  1. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:41 AM) the winning streak already feels like a really long time ago... The board has some perceptive people. It sure does. Won six in a row. Lost two ... and counting? We gonna give all six back? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2015 -> 04:55 AM) "Oh well" sounds like the perfect marketing slogan/tagline for Sox fandom these days. Amen, brother. That's what we have done as fans for several years in a row now. "It's still early" you know? QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 05:15 AM) Shaun Marcum picked up his first win in two years he was 1-10 with the Mets in 2013 and J. Ramirez was hitting .185 with an ugly .237 OBP before reaching four times tonight This happens to the Sox way too often. Another great comment. I mean, why the Sox? Against Marcum??? At home? Oh well, we're only one below .500 which is this team's ceiling.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) Very little urgency Sox remain bizarre. All those comeback wins, then tonight again. I guess that's the definition of a perennial .500 to .485 team.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:32 AM) I wish our guys would take pitches like this. That's why it sucks to have a team that rarely draws walks. In this day and age of asshole umpires who squeeze when they want to squeeze, it helps if you'll take some pitches and draw some walks. Why do umpires love to squeeze pitchers? It's very boring. Make batters hit or ring them up. Geezus.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2015 -> 03:44 AM) So many holes on this team. I don't blame Robin for starting Jennings this inning, problem is to many players just aren't good on this roster right now. Yeah, our bullpen is starting to look more like past years, except for the amazing closer of course.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 20, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) have you not paid attention to American politics for the last six years? By "hard to believe" I meant I find it amazing or impossible to believe Republicans are against affordable health care for people. I mean it's not their fricking money. Do something for people, Mr. Brownback.
  6. Thanks Balta and Caulfield for finally putting some specifics. I am all for continued health care. I find it hard to believe all Republican candidates are against that but after seeing Brownback in action I can believe anything. Thing is, we don't need Hillary for that. Other Demo candidates if they chose to run would also be in favor of Obama's plan continuing.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) This is a well cited and convincing case. You have supported this with a huge amount of detail, enough to convince anyone who is skeptical of what you say. No offense to you at all, but whenever I post something mean about Hilly and ask questions of people, I get nothing in return. I'm a little concerned that voters indeed are tossing her the Oval Office as some sort of appreciation gift for her merely being 68-69 years old. A lifetime achievement award. Nobody will take me up on my questions about a.) why she should be president and b.) how happy you will be (and why you will be elated) on Election Day when the Republican candidate gives his/her concession speech.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 19, 2015 -> 11:54 PM) A Giants fan in L.A. and a Yankees fan in Boston or vice versa is in more danger than Sox on Sox chippiness. But yes I have also been harassed although in stadium not to the point of being followed and harassed. It was during a Sox/Dodgers game with my 2 children ,who were visiting from Arizona (their home with their mother) and my father (visiting from Chicago) a very rare occurrence that all 4 of us were in the same place together. So odd that just rooting for your team in a foreign stadium and wearing the colors can provoke people to harass a man with his children and their grandfather. Young men can be so irrational. Nothing major happened thankfully but what should 've been an enjoyable time ended up pissing me off . Man, what a story. Very sad that this goes on in sports stadiums. Let's face it. Sports are not healthy in many ways. Obsessed fans threatening people; riots after teams win (or lose) championship games. Very sick when sports fans go to extremes. I mean your story is amazing. A grandpa and little kids and fans still freak out just cause you are wearing the opponents' jersey? f***brains.
  9. I'd trade him to the Royals in a deal involving Colon and maybe two good minor league pitchers.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 20, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) How many pop ups to first can a guy hit Alexi? Sit him Wednesday. The Sox don't have much punch on the bench. Beckham has been a pleasant surprise.
  11. I didnt see the errors Hawk is talking about "giving 'em two of the three runs." But I do know bad defense will prevent this team from beating the Royals head to head and probably keep the team under .500 overall. We shall see. The bats probably will heat up dramatically in the summer.
  12. Ah the game of baseball. Tonight the Sox just plain looked like a lousy team again. We all know the past few weeks the Sox overall have looked very good.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:53 AM) He had a huge double vs Abad last Friday. He earned himself more chances vs LHP after that Fair enough. Sox really needed contact there. I'd have preferred Beckham trying to at least put ball in play.
  14. Avi got frozen there; that's why the toughest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball. You'd think he could poke that one to right but it's not that easy to do I guess.
  15. For Robin to take that next step (he's been doing great lately) he has to have the balls to a.) not let LaRoche bat in a situation like that starting NOW and b.) having the balls to take out Sale and Shark when they stubbornly want to stay in, ala Peavy/Verlander and guys like that. Fail tonight by Robin. LaRoche may have cost us any chance of a comeback win there. He just can't hit a lefty. Time to factor that into strategy!!
  16. Let's face facts. We know LaRoche won't get a hit here. So let's not second guess but first guess. Do you go with Mr. Soto? Alias Mr. DP? Or do you let LaRoche try to hit a fly ball to make it 3-2. I am assuming no way he gets a hit. Who else you want to pinch hit if anybody? Is Beckham playing tonight?
  17. Wish Abreu would have slammed that first offering. It was meat, but the walk is productive. Cmon LaRoche. Hit a lefty!
  18. Nice hit by Eaton. Melky baby, almost stroked one. On a hot night, HR??? f***.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:36 AM) Putnam is not a fastball pitcher and Flowers called for a high one when he has been throwing splitters the whole time which nobody was touching. It was stupid. I guess, but I tend to blame the guy throwing the ball. I do know that Soto is lousy as well.
  20. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:34 AM) You know, if Putnam didn't like it himself, he could have shook it off and demanded something else. My sentiments exactly.
  21. Flowers doesn't thrill me but why do people blame the catcher for a pitcher's incompetence? Putnam is no star.
  22. Damn, people are wearing hats and winter coats.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) Bad approach and Alexei had an awful AB with bases loaded Ugh. Bases loaded failure. I'm not a Putnam fan BTW.
  24. Just tuned in. Why are the Sox not scoring tonight?
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2015 -> 08:18 PM) Please tell me what these experts bring to the table and why I should believe a word they're saying. because this sounds like another heap of conspiratorial garbage. I'm not sure but I've read reports we are in deep trouble financailly and I've seen the social unrest.
