QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 04:52 AM) get a lot of good, unbiased sources from that search that allow you to make up your own mind? nah... thought not. that's too much work. Thing is, I don't like her. I love Bill, however.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 03:53 AM) I honestly don't think you know anything about Hillary Clinton. At the very, very least go read wikipedia. This honestly seems like a post out of some twilight zone version of America where Hillary Clinton became Sarah Palin... I'm so completely baffled by this. I did a google search "Hillary Clinton is a b****" and a lot of stuff popped up. I shouldn't ever share an opinion with Glenn Beck but if I have to be totally honest on soxtalk, I'd have to say I kind of agree with this. I guess it makes me a bad person. http://mediamatters.org/research/2007/03/1...eotypica/138303

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) just curious greg, what do you imagine Hillary doing that would be so terrible? I picture there being a ton of international crisis in her 8 years and for some reason I envision her mishandling each and every crisis. I could see her offending China and Russia and maybe even causing some severe problems re. security. I just get the feeling after hearing her speak a lot and reading about how people dislike her (I believe she is a b---h; you may all disagree) that she wants to be Prez just to fulfil her great ego. She wants to prove she's as smart as Bill and as popular as Bill. Now I'd be all for Hillary winning and having a hotline to Bill at all times and let him make all the decisions. Or if she ran on a Clinton-Clinton ticket. Make Bill the VEEP. Being Prez is a lot of work. Dealing with the press on a daily basis; dealing with so much stuff on a daily basis. Why the hell would Hillary want to be Prez from the age of 68 to 76 when she could be just enjoying life? My guess is EGO pure and simple. I can't see her handling the job. As far as being sexist, not really. I just truly dislike Hillary. It's the polar opposite of how much I like Bill. Bill Clinton for Prez? Yes. Change the rules. Bring it on again. Hillary? Please. No. To the Hillary lovers out there: Have you ever heard her speak from the heart where you truly felt she wants to serve? Or do you sense a mean woman who feels it's her God-given right to be president, just like ol' Bill?
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 01:44 AM) God damnit I hate this f***ing team. They can't do anything right. You can't expect a team with this pitching staff to suck all season long. Finally some things are going right. This is a .500 team that went south fast and furious and Robin and his players were not tough or smart enough to fight through it and remain .500ish. Hope it's a better story next year.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 01:05 AM) The Cardinals aren't where they are because of Tony LaRussa. They are always good because their front office finds talent out of nowhere low in the draft and develops those guys, while making smart free agent decisions. And when LaRussa was around, his pitching coach was even better than Cooper at turning garbage arms into good pitchers. So I take it you aren't a LaRussa fan for some reason? His resume screams "winner" to me. I say if Robin wants out, beg him to return to the South Side.
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) Is Keppinger going to be on the team next year? I heard on the score once that he's not good for the clubhouse. He's bad for my blood pressure. I don't like him. He seems to be Teahen-esque. Nice win by the team today, though. The Associated Press wrote the "surging White Sox." Phegley is an easy guy to root for.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) Hate tpo see that. The kid does bring hustle to the ball club for sure That sucks. No way he'll play for a full week with the new rules on concussions. Sucks.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 06:24 PM) i find it funny that Republicans rip on the two people in our political landscape with the best credentials and experience to run this country for being either 1) at b**** or 2) crazy. well... if that's crazy, then I'd hate to hear how you describe your candidates... I'm a Republican but I guess I've changed quite a bit. I did vote for Obama believe it or not this last time. I just couldn't vote in good conscience for the Republican ticket. I also like the idea of Obamacare, though like everything else in America, it's impossible to understand it. I have no fricking idea how it works for me if I get laid off and lose my insurance, no fricking clue. I'm sure I'd have to read 50 pages of legalese to find out. I just truly think Hillary is "bad, bad, bad", to copy a George Bush line. I think my Republican party is pretty much obsolete, except catering to the rich assholes who are ruining American business by laying off so many people chasing every nickle while exploiting their workers. I'd suspect the next Demo candidate will win, I just hope it's not Hillary getting the nomination which she probably will. I think she might ruin our great country single-handedly.
  9. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 08:59 AM) I never got that impression. I wonder if there are stats to back that up. I wish I have seen more games this year. To me it seems like Gillispie is doing a mediocre job. That's what I'm thinking, Max, mediocre. He is still young and I wouldn't be against him being on the roster next year. I'm not sure he's a big-league regular, though.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 06:57 AM) So PK is a good defender in your book and Gillaspie is an average defender? PK seems to have good hands. Gillispie bobbles alot of grounders. He reminds me of an ordinary college infielder who is not reliable. I could be mistaken. I haven't seen the lack of range everybody's talking about with Paulie. Maybe on pop ups to the outfield or in foul ground since he can't run. It seems to me Paulie gloves everything and Gillaspie does not. If I'm mistaken, fine. I haven't seen as many games this year as last.
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 06:05 AM) Ah yes, excellent answer to my question...Since you randomly brought up that play, ya know who probably would have been out on that 4-6-3? PK...or AJ for that matter. Why was I shocked Gillaspie went yard? Not a big fan as of the home run at bat. Average defender and .250ish hitter. Hope he improves. The homer was nice.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 04:35 AM) Hillary has a very high approval rating (as seen in someone's link posted earlier) and beats all potential Republican challengers in polls right now. She is VERY popular - though that by no means guarantees a win as much can change. There is a huge luck factor in the nominating/electing game. I don't mind Obama, even though he's done nothing of note except orchestrate a horrific economy, but Hillary really truly scares me. I think the USA may be in big trouble if she wins. I mean Obama at least is capable. He's a run of the mill, normal politician. He's not going to do things so stupid they'll crush our country completely. I mean I trust Obama to basically do the right thing, except regarding the economy where IMO he is overmatched. Hillary ... I mean I may be off base here, but doesn't she seem mighty power hungry? At least Bill has a lighter side. Remember it was HIS SPEECH, not Hillary's that was so amazing at the last convention. Hillary just comes across as a mean bitter lady and she's going to be an elderly lady in her 2 terms, most definitely her second term. Can somebody make me feel better that we're going to be OK if she wins? I really, truly sense trouble. I'd rather have Al Gore come back and win than Hillary. I will say this ... I'd rather have Hillary than Sarah Palin. That's all I can say good about Hillary. How educated people could think Sarah Palin was a suitable Veep candidate (one breath from the button) is beyond comprehension.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 04:02 AM) Their SS was getting a 50 game suspension and they were desperate. Yes but that would be like KC trading Wil Myers. Oh wait, they did.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 02:59 AM) Well he's got 12 RBIs, 2 bombs and 11 hits in his last 8 games soooo ya...He might not have turned the corner yet but it's certainly an odd time for that statement. Why were you shocked he went yard? He's got 2 more HRs in 30 less ABs than Paul Konerko. The Royals fans I was with were laughing at my dismay that Konerko wasn't playing. I didn't know he felt dizzy and wasn't able to go. Dunn had a lousy game. But it would have been worse had he not barely beat the 4-6-3 with the 4 starting in right field.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 05:07 AM) Avisail has been extremely fun to watch. There's no doubt that if he continues to grow, we could have a monster on our hands. How could Detroit trade that guy? They must have given up on him like some of us have wanted to give up on Tank. Garcia just looks like a monster, like you say. He's so fast it's amazing. I mean, he actually may have scored from first base had they sent him on the hit and run single. Kudos to Hahn if he held out for Garcia in that trade. I mean that's one of our rebuilding holes filled apparently. 1/9 of the everyday lineup is fixed. Now we just have to fix 3B, 1B, C, LF (unless this is the real Dayan), CF (DeAza is rapidly falling near .250 again) and DH (unless this is the real Dunn).
  16. Did the Sox hit AJP with a pitch tonight? Was it controversial? Didn't see much of the game til late.
  17. I want LaRussa if Robin decides to retire. Can't the Sox talk LaRussa into coming back? He should be refreshed by now. Just think if he signs for five-years with the plan winning a WS in years three, four and five. He'd be an all-time Chicago icon if he can turn us into the Cardinals.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 03:46 AM) http://deadspin.com/chris-sale-goes-berser...ting-1194262002 Not to sound like a p****, but man, Sale was hitting that hard with his left hand. Maybe not so wise a move, even if you are pissed. Love his Peavy-like emotion, but that's a pretty valuable left hand he's whacking a hard object with. Oh well, got to love Sale's competitive spirit.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 03:33 AM) If they're going to win, that's a pretty sweet way Props this week to some of my least favorite Sox. Gillaspie hits the homer to make me happy in the 12th inning of the Royals game. I was shocked he elevated it out of there. My 3 Royals fans friends were pissed and I was elated. Tonight, Phegs gets the crucial single on a night Rios homered. Nice job, Phegley. I'll admit I've wondered if he has being a starter in him. And Dunn hits the 2-run bomb. Also, Lindstrom did the job at KC and in this game and I've hated on him. Sox starting pitching certainly seems better than a team 25 under .500 or 20 under. Weird season. And before I get ripped, I haven't given up on Phegley. I don't despise him or anything.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 04:31 AM) No, I'm fine with you having an opinion, in fact they are highly entertaining in a frustrating 2013 White Sox kinda way. I just think they are often times outlandish and most of the times the common denominator too your foolishness seems to be your love for the 05 team. Which is great man, I love that team as much as you do but it's just not 2005 anymore. If they wanna continue to suck and rack up another high draft pick, which you are so adamantly against, then sure bring back PK. Chances are you don't compete with him at 1B/DH because once his back, wrist, or whatever flames back up you're not going to get proper production from a position that is supposed to produce. First base isn't SS or CF where you can get by on having a defense first player thrown out there, and at this point PK isn't even that....You bring up the fact that the Sox suck at home a lot and the fact that it puzzles you... PK is batting .202/.284/.294 at home this year...there's your reason why we're losing at home. Yeah, I won't sob if he doesn't come back. He's been a lousy hitter the last year and a half. But if he's truly finished, then no team will want to pick him up (except maybe the Sox for sentimental reasons, giving him one last chance to get it back). My guess is somebody decides he still has some pop in his bat and will give him a one-year deal. Maybe not. His power numbers are so far down his career may not continue a year or two more as Thome's did. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 04:37 AM) If AJP was so important in the clubhouse why did the 2012 Sox collapse? Why did the 2009-2010 Sox get embarrassed by the Twins. Why did the 2008 Sox get swept with the season on the line? Why didn't AJ nip that bad play? You could be right. It might not have made a difference. He's portrayed as a guy who cares deeply about winning, thus I figured he might have been a reason for the team not to tank so early in the season.
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 04:31 AM) But he played on the only chicago championship baseball team in 85 some odd years!!! and he can catch the ball!!! that has to be worth a 2 year deal!!! How bout a one-year deal at 2-3 million a year? He might bounce back. I won't cry if he leaves, I'm just predicting he doesn't want to retire after a season like this. Like I said before, he's not at the point where Carlton Fisk was and HAD to retire. When Fisk couldn't see the ball anymore. Konerko is not an embarrasment at first base. Maybe he's finished at the plate. But it won't cost the Sox much to find out. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 04:58 AM) I'll give the man some credit and say he's just hung up on 2005. He thinks we could have contended with AJ on our team, yet doesn't think we can compete at all next year. He thinks we lack power yet he hates Adam Dunn and loves PK. His love for Ozzie is also well documented. He's just gotta move on. If you remember all this about me, maybe you secretly are challenged by my posts and like my posts. Were you never taught that a dissenting opinion is not always bad? It would be stupid if everybody agreed with everybody all the time. I also never said for sure we could have contended with AJ. I presented the possibility, that yes, the long stretch of losing starting with getting swept by the Cubs MIGHT have been avoided. Maybe the horrible defense and baserunning mistakes could have been nipped earlier with a guy like AJP around. We'll never know. We do lack power. Dunn has 28 home runs. Great. He's still not a productive hitter. Nobody can say he's a productive hitter and be correct. Why do I have to move on? Because I disagree with you? Great.
  22. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 03:09 AM) If Frank Thomas can be shown the door PK sure as hell can go. I am tired of PK somehow being a sacred cow. He is a shell of the man. If they'd tell the truth about his injuries, maybe it'd be easier to assess whether he is through or not. Seems to me he still hits the ball hard much of the time like that last at bat to end the game. He can't hit homers anymore, but is it because of an injury?
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 03:47 AM) You're such a joke, it's unreal. I'm convinced you're just an 05 bandwagon jumper who knows nothing about baseball. They are in first place and completely boatracing the Sox. Sox have been botching plays as usual, making baserunning mistakes as usual. What did I say was so wrong. Texas is so much better than the White Sox talent wise it is ridiculous.
  24. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 02:19 AM) I don't think he fill the voids most teams need in the playoff hunt. I don't think he's a very good baseball player. He does have 28 dingers though.
  25. Anybody who thinks the Sox are close to contending needs to review film of this game. Rangers' roster is so much better than Sox roster.
