  1. LOL. Hunter blasts a HR foul then hits one fair. He shoulda been signed by the White Sox long, long ago.
  2. Melky five feet short of a homer. Abreu whiffs. He's free swinging.
  3. Wow. Wow. Wow. Pure class for a class guy! Everything about it was special.
  4. I was thinking about stereotypes today and wondering if they were true. Republicans: An ornery, selfish bunch of well to do money grubbers who have decided it's their way or the highway. They will in no way cooperate with a Democratic president and will try to block any idea of that democratic president good or bad. It doesn't really help them get elected, but they do that anyway. They are against helping people who are down on their luck and pretty much are elitist, rich snobs. (PLEASE RATE MY STEREOTYPE). Democrats: A group of people with an inherent advantage because the media abhor Republicans and want Democrats to run our country at any cost. Are very weak leaders and have no clue how to even start getting those Republicans to pass their measures for the betterment of the country. Pretty much a passive, blase group that is satisfied just being in power, not getting anything accomplished. Have the right idea wanting affordable or even free health care, but again have bad ideas as how to implement this without bankrupting the hospitals and getting doctors to seriously consider other professions (PLEASE RATE MY STEREOTYPE).
  5. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 23, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) HA! Oh, I have, and with very good reason. The results of Jerry Reinsdorf's 35 years at the helm of this franchise have been a disaster. He has only one season during his tenure as owner that he can point to and really claim to be an exciting and successful one - '05. During the other 34 years, the team only won the division a measly four times, and the playoff appearances those four years were anything but memorable. And then we wonder why the fan base is dormant. Why we have to operate like a small market team because the team Reinsdorf routinely runs out there is not postseason caliber. That is really a horrible record of futility, no matter how you look at it. No sustainable success for three and a half decades now. Meanwhile, over the years he's publicly fought with the likes of Harry Caray, Carlton Fisk and Larry Himes while remaining unapologetically loyal to people like Kenny Williams, Buddy Bell, Robin Ventura, etc. He dumps Harry Caray and WGN in the '80s in favor of SportsVision. He hires Hawk Harrelson to be GM and ends up losing Tony LaRussa in the process. He blackmails the state of Illinois to build him a new stadium while also providing him with a sweetheart lease deal, and then turns around and directs the construction of an abysmally designed ballpark. He fires Himes who drafted Frank Thomas, Ventura, Jack McDowell, Alex Fernandez, Jason Bere, and who traded for Lance Johnson and Wilson Alvarez, claiming Himes got the team from "point A to point B", but he didn't think he could get the team to "point C", i.e., the World Series. In his judgement, Ron Schueler was the guy who could do that. How'd that work out for us! It could have happened in '94, except the Chairman chose his burning desire to break the players' union over the World Series aspirations of his team and fans that year. Terry Freaking Bevington! White flag trade. The list goes on and on and on with this failure. This franchise is in desperate need of new leadership, strategy and vision from the very top. That is very clear. Jerry Reinsdorf has been the owner now for 35 years, and he holds claim to a very unimpressive record of achievement. Yes, the WS championship in '05 was amazing, but that does and cannot mask the other 34 years. The White Sox need new ownership. It's that simple. Not a bad post. I think most of us give Jerry a pass because he did deliver one WS, which isn't bad. As far as the Sox fans who are praising the Cubs in any way, please stop. That's just silly and senseless. Screw the Cubs. They've been a total joke. If this rebuild turns them into a perennial title contender like the Blackhawks in hockey, then we can talk. But for now, please, the Cubs are an ultimate joke.
  6. CNN said tonight the bikers may be targeting police vehicles to blow them up. My gawd. Throw all these bastards into prison and throw away the key! Barbaric. Hope these bastard bikers are ready to do the time when they do that crime.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 23, 2015 -> 04:09 AM) The way things are going I doubt that. I think that will only change when other people run this organization. You may be right (lyrics, Billy Joel). ... I was thinking that baseball hasn't done the Sox any favors either with the unbalanced schedule. I can't see the Sox becoming an organization that can beat those Central teams consistently. We're always going to be the big-city team that the other teams in our division want to beat. Sox are so nonchalant and noncompetitive (blah might be a better word) against its own divisional brethren that a .500 record any year overall in the Central would be a helluva record. I can't believe baseball cow-towed to Steinbrenner who wanted to play the Red Sox 19 times a year and agreed to this bulls*** unbalanced schedule. Sox would fare much better playing all the teams, not the boring Central Division squads. Sox fans are smart ... who the hell wants to go see the Twins, Royals and Indians all the time? Not our paying customers.
  8. Some great posts on this thread I can't even comment on all of them. Great stuff, folks. I will say it's going to be weird when we have a GOOD team again. I mean the team has shown signs the last few years, the nights the Sox bring it. The overall record hasn't been god-awful, but the team has been (unfortunately not Joe) maddening the last few seasons. Even Ozzie's last team or two was bizarre in the way it lost games. I have to be a fan, it's in my blood, but again ... I'm gonna be so happy when the team gets legitimately good again. Sorry to say that WILL NEVER happen UNTIL the defense improves (to go with pitching as least as good on paper as this year's club). It just won't. When you have a crappy defensive team you are going to be .500 at best.
  9. I wonder how Micah is hitting in the minors. The shine on his star is definitely faded after that medicore showing in his debut (following all the raving by Hawk last season).
  10. No biggie. I wish they'd send him down. It's like he's on the team, but really isn't. He hasn't been overly impressive, either. His stuff hasn't been explosive by any stretch. I despise Noesi and am not a Carroll fan, but can't we pick up a Chen type off the scrap heap and have him be No. 5 this year. SEND RODON DOWN for proper seasoning.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 23, 2015 -> 02:33 AM) Bob James says hello. Bob James? You Bob James, are no Robertson. Knew it was joke, impressed u recalled James though.
  12. I worship Robertson. Best closer we've ever had in our lifetimes (when healthy knock on wood). So glad we beat this s***ty Twins team at home, which we should do 90 percent of the time. Soto and Shuck and Shark, oh my!
  13. Do the Sox front office types ever do their homework and project correctly? I mean, couldn't they watch EXTENSIVE tape of LaRoche and study perhaps 200 of last year's at bats during the cold winter months and project that maybe they should pass on a guy like that? What else the f*** do they have to do in the winter? Study some film. Call some sabes guys you trust, Bill James disciples. Have some meetings. Then Make some correct decisions. Shouldn't they study a Flowers, all his at bats from a year ago and say, 'You know what? He can't hit.' Shouldn't they study 200 at bats of Melky closely and deduce he's nothing special as well? Ditto all the subs they picked up like Boni and Shuck? And ugh, Soto?? And determine Gillaspie is just another guy? I have nothing against LaRoche but I would think a detailed study of last year's at bats (how he tries to pull everything and couple that with his age) would tell an organization, "He's not the answer." The Sox get what they deserve. I'm finally to the point I'd rather see a parade of young players from our gulp, minor league system, or somebody else's play until they fail. Then move on to the next guy. I don't care if Davidson fails. I'd rather see him get called up and given a chance than watch veterans suck.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 22, 2015 -> 01:35 AM) Time to wonder is Minn going to sweep again against the hitless wonders. Somebody needs to write a thesis or long essay on WHY the White Sox are perennial patsies to Minn, Cle, KC and Detroit and send Greg a copy ASAP!
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2015 -> 03:25 AM) Before firing Ventura, I would can the hitting coach first to see if someone else can help these hitters. It's unimaginable that 8 of them could be underachieving this much. I have four words. Call.Big.Frank.NOW!!!! Hire him the rest of the season.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 22, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) This team on offense gives fans no reason to attend or watch. Diehards only at this point. Just saw the box score and caught up on the game and thought the same thing. This team, until further notice, is the worst in the Central cause it CANNOT beat anybody in the fricking Central. It's just insanely unbelievable. Teams like this attract only the diehards. Nobody that is not a diehard would go to the Cell this summer more than 1-2 times max.

    2015 TV Thread

Letterman's final show was really good TV. The final montage was great and the show was funny. The Dave/Taco Bell skit, which was shown, is a great all-time bit.
  18. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 21, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Forgive me if this has been discussed, but are all these Hillary quotes true I just read somewhere? I think they came from people that worked on Clinton's staff etc. They make her sound like a horrible human being. Just looking for the real scoop on all that. Thanks, D. Put it this way. Nobody's going out of their way to say she's a peach of a human being. Where there's smoke, there's fire. We went through this discussion before and somebody on here was kind enough to post all the negative quotes and debate the accuracy of them. I mean if Hillary Clinton had a great personality, we'd know about it. I'm not going to call her a b****, but I'd like to watch a debate on this issue between people who know her. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) I'm not sure you can be a successful politician without being a horrible human being. Obama seems like a nice guy.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) I blame Robin. He doesn't get into Abreu's face after a bad AB. Show some fire. Show some passion. Your good posts get overshadowed by your whiny posts IMO. At least put green on these type comments to show a sense of humor. Since you brought it up, Robin pretty much deserves a C- for his overall body of work with the Sox IMO and that's being an easy grader.
  20. If the Sox lose 3 out of 4 at home to Cleveland, that's really really bad. It's almost as bad as losing four of four at Minnesota. What is with this team? Are they really gonna give back three games of the six-game win streak to a s*** team? Must win tonight.
  21. It's funny cause Obama is just like most of us. He loves the White Sox, wants the Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls to win but the Cubs just don't interest him. That's certainly how I am. I just can't follow the Cubs. I have no interest even though they are a Chicago team and them winning would be good for the entire city.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) If you don't believe in Petricka or Putnam, why are they even on the roster? Just for mop up? Does Ventura even look at the splits for Jennings? You just can't give up 3 runs in that inning. As Farmer and DJ always say, runs scored by the opposition from the 7th inning on have a way of coming back to bite you in the end. That was especially the case tonight. And Conor's got to be a bit more patient in that situation. The pressure's 100% on the pitcher. Same with Avi. I sure don't believe in Petricka or Putnam? Both are not the answer.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:38 AM) Keep losing to crap teams. Sox don't like playing those Central teams.
