Nice, Sale realizes 109 pitches are enough. Robertson time.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 13, 2015 -> 02:31 AM) The incredibly small chance of Sale going nine innings is gone, which is fine by me. Pinch-hit for Sale in the 9th, hope you can get a run or two, and then have Robertson close it down. I bet he asks Robin to leave him in.

Funny how you don't dare take out aces like Sale, Verlander (when healthy), Peavy (when he wasn't old). They won't come out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Dan Hayes retweeted Christopher Kamka This would be the 1st time #WhiteSox have ever started 2-13 on road if they lose, according to @ckamka. Dan Hayes added, Christopher Kamka @ckamka The last time the White Sox started a season 2-12 in their first 14 road games of the season was 1942. Ineptitude. Blow it up. Start looking for the right manager for next season and begin planning a buttload of trades and target some youngsters who can play.

What should the White Sox do with Carlos Rodon?
greg775 replied to Dam8610's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is pretty simple really. Leave him in the minors in his starting role until he is ready to pitch all season in the majors. This team is going nowhere. Let him develop then next season when we have a whole new core of key players after the firesale we'll have a good 3 of Sale, Q and Rodon. -
The Sox road record is embarrassing. That's pretty much all that needs to be said.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ May 12, 2015 -> 05:08 AM) What about Shark, who lost this game? If Sox stink, it'll be a whole different core next season. All these guys are moveable.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ May 12, 2015 -> 04:29 AM) I'm done with this franchise until Reinsdorf dies. Busted organizational philosophy that starts at the tippity top, and is executed by long-time buffoon KW. The trade of Semien for "Shark" is the perfect illustration of everything that is wrong with the franchise (along with the endless run of dips*** managers): Zero interest in developing young talent internally, zero appreciation for those few prospects with real "baseball" skills, and a desperate, needy affinity to go "All In" and mortgage the future when everyone else in the world knows you don't have a prayer. The Sox should just move to Quebec already. Not a bad post, Andy. That trade was DUMB. Shark I'm afraid is just another guy. He's average, just as Danks is average. Seriously, what's the difference in Danks and Shark. They often pitch pretty well; often get hit hard.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 12, 2015 -> 04:08 AM) Jerry will want Ozzie back. Hopefully Joey Cora is available as well. Where is Cora now?
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2015 -> 03:48 AM) Cannot see LaRussa leaving his executive gig to be Sox manager under any circumstance. Does he miss the dugout? It's addictive and these guys have huge egos. Sox fans would worship him like Cub fans worship Maddon.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2015 -> 03:40 AM) Thome or Konerko. Richard Dotson... I know Konerko isn't ready...and they can't possible force Thome on the fanbase after this, not without any official minor league managerial experience. Going with Dave Martinez would be cool since his mentor's on the north side of town and he's a former Sox. Sandy Alomar, Jr., was a finalist the last time as well. If we have to go the former player route, I wouldn't mind Thome being interim the rest of this season. I still want Gardy/LaRussa/Leyland, one of those 3. I personally think LaRussa is ready to come back and the proper wooing by Jerry could land him.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2015 -> 03:34 AM) Just when you start to believe in them, they break your hearts again. Almost would have been better getting blown out, sign. Because that at least gives them the 'ol, "well, they fought back and made it a game...just expended too much energy in tying it, etc." argument for protecting the status quo. At least it was an enjoyable game. Crowd was into it, at least it sounded that way on my mlb. I have such low expectations this season I enjoyed the final few innings. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2015 -> 03:36 AM) There were some very good signs from the offense (mainly, Eaton remembering the season started). Just have to get the pitching to at least put up decent numbers to give the offense a chance. Resurgence of Eaton was nice. I'm not trying to be a dick, but I see tonight's loss as a bad baseball team playing OK, simply getting beat. Bad teams usually get beat in one area or another. Finally get some run production, so the pitching sucks. It's usually always something, at least on the road for this abysmal road team.

Lousy pitching. Shark continues to be mediocre and Zach finally got hit and hit hard. White Sox currently remain a lousy baseball team. Avi with the unusual 0-for-5. Flame away but I will not miss Shark when we deal him at the break. I mean he's a battler, don't get me wrong, but like Peavy, he's hittable, very hittable.

For some reason, I feel it won't be pretty having Abreu play third base. First of all, teams that don't get a minimum of two bunt hits a game won't be trying. Second, I just can't picture him dazzling with the glove at 3B when he is blah to lousy at first.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 11, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) I actually wonder if winning will solve the problem. The White Sox have been a losing team but they have 2 of the top stars of the game in Abreu and Sale. Now obviously Sale only goes every 5th day but last year Abreu was a stud and yet attendance declined. Good news is attendance is up a few thousand this year but they are still one of the worst drawing teams in baseball. Abreu and Sale are awesome, but the team blows. Remember all those horrible home games last year when people in the game threads lamented the poor fans who had to watch so many of those awful games. If I lived in Chicago I'd want to see Abreu in person maybe 3 times a year regardless of how bad the team was. If the team was good, I'd want to see him a lot.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 8, 2015 -> 02:15 AM) I'm honestly thinking there is nothing to lose at this point. Not like Soto has done anything to retain his backup job. Soto arguably is worse than Flowers.
-
What a wild article. Basically at this point the team cannot have performed much worse. Thing is, I don't see it improving, only getting worse. It STILL is incapable of putting anything together for an extended period of time. It just doesn't seem capable of ever getting hot but is extremely capable of dropping bundles of games as proven in Minnesota and overall on the road. Not only are the Sox technically bad as that article states, but mentally they are oh, so bad. It doesn't matter who the leaders are, year after year they just keep on being Team Dysfunction. When you fear a double play, they hit into a DP. When you fear a messed up bunt, they mess up a bunt. When you fear an out on a stolen base, he's out! They did win four of six on the homestand so we shall see if they can win a road series or two or continue sucking.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 11, 2015 -> 07:01 AM) Like No Doubt but do not like Gwen on her own. As for Metallica, absolutely despise them since the bulls*** Larz and James pulled over the Napster deal. Shame, I was a Metallica since '85, that ship has long sailed. Not trying to piss on your parade Gregg, just responding is all. The good thing is you had a great time and that's what counts. Edit to add: I did go see Metallica in 97 and I have to admit, they put on a hell of a show. Thanks roostifier, i'll have to google theNapster deal.
-
Did any of you go to Rock N Roll in Vegas over the weekend or watch it on Yahoo Live? I watched No Doubt Friday night and Metallica Saturday in lieu of bed as they came on last. Both concerts were awesome. My question to you is: Do you think Gwen Stefani is hot at 45? I do. Do you like No Doubt? I do. Do you think Metallica guys are over the hill at 51? I don't. I thought they were awesome. Rate the bands please. Rock N Rio was a good show IMO. Linkin Park was good too.

What should the White Sox do with Carlos Rodon?
greg775 replied to Dam8610's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I voted for sending him down and starting him there. If he's on some weak innings count this year, he might as well do all the work in the minors. -
I'd sign Beckham for a two-year deal 5 million a year.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 10, 2015 -> 09:16 PM) IN 2014 we were 14-23 in games decided by 5 runs or more. 3-7 in those games so far this year. 7-21 in 2013, 26-16 in 2012. Just what I suspected. Sox don't win many blowout games. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 11, 2015 -> 01:16 AM) If your closer can't pitch back to back, he ain't much of a closer. It's nit picking to blame Robin for Robertson's performance. Obviously he wanted and needed work Saturday in the 8-2 game. He hasn't pitched a lot at all this year. Cooper had to have had input as well as Robertson. Robin's not going to get fired so we all might as well deal with that.
-
I wonder what percentage of the White Sox victories the past three years have been what you would call blowouts? Like yesterday's 8-2 win. It seems like the Sox don't win many by the blowout variety. Today, just have to hope to keep the Reds down and win a walkoff.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) Meanwhile, Danks 6 innings, 1 run He's not the greatest pitcher in the world but he does battle out there and his stuff is still better than a lot of the hacks in the league. Not saying he's great or anything but he's not the worst, either.

Would be nice if LaRoche played first every day. He could be the good field/little hit guy we need who can actually field. Will Abreu agree to DH however? Abreu is a big ox over at first.
