  1. Boy does Axe stink. Thank God Robin didn't put him in last night during the late parade of relievers through extra innings or I'd have witnessed a loss. There's no way in hell he's on the big league roster next year. He'll be back in the Independent League. He is so bad it is laughable.
  2. Good find by fathom on the power stats. I'm not a big Flowers fan though he has hit a few over the fence.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) No you couldnt. The man is batting fifth for the Texas Rangers. He is their starting catcher. We have had zero production from catcher which is 1/9 of the lineup we put out there every day. We'll never know what effect he had on the intangible parts of winning. My guess is he had a GREAT effect. Let's say if AJ was here we would have had NO loafing and MUCH BETTER DEFENSE cause guys' heads were actually in the game. No stupid baserunning, defensive lapses cause a badass like AJP was in the dugout. Are you saying my theory is IMPOSSIBLE to claim? I beg to differ. I think it's possible I could be correct on this issue, which CAN'T be proven. You seem to be SURE of your position.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) Yea, 20 games under .500 would have made this season so much better than 22 games under .500 Intangibles count. Also, one less black hole in the lineup. I can argue we'd be in the race if he was still here. Not sure I want to argue that yet, but I could argue that.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) I want to see 100% standing ovation for these guys, yes, even Rios. Standing for Rios wouldn't make much sense. Unless they show some video montage of AJ and Rios together and people want to give them a standing ovation. I mean if our fans give Rios a standing ovation, fine. It would show we have nice fans. But it would absolutely make zero sense. AJ, however, who has a ring. That makes sense.
  6. Pretty impressive that AJP is batting fifth for the Texas Rangers. Obviously he's not washed up. It's apparent Sox made a big mistake in letting him go. One could make a case that our record would be better if we had a decent catcher who could hit.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) Democrats do what's necessary to win. Republicans try to pander to their base and lose. It will be the end of the Republicans if they don't adapt and survive. That's all anyone has been saying. Yes, but my point is the democrats could lose by default. Picking Hillary would be a good recipe for the democrats leaving office. She's incapable of getting support, unless, like I said she just doesn't campaign and runs on her name. That would be very very very smart, unprecedented strategy. Put her name in the booth and she might win if people just forget what an annoying, mean person she appears to be on TV and when she speaks. I think Dole is a good comparison.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Was George Bush a great TV figure? I doubt it. Still won two elections. Bush looked OK, kind of the consummate businessman. Not grotesque-ish. The professional look can work. Ask women. They don't think W. was gross or anything; I've heard some think he was handsome. Gore was a pretty boy on TV . He almost won. Kerry looked like Bush, gray hair, businesslike. As far as my theory on the eye-test, Gore probably should have won, I'll give you that. In his mind, he did win, though. Recount asked for.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) this post is just so ignorant in so many ways. strong woman = b****? really? She is the female version of Dole on TV. Just mean and b****y if that's the right word. I predict she'll be the hot early leader, she'll get the magazine covers and the long stories, "It's Hillary Time" but she doesn't stand a chance. UNLESS she just doesn't campaign. The less she opens her mouth, the more she could just win on her name. As a CONCEPT, Hillary, Clinton II, is a great idea. The reality is she flat out doesn't pass the popularity TV test. And cmon now. Don't tell me you don't believe in superficiality regarding candidates. Obama is handsome, knows exactly how to play the camera. They've always said guys like Humphrey, Dole, etc., who looked horrible on TV didn't stand a chance. I don't think Hillary is capable of doing all those campaign speeches again and appearances without exploding. She is a strong woman. I love that. But she also comes across as a big b****. She'll never ever win.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 06:44 PM) In honor of Alex Rios return I will pay half attention to the game and be fairly disinterested when watching. That is a great post.
  11. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) I will give Alex Rios a slow golf clap tonight. They should show highlights of his six-hit game on the scoreboard during the AJ highlight video.
  12. The shift was on for Dunn last night and he almost got doubled up on a deep ground ball to right field.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) He deserves a standing O. It's about the only place he'll ever go in all of the majors and receive an ovation of any type. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) I don't understand why anyone in attendance would not give him a standing O. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 05:34 PM) It will be a great reception for AJ -- look forward to watching it. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) +1. He was a model white Sox player for us in his time here. Great posts. Cheer long and hard for AJP, perhaps the biggest big-stage performer in Sox history, or one of them.
  14. QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 08:14 AM) So two $40 tickets, still $10 for parking is only $90. So you think you and your friend should eat more than a $110 worth of food. Lol. Go to a f***ing McDonalds pre/post. Easy game. Let's just count going alone. 40 dollar ticket; 10 parking, that's 50. I get the burger meal before the game like I did, 16. I got a water. 4.50. I wanted to buy a cheese jumbo dog late in game, but didn't out of protest. That woulda been 7.50. I wanted 2 beers and got none. That woulda been 18. I wanted to buy a Sox cap. That woulda been 25 bucks. So it shoulda cost me 121 bucks to go to a Sox-Royals game. Do all of you have that kind of money to throw around and attend 10 games a summer? Good for you if you think it's worth it to go spend 100 bucks or more for a fricking baseball game. There were only 13,000 people there the last 2 nights. So obviously some people don't think it's worth it.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Wanna bet on it? Who does the GOP have? A year ago, I would've said Chris Christie but Republicans seems to be leaning against him because he seems more central/left these days. You have to look good on TV? Not sure where you got that from. Cmon, you know you have to be presentable on TV to stand a chance. Obama is a hunk; Clinton was loved by all women; Reagan had that charisma even as an oldie. Hillary quite frankly looks like the B word, talks like the B word. If I were Hillary I wouldn't even campaign. I'd just say I was running. Once she starts opening her mouth and acting like the B word around hecklers, etc., it'll all be over. She sounds good in theory with the name Clinton, but she's not likeable. She's a very menacing person. If the democrats go with Hillary, they'll be nuts. She's 65 years old, will be 68 when she's sworn in?
  16. I'm almost positive I saw this exact same game last year at Kauffman also. I remember a 12, 13 inning game I went to that we won. Royals had so many chances to put the Sox away, but failed. This was a great game. Club level seats. Q pitched a great game, had the one rough inning. Not a lot of hitting. Was hoping to see Konerko play since I may never see him in a Sox jersey again. Shocked that Gillaspie hit that one out. Totally shocked. That lefty reliever we brought in got lucky that Hosmer popped up the first pitch. Two on no out. Royals fans very upset he didn't bunt. One complaint: Was very surprised Viciedo was batting ahead of Garcia in the lineup. Disappointing. Just cause of Dayan's homer the day before, I guess. Baseball as a sport is a joke, though. Nobody at games buys anything cause prices are too expensive. Check that, you buy something when you are starving or need liquid. So I get free tix in 40 dollar seats. Cost 0. Parking: 10 dollars (ridiculous, the cost of a movie to park your car). Food: Needed a burger so badly when I got there so got burger, fries, soda for 16 bucks. Burger was horrible, but edible, fries were grotesque. Very hungry during game later, but resisted. Bought one water for 4.50. So it cost me 30.50 to go to the game for a bare bones lousy burger, fries, drink and a water. f***ing hilarious. So if I didn't go with friends and took one person with me and had to buy two tickets, and bought a reasonable amount of food/drink one f***ing KC-Chicago baseball game would have cost me over 200 dollars. That is ridiculous. It just is. This is baseball. Two bad teams for 200 dollars? Cmon. Baseball is a total joke. 13,000 fans or so at the game. Nobody eating or drinking anything cause it's so f***ing expensive. And I am not poor. I just refuse to play baseball's game (unless I NEED the food/drink to not pass out; it was hot at the game).
  17. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) Lol I like how just a few weeks ago you were applauding the Royals for bringing in George Brett because he turned around the Royals, and now they're the punchless Royals because they lost to the Sox. Look at their lineup. The loss of Cain has killed them as well as Moustakas being hurt. Getz is also not good. They've got a weak ass lineup right now especially when Butler and Gordon aren't going well. I'd like a sweep.

Why were the papers talking about the next election already on Monday? Why are they talking about Hillary running again? She stands NO CHANCE in my opinion. Do you all agree? No offense to Hillary but she, on TV, comes across as a classic b---h. And I think it's been well documented she may really be a b---h. You can't win an election if you don't look good on TV and sorry Hillary you do not look good on TV. Is she really gonna be the democrat's candidate? That's an automatic loss for the democrats next election.
  19. Since there's no thread from tonight's win, I'll use this file. NICE PITCHING again against the punchless Royals. I'm going to the game Thursday which means Axe will pitch and we will lose. It looks bad for me having an enjoyable night with Shields on the mound. I can only hope my arch-nemesis Dunn can connect vs. Shields. We need to keep hitting bombs and it's Dunn time. We lose Wednesday without Viciedo's bomb. Need some home runs. My guess is we lose 7-1 or even 7-0. I may see a shutout since we're trying for a sweep.
  20. I went with the Cubs cause I believe the Sox remain a mess. There's a very bizarre mental mindset on our team (yes, it started with the play of the Sox in Ozzie's final year and a half). Robin has continued that mindset - weird way of losing games; very bizarre style of play; inability to win consistently at home for some reason; lift and pull mentality remaining with no bases on balls, even though we have ONE home run hitter on the roster. Very weird team and I don't see the mindset changing enough to get us in the playoffs anytime soon. We're going to need a special manager to work with these players; don't know who that manager would be. I might try a very old baseball lifer next time. His name?? Tony LaRussa. Beg him to take over the team.
  21. I'll be at the game Thursday night. Free tix in club level, but I must pay for the amenities like parking/drink/food. Probably will be the last time I get to see Konerko play in a Sox jersey.
  22. Me too. You keep hearing how you can do your will online. Should I do that, or contact an attorney? It's probably the responsible thing to do in life to have arrangements ready.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 05:33 AM) Greg, would you rather have the 3rd pick in next year's draft or win some meaningless games? I don't like to write off my summers. Time is precious in this world. Every day the White Sox play has the potential to be a good day for me if they win. Granted it's not life and death, but it's a nice boost to the day. In answer to your question, I really don't care if we get the 4th pick as opposed to 3. If that makes me a bad fan, I'll have to deal with that someday when the 3rd pick is oodles better than No. 4.
  24. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 03:48 AM) His BLAH ERA is a bit deceiving. He has went at least 6 innings in his last 11 starts & only has given up more than 3 runs in 3 of those starts. He is so much better than I expected him to be this season. That's why I'm wondering if he's our new bulldog/grinder. I liked his facial expressions in the dugout. He seems to have TWTW for a lousy team. We could use a new Peavy bulldog for the future rotation IMO.
  25. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:20 AM) We were outsucking the Marlins for a few weeks, and even got to 3.5 GB of Houston at some point. Then the Sox decided to sweep the Yankees, and started to win some series for some reason. This team never fails to let me down, even when they win. You guys who want the White Sox to lose are like the guys who play the "don't pass" line in craps. You are no fun.
