Chicago is a war zone. This is very very very unacceptable and sad. 47 people shot over the weekend? God help us all. What a world we live in. http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/21/justice/chic....html?hpt=hp_t2

Can this guy Jake get 3 outs against a struggling team? -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:43 AM) Konerko hasn't really gotten enough PH chances this year. He should pinch hit for Beckham and then sub in Leury for the 9th. It's sickening to see Downs get Sox hitters out. -

QUOTE (1dog @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:40 AM) Bring on Downs! There's no way Downs can get the Sox out, unless he obtains the voodoo hex Chen and Guthrie have on Chicago. Downs is simply a miserable pitcher. -

Awesome. I want to beat these bastards. Good job, Bella. Now do you leave Bella in? Closer by committee tonite? Or go with Putnam? I truly have no idea what Robin should do. I do have a bad vibe about the lefty coming in. -

I will say this ahead of the collapse. This is not the kind of game the Sox generally win. They should have put it away early. Bullpen has let down Sale many times before. The collapse, folks, is coming. Now if it was 5-1. Sox woulda won this one. My only addendum is if KC is completely in the tank, the Sox could survive. -

Dayan needs to learn how to hit. I am of the belief he has some talent. He needs to go spend a month with Big Hurt somewhere in the offseason and learn how to hit. Maybe Sox could make it worth the Hurt's while and pay him uber bucks to tutor Viciedo. -

I predict Dayan grounds out on first or second pitch again. Prove me wrong, baby. -

Nice 2B Abreu. My gawd a run here with two outs would be amazing. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:25 AM) No damn way Sale should pitch the 8th. If we want to win the game he has to pitch some of the eighth IMO. What's the pitch count? Under 110? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:22 AM) I wonder if Sale pitches the 8th? Yes, it's a combination of the "bulldog" thing (Verlander, Peavy) plus the fact the Sox bullpen cannot hold a 2 run lead over KC over six outs. He has no choice. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:16 AM) They're not as bad as Harrelson, by a long shot. Hudler was 10X more cocky and annoying when he did the Angels games. He's been humbled quite a bit. Caufield I can't believe that's your take on the announcers. Hawk is a pleasure to listen to. His "homer" stuff is his home run call and some of that stuff. He gets pissed at times and rips the Sox, always has. The Royals announcers are so afraid to offend the front office all they do is talk about upcoming homestands and just pure homer bulls***. The ol, "Butler is due. Let's hope he gets hold of one." Hawk is a genius; the Royals announcers except for Denny Matthews are just plain awful. Your statement about Hawk compared to them is just plain insulting. -

Let's face it. Anytime the Sox can get 3 runs off Guthrie and Chen you'll take it. That's about all the Sox can get off those guys. It's an unwritten baseball rule. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:13 AM) I hate listening to this Royals crew. Hudler truly is a dunce. Yes it's painful to listen to the KC crew. Although Lefebvre is OK. Hudler, Physioc and Steve Stewart are such homers it's simply unbelievable. -

That was an absolute blast by Flowers. A mammoth blast. That would have been the game right there if it was fair. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) i like tangibles, intangibles, tangerines, and TWTW Looks like Sox have a TWTW guy in Eaton. He's up to .280. Not bad.
-
At some point if you are a contender you have to ask yourself if Dunn for the stretch run is somebody you want to give a ton of at bats to. The answer is Gosh, NO!! There are intangibles in baseball. One is called buzzkill. And you don't want Adam Dunn on your contending team. One of those 1-for-30 slumps will get the fans all hot and bothered and booing your contender. Would any GM risk his reputation on Adam Dunn at this point? I doubt it. Now in the NL as a pinch hitter? I guess maybe.

Yes, Konerko is as slow as a turtle. Who cares? His lack of speed didn't matter during the vast vast vast majority of his Sox career. He's DEFINITELY one of the top players in Sox history so who cares?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) Not unless he clears waivers and gets released. He is getting paid $3.75m this year, plus still has $750k in a buyout coming after this season. Great post! Yes by all means bring him back if he gets released. He might be destined to be successful for the White Sox and the Sox only.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) They brought in Scott Downs for god's sake. He's already cost them one game basically. That move makes me realize KC truly still doesn't know what it is doing.

Can you imagine if Abreu woulda homered there? Woulda been electric. Sox need to grind out a win today with a mad Royals team coming to town.
-
Stoney crediting Earl Weaver big time. Is Robin in the same league? Not yet.
-
That was a break. Wow. Singleton is looking pathetic at first.
-
Beckham hits a weak grounder right where the defender is. Got lucky there. Gordon fails again.
