Sox are in no danger of moving. They'll draw 20,000 to 25000 on the average this year, so why fret? If the team ever gets good again people will come. That is assured. As long as the Sox want to remain this weird dysfunctional baseball team, Jeckyll/Hyde if you will, screw 'em. They'll still make money with the TV deal and the 20000 to 25,000 average attendance.

Fire Robin. Cooper interim rest of season. Fun times watching press conferences with crabby Coop! Just do it. This team is going nowhere. Robin will be fine. He's no dummy. He knows he's been lousy albeit with lousy teams. Nobody can win with bad defense and no bullpen (til this year). Put him out of his misery and give him some other job in the organization.

White Sox at Twins Game Thread 7:10 PM CT
greg775 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Six hits ... 14 men left on base ... But it's early! I'd be all for shaking it up and firing Robin. Have an interim the rest of the year. It'd be entertaining seeing Cooper get a shot and have to deal with the media every day. This team is not going to be entertaining. It's still a dysfunctional unit. We can all dream of some magical run at some point but that's our only hope. Beaten again by Minnie! ps. Nice to see LaRoche bust out with 2 hits. Another bad move moving Micah up. He was doing just fine and comfy down below in the order. Just my two cents on this rotten team. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 1, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) Does it matter? Yeah. In a racially charged case with people rioting.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Also, what are the odds of them getting a fair trial? And I am not saying that to side with them. If they are guilty, they deserve prison. Well, we know a person died that shouldn't have. These six officers are in deep s***, or at least four of the six. I'd think the two with lesser charges will be headed to jail for multiple years as well. Considering I read Baltimore has 50 percent black police officers, it would be strange if all six of these charged were white.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Are the 6 cops charged all white? That would actually be good to know. I guess no media outlet wants to go there.
-
Not trying to make light of this, but CNN sending Geraldo Rivera to cover this is insane. People were yelling at him, pushing him. I'm really surprised somebody doesn't rip his toupee off his head. It would be legendary TV and in a riot I think that kind of behavior would be possible. Not condoning it but I half expected the one kid yelling at him to rip that toupee off.

4/30: White Sox at Twins, no crowd due to Age of Ultron

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 1, 2015 -> 05:03 AM) Eaton needs to be benched for a game or two. He's been brutal to watch. Yes. If he won't draw some walks to go with his occasional hits, he's not deserving of playing every day. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 1, 2015 -> 05:04 AM) Also just give Beckham regular starts at 3rd. That at-least improves the defense and maybe just maybe Beckham has found out how to be a competent bat. Yes to this. -
Not a bad article from a cop's perspective. http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/29/opinions/mos...lice/index.html As far as the news that Gray was killed by hitting his head on a bolt in the back of the car, the cops couldn't have shoved his head into that on purpose. I mean unless they were flat-out intent on committing murder.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 4m4 minutes ago #WhiteSox are just 61-110 on the road since the start of 2013. 9-2 score after three innings. Cmon, Robin. Wake up. ... We have obviously been patsies on a road a long time now. I'm glad Hayes looked that up. As a fan I know I've lamented a lot of lost series the past few seasons. I definitely have forgotten what it's like for the Sox to win road series on a halfway consistent basis. Team sucks big time on the road!

4/30: White Sox at Twins, no crowd due to Age of Ultron

QUOTE (Jake @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:04 AM) I think a big issue with expectations vs. reality is that we have a team with below average defenders at all but two positions, but it's hard to wrap your head around that compared to batting averages, etc. The other thing is that there are only two fast players on the team and several plodders. In those "little things" areas of defense and baserunning, you're looking at a near-league-worst team. We have to be really good when it comes to hitting and pitching to overcome that and it doesn't look we have it in us to do that. That's a great post. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) No, the last two games is on the aces. In terms of a turn around, the Sox have a chance that those Twins never had based on pitching. A rotation of Sale, Shark, Q, Rodon and Noesi has a chance to dominate. Cooper probably should remember how to coach. I'm not a Noesi fan even as a No. 5 starter. That rotation does have fierce potential now it's time to take the next step. So far this year the bullpen has been better than the rotation which is dumbfounding. -

Well, now that we're not playing the Royals and losing I don't get as mad (at least not tonight). I've kind of written off this season mentally. Unless this team magically clicks, I see it as one of the worst defensive teams in Sox history. Sorry if that's an out of line statement, but our defense sucks and I don't think it's hyperbole at this stage. Bad defense and dumb decision making is a tough combination to overcome. As far as the game, GLAD to see Micah go 2-3 with our only walk. I know Minnie only had two walks, but the Sox are too free swinging for me. I thought that'd improve with Viciedo gone. I guess we just have to wait it out. Melky and Garcia had two more hits which is nice. If Lexi, Eaton and LaRoche get their bats going we might eventually get hot. Don't know what to say about Sale getting rocked like that. Awful game obviously. Another blowout loss. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) If people are actually believing the Crips and Bloods to be the voice of reason, Baltimore is in a lot worse shape than anyone realizes. Yeah, the TV piece where the woman interviewed the gang members sickened me. They were saying they want no riots and peace. I mean these are f***ing GANG members. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) the B's and C's are nothing but a criminal org who is trying to get some fluff piece. if it was them who did the saying. I agree. I think they just wanted to get on TV. The CNN reporter was acting like they were some group trying to protect the city. They said "we are all brothers" and all of a sudden the Crips and Bloods were pals. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) I think the question people need to ask when judging here is, do you think the citizens of Baltimore have a right to protest over another example of police brutality. And if that is yes, would you forfeit your act of protest if subset of the group were destructive? Also, for Chicago. For as useless and stupid as the riots may be in each literal aspect, Chicago could just as easily be facing this soon. Their police dept. does many of the same things as was listed in Ferguson. They literally had a torture ring. They have poor performers, and the climate is right now that a violent police situation may tear this city apart too. This isn't just a Baltimore problem. So my point is, Chicago needs to get ahead, and not just plan for riots. Like...try to solve these issues. I think all mayors better be scared to death. Once a major city has a formal protest organized, especially if that protest is in the evening, it doesn't take much for the mob to start a riot. I mean what's going to happen when Baltimore has a downtown baseball game again and all those people are starting to congregate in one place. They better hope it's a good day and not the day they decide to press no charges vs. the cops in this case.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) So far, KC chose the right DH free agent. So did Oakland. I wanted Butler, Mr. Double. I'm not giving up on LaRoche, but I dislike what I've seen so far. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:59 PM) Not sure if it would have been a double play for sure but he should have gotten the guy out at 2nd for sure. Terrible defense on the corners, lousy defense in the outfield. Yikes. We all were pretty much in agreement this lineup would score a lot of runs and it's not been special. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) Sox are next to last in the AL in homers. This lineup just doesn't have any power outside of Abreu and LaRoche. It's hard to win a lot of games when you have minimal power and very few high OBP guys. Scary post but seems to be true. Davidson to the rescue and encourage Avi to elevate more? -

The bad Sox showed up again today. This looks a lot of the same to me, folks. Pretty much identical team to last year except our bullpen is a lot better and we might not blow as many games when we're acutally leading late. -
It's an unfortunate situation but couldn't be avoided. I mean how many times do you move games to another city because of riots? Baltimore had to wait this first series out then make accomodations for the next series. We get one game in out of the three, not bad. That would be neat if we could beat the O's in the empty stadium. I bet it's a fast game. It has to be a weird, depressing atmosphere. So they might as well get on with the game. I wonder if the players will talk to each other more than usual in this one. I mean there will be no outside sounds. Unless they decide to play the ballpark music as normal, which would be creepy. It also might incite people to storm the stadium.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 07:56 AM) When his contract runs out he'll have made over 35 million in his career. He'll be fine. I hate when these guys' bodies break down, though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) Orioles and MLB surely made the right decision...fan and officers' safety is paramount. They can't afford to bang the whole series, though, and try to make it up later in the season. They have to bang the whole series, caulfield, at least in Baltimore. I mean, my gosh, the fact it hasn't been canceled now as of 2 a.m., sickens me. Hopefully at 7 a.m. they will do the right thing and kill the series. This situation is ongoing and dangerous. If I'm a White Sox I take a stand and refuse to play. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:38 AM) These people are driving into parking lots in minivans. Just saw on CNN a minivan pulls into a lot. And no kidding 5-6 people get out , leave the doors in the van ole n , and carrying bags they brought with them enter the store and steal what they can. I'm telling you. The alarmists out there may be the smart ones. The ones who want to be armed to protect themselves in this crazy age we are living in. I mean, people grabbing bags to run amok in a mall? To steal stuff??? What the f*** is going on? QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) It's gonna be a crazy summer. Hopefully nothing happens in Chicago. This city is simmering as well. Scary post, Taylor. But I hear you. Very very scary. Gosh I would hate to see Chicago burn like this. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 02:12 AM) It's called civilized society man. The PD f***ing up doesn't give you license to become a criminal. Its a city run by blacks too. It's not Ferguson. This whole "the cops are just racist and have been for decades" excuse is just being abused at this point. I hope Baltimore implodes, anyone with money finally moves out and then the excuses can stop. Here's a point to ponder. I bet you half the thugs rioting don't know their mayor is black and their other city officials are mostly black. These cops are to blame also. My gosh everything is filmed on cell phones nowadays and their brutality finally will be exposed over and over. --Check out this video. How could these thugs burn down affordable senior housing and a church?? http://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2015/04/28/ct...s-in-baltimore/

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 01:47 AM) McCarthy out for season now. Between him, Ryu and Anderson's consistent dl record, maybe they could use a Danks at some point. Wasn't McCarthy hurt before? I feel sorry for the guy. His career has to be over, right?

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 02:04 AM) Baltimore should just forfeit the games. That's actually a damn good take. This is life, not sports. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) I am surprised they didn't figure this out tonight. Are they just hoping it gets better tomorrow? If they have a game everyone knows what will happen outside the stadium. It just isn't safe You know what? There will be buildings still burning and smoldering at 1 pm. Tuesday. There should be no baseball. I'll be very disappointed in MLB if there is baseball in Baltimore Tuesday. I know you don't want the thugs to win, but folks this is dangerous s***. I think the White Sox should refuse to play as well as the O's out of concern for their lives. Seriously. Anybody watching TV late at night can see this is out of control just 10 hours from a ballgame? Cancel the game, commish. I mean in this state of civil unrest, gangs could charge the stadium and get in. They could do anything at this point. How is this even being considered?? (playing games at this time). -
QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:02 AM) i have always said this, the police force puts themselves front and center on any crazy stuff. yet they are the forgotten heroes. the problem is, they started this crap as well. damn if you do damn if you don't LDF are you in Baltimore? Sorry for my reading comprehension skills. If so ... are you stuck at work? Is it really a war zone? Take care.
