. 1. the team has finally turned it around or appears to have turned it around. 2. afraid that the fans will really abandoned the sox. Who cares about the fans? If we win big they will come; if the Sox continue to flounder they won't.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) Great read by Sam Smith: http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/samsmith/thi...ry-start-finish This is why college coaches like Hoiberg who are beloved should "just say no" to the NBA unless all they care about (and this is possible) is making a few million more per annum. Smith wrote: "It’s why the shelf life of the NBA coach isn’t long; in his fifth season, Thibodeau ranked fourth senior NBA coach with his team. The other three all had won titles." Hoiberg won't last more than 2-3 years with Chicago unless the Bulls win it all which they probably won't.
-
For some reason, after reading everything, I have a feeling Thibs is a "take this job and shove it" kinda guy. He didn't play nice with the Bulls' corporate suits who frankly probably are buffoons compared to Thibs. As far as Hoiberg, maybe he'll think better of entering that circus once he thinks about it. He'd be a FOOL to give up Iowa State for the NBA. He can probably get some more money out of this deal and remain a hero forever in Ames versus a guy destined to be fired in Chicago. Pretty un-classy of the bulls to say they expected more in the Cleveland series when f***ing Gasol got hurt and Rose is as brittle as well, a rose flower. The Thunder were idiots, total idiots, in not waiting a few weeks to hire Thibs over the college guy. Who has the worst front office in basketball, Thunder or Bulls?

QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) Who would have guessed that at this point in the season Sox 7 GB, Astros 6 games-up in their divisions. Amazing. 21-25 is such a s***ty start for the Sox. Even 25-21 wouldn't have been too bad. -
Robin is so blah to lousy he's had some people on this board actually say they'd rather have Ozzie. Ozzie's come a long way in that he was despised the day he left the team for good.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 29, 2015 -> 03:27 AM) Beckham has to play 3B because they don't have anyone there either. Sanchez is fine for now. No offensive production out of 2B is definitely not what is killing this team. Yes, but Sanchez is not a big leaguer. He just isn't. At least Beckham is a big leaguer. It's an embarrassment to have to play somebody at a position incapable of getting a hit. True, Gillaspie is lousy, but at least he proved last year he could get a hit every four at bats or so. If we settle into Gillaspie/Boni, Lexi, Beckham, Abreu, at least on paper that's an average to slightly below average foursome. Put Sanchez in there and it's abysmal.
-
Guys, we cannot play a second baseman incapable of hitting the damn ball. It's a joke, really. Beckham at least is a fricking big league hitter and is not a sieve with the glove. Play him! This is a last place team, at least play a major leaguer at 2B.
-
It's time to make Gordon Beckham the starting second baseman. Case closed. Sox can't afford to have zero chance of a hit out of its second basemen! This should be a NO BRAINER!
-
Chris Sale was marvelous and the Sox committed no errors. Also LaRoche got 3 hits.
-
QUOTE (harkness @ May 28, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) Chris Davis hitting 300 against LHP but now lets go get the righty! Leaving Duke in was fine IMO. It's not like Petricka is great. Glad Petricka got the save, though.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 27, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) I've said it all season, but Hahn needs to sign this dude to an extension. Build your team around a rotation of Sale, Shark, Quintana, & Rodon and you should be able to be legitimate contenders each year with even an average offense. This year might be a lost cause, but I honestly think we can fill the black holes at 3B & C this coming offseason if we're willing to move some of our prospects. Obviously this all assumes guys like Melky, Eaton, etc. return close to their previous form. Let other teams pay these guys 25 million a year. It's just stupid to pay a pitcher huge bucks for more than 2-3 seasons. They WILL be hurt.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 27, 2015 -> 07:24 PM) They don't have good people running the minors either. Rumor has it the word "sell" is coming up in the organization. Even with that the same inept people will probably remain for a while. All the people in the minors need to go. Please sell to Mark Cuban. It's time he gets in baseball and we need a second coming of Veeck.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Our current LF and CF arent going anywhere so they can get off that list...but the rest, yeah those need upgrades. Melky might be the acquisition that gets Hahn fired. No power for a guy in a power hitter's body. Bad fielder. He is pretty much useless in modern, non bulked up baseball. -
Good win. I saw this one as one of the 60 you will win all year no matter what. Sox can't get swept by everybody. Abreu is a great hitter. Good to see LaRoche line an RBI single late.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 27, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) I think he had just about had to do it. He would have been cruxified on this site if Robertson blew it again but the decision was sound and worked Good decision by Ventura. Bringing in a hack reliever could have been fatal. Robertson had to wrap this one up and worry about the DH tomorrow. I would assume Duke will close in Baltimore. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) glad to see him keep Robertson out there to finish it off. Need him to be confident. I don't think we need to worry about him being confident. When Robin came out to the mound you could tell he was calm and confident like "I got this." -
