  1. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:54 PM) I’ve never been there but from what I’ve heard about it, I’ll take my worst day as a free man over the best day as an inmate. Good to hear. When I watch those "jail" shows on TV, sometimes it doesn't seem too bad in there.
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) This is the reason my gut tells me the Big 3 aren't going anywhere. Bosh isn't taking that Rockets offer because he knows LeBron is staying in Miami. Wade opted out of his contract because he also knew LeBron was re signing, they're supposed to be real tight, as if it's believable that Wade would leave millions on the table without knowing what's LeBron's next move. For the life of me, I just can't figure out why no one in LeBron's camp has squashed the LeBron to Cleveland rumors. If he does stay in Miami, there will be a lot of broken hearts again and none of it is LeBron's fault but his PR people did nothing to temper expectations. LeBron will look like an asshole again, even though the media was at fault. Great post. Going to Cleveland doesn't make much sense IMO. Remember the bad blood with that owner before. I don't know why they haven't squashed the rumors either. That's why I was thinking he was going back.
  3. caulfield congrats I'll be in South Korea next summer for 2 weeks.
  4. What do u folks think of my late night man, The Grobber? I love his show.
  5. The poor Thunder. They sit around and do nothing every offseason. If Houston gets Bosh, look out. What is the Thunder's problem. I guess they'll just blame Brooks instead of the front office when they suck in the postseason again next year. They need a big guy who can score!
  6. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:56 AM) For me, it's the whole too many lefties thing. Some people will say it doesn't matter as long as they're good. With Rodon coming I don't really like the idea of 4 lefties Ugh. I didn't know Rodon was a lefty. I guess you folks are right. We need to dump one of the lefties.
  7. I'm still trying to figure out how Sale didn't make it originally. He's one of the top 2-3 pitchers in all of baseball. Weird.
  8. Please tell me Rodon is a righty. When is he due to join the rotation? What's the projected year of his arrival on the big league team?
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 02:47 AM) That was the point of my question. If Robin said he was tired of it all at the end of the year, would you be heartbroken? Nope. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 02:57 AM) Why don't you come up with some original material. Like most of the posts in this thread aren't old material as well. People bring up the same ol same ol regarding Robin. Why in the hell would they fire a guy they just extended? They won't. Obviously.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:23 AM) Remember when the Royals moved into first place and they were gonna win the World Series and their prospects were finally validated? Yeah, they are about to be 5.5 games back again. They can't win at home; they are toast. That 10-game win streak was nice for them, though.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 03:18 AM) Yankees are deep in catching prospects make it happen. To the people who want to get rid of Danks ... is it his contract or his ability? I get the feeling some people want the Sox to have a payroll of about $15 million total and just totally rip off the consumers. I mean, it's not your money and the Sox already have no payroll to speak of for the future once Dunn is gonzo.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 04:15 AM) Hahn really needs to dNgle Danks in front of the AL East teams and hope a bidding war starts, s*** throw in beckham or something to get a nicer prospect Unless we can get a star catcher, I don't see why we'd want to break up the Big Three of Sale, Danks and Q. Add 2 good righty starters in free agency and the team has it made from a starting pitching standpoint. Of course the bullpen has to be built as well. The guys to trade are Becks, Viciedo, DeAza and maybe Lexi if anybody wants those first 3. I think I'd prefer keeping Lexi.
  13. I really don't care that AJP is painted as a jerk. He was as important as anybody on the team in the greatest sports year of my life, the year the Sox won it all. Thank you AJP. The more I think about it, I do agree the Sox probably should not bring him back. I worship AJP but he's so damn slow it will be annoying to see him plod around on the basepaths. Also we know he doesn't have a great record of throwing guys out. Flowers is kind of the throwaway catcher during the era in which our team sucks. He's like Robin having to take one for the organization and be the manager during our lousy years. Let's face it, in a few years when the Sox get good again, Tyler and AJP will be both out of baseball. Or Tyler at best will be a backup somewhere.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 04:23 PM) If you put this year's Royals team into USCF for 81 games, they would struggle to finish at .500 IMO. I think you misfired on this post, caulfield. The Royals actually play AWFUL in Kauffman Stadium. They've played well in the Cell. I think some of their moribund hitters actually would hit a lot of homers in the Cell. KC is abysmal at home.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 12:22 AM) Gordon strikes me as the type of player who will really take to a change of scenery, he'll move on to a new club next year and go on to hit .280/.350/.450 There's absolutely nothing the Sox can do, he'll never put it together here but the second he puts on anther uniform he'll turn it on. This upsets me greatly. That's not going to happen. He is a high first round draft pick so naturally it's tough to think of him as a complete bust. It happens though. He's just not very good at baseball. The change of scenery thing? Maybe the first two weeks with his new team he'll be on fire, but then it'll be back to the Gordon we know. There's just no way he's going to be a good hitter. I'd be stunned.
  16. To Illini fans: Were you upset when Cliff Alexander momentarily put an Illini hat on his head on his commitment day, then put the Kansas hat on his head? Or do you just figure it's a young kid having a little fun on his big day? Just curious. Big Cliff is out 3 weeks with a badly sprained ankle. His back was sore earlier this summer as well. Is he injury prone?
  17. The LeBron thing is fascinating. Two points: I can't see him flirting with Cleveland if he doesn't actually want to play there. The fact he's raising the hopes of Cleveland makes me think it's a done deal and the Cavs just want to finalize the Kevin Love deal (trading Wiggins and maybe somebody else and a draft pick?). The other side of me says sports is big business and LeBron doesn't care about making Cleveland mad again and will make more money in Miami so he stays there. It's truly interesting, though.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:11 AM) A different way to look at it. I don't advocate the firing of Robin, but how many people would be truly disappointed if he wasn't the manager next year? You guys can be mad and complain all you want, but it's wasted energy. The man just signed an extension. The front office obviously loves him. It's why I don't get worked up. Accept it. He's the skipper for a long time to come, now get him some TALENT to work with (along with Eaton, Abreu, Lexi, Conor, Sale, Q, Danks and maybe A. Garcia) of course.
  19. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 11:32 PM) Can we f***ing release Belisario already??? Sheesh Yeah, I know I've seen enough of that stiff. Geez he is pathetic. Hahn must feel really good each day about the bullpen he built. I know, Nate and Lindstrom are hurt.
  20. I tell you what ... this guy is destined for jail so it would be sad if he really, truly forgot. The reason he's going to jail? How the hell do you take your baby, who you have to put in a carseat, to a fast food joint for breakfast and 20 minutes later forget he's there and you've left him in the car?? I mean he's going to jail. There's just no way such forgetfulness can be justified. He'd be better off pleading insanity IMO. Add to this ... -- He's actively trying to date women on dating sites and trying to pick up 17 year old women. -- He has no sense of smell and can't smell the foul odor in his car when the odor is just plain horrible. -- He goes out to his car midday and doesn't see the baby or smell the odor. I mean he'd have to have such tunnel vision to go out to his car and not see what (who) is in the car. -- And he does internet searches about people and animals dying in hot cars. Oh, this guy is going to be convicted. Whether it's justice or not, maybe only God knows, but he's in deep s***.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:46 PM) FWIW the pope has advocated that all death sentences be commuted to life in prison. Yeah, we are against the death penalty, but i have the right to disagree with some of the tenets of my Catholic faith. I think only about 20 percent of all Catholics go to Mass so there's no doubt people are disagreeing with some parts of their religion all over the place.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) Greg, are you of the "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" Old Testament belief, or the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone...judge not lest ye judged, etc." school of thought? Because it's hard for me to believe Jesus would be saying "burn in hell!" or something along those lines, right? Or things have gotten so bad that Jesus would have to go back to the Old Testament ways of destroying temples and kicking butt?? I'm getting so fed up with all these murders — selfish bastards ending the lives of others when they could just kill themselves. The Catholic religion of which I'm a member believes these guys go to hell. I have no proof there is heaven or hell or afterlife at all, but I do believe these murderers don't have the right to be on earth anymore. So I believe the guy who let his son bake in Houston should be put to death if indeed he's convicted of that crime. And I believe he is doomed to hell if there is a hell. The Catholics do not believe in the death penalty, but I think these murderers have to have their own lives ended. The crimes are too horrific to simply let them live 40-50 years in jail. It'd be nice if they could be in solitary every hour but one per day. The guy who killed my friend and three other women is in El Dorado jail. He's tried to escape repeatedly; he's been convicted of having drugs in jail. I was reading he's quite the popular prisoner, kind of a kingpin. I don't really understand how this can happen in prison. They need to treat scumbags like this guy like the pieces of s*** they are, but instead they get drugs in prison, they try to escape repeatedly, yet they are fat and happy lounging in prison instead of doing hard time. This bastard should have fried long ago.
  23. The guy just can't take his baby to fast food place then go to work and forget he had baby in car. He can't drive around and pretend there's no stench. It'd be nice if his wife turns on him after all the sexting. This guy can sit in prison the next 50 years.
  24. Another selfish nutjob, this one in Houston decides to take out his family. Burn in hell, pal. What a f***ing piece of s*** to do this. http://news.yahoo.com/6-dead-4-children-su...-032322343.html
  25. Today's game killed the .500 talk again. If we had a closer ....
