  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:49 AM) He'll probably say he wanted to avoid the double play since De Aza hit into that one yesterday. It's too early in the game to be playing out to out. Ugh. This is mainly cause our starting pitchers can't even get us to the seventh. KW really looks dumb now for not adding somebody reliable to bolster our injured starting staff. We're gonna regret this next year when the Tigers actually play like the Tigers and we are playing with an upside of maybe 10 over .500 again.
  2. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:48 AM) WHY ARE YOU BUNTING AFTER THE LEADOFF WALK?!!! Cause Robin is slumping just like the team. He's turned into a zombie.
  3. LOL at Kansas City. So the Royals' season had ONE highlight: Beating the White Sox like a drum and one fluke series vs. the Tigers in KC. The Royals, who do not give a s*** and are playing out the string, are laughing their asses off how they are screwing the White Sox, their only rival.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:43 AM) They are fluid for arm chair Quarterbacks. I would hope they are not for million dollar corporations who had very low expectations this year and Robin has exceeded them all. He took a team that most were predicting to be terrible and they were contenders. With a year under his belt and some fine tuning, there is no reason to believe he cant improve. But I do enjoy all the laughs people are providing. I just hope he goes back to being a normal manager next year like he was during the first half. This baseball is unwatchable with our starters not going deep at all and tons of relievers and tons of pinch hitters, etc. If this is the style of ball we play next year, we're going to lose a zillion games. s***, we can't beat anybody right now playing this style of baseball. Disclaimer: I do realize this is on the players for sucking the second half, mainly.
  5. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 01:41 AM) Sorry, expectations are fluid. Robin has been below average to abysmal for weeks now. Our team has turned to s***. Can't win when starters only go 3-4 innings; my gosh.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:06 PM) So on paper you didnt think Miami was the favorite for their division? I should probably just stick talking about Ozzie rather than the Marlins since I am no expert on that team. I did think Miami would win the division, yes.
  7. Where will Jabari Parker go to school? Is he one and done? Will Kentucky land both Parker and Julius Randle?
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 01:10 AM) It'll still be such a nice change to not see that jackass on the sidelines. But yes, we're going to be god awful for at least a couple of years and then hopefully Barry can start changing some things around. Barry Hinson was one of the most popular people in Lawrence, Kansas. Everybody loves him.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Ned Yost isnt a measuring stick for Ozzie. Their situations are totally different, Ozzie was handed a team thought to be competitive, not world beaters, but not as bad as they have been. And they failed. Ned Yost manages a financially handcuffed team that is trying to grow a team, not buy a team. That's true, but Miami also abandoned ship pretty quickly in dumping all those players at the first sign of adversity. Now doesn't Miami have one of the lowest payrolls heading into next year even with Mark and Heath Bell and Reyes around?
  10. I haven't studied this at all, but I wonder how other division championship teams in baseball are faring against their divisional rivals the past 2 years or so. I would think you play a team that many times over the past many years that it gets tougher and tougher to have an amazing record against a divisional rival. For instance, can you see any scenario in the future in which we ever truly dominate our division record wise? I'd think in the Sox case, a .500 record against divisional foes overall is about the best we can hope for. Because of familiarity.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) Wow, I don't jump into politics because I can't vote. I try to avoid all the riff raff but I woke up early today and on the wake of hearing about Mitts little airplane comment on Chelsea Lately last night I figured why not go see what everyone here has to say on this guy....Ive read the last 2 pages and my mind has been boggled as to why this man is a presidential candidate. This guy sounds more out of touch than Bush. I know I really added nothing with that comment but my goodness, there wasnt a more suitable candidate out there?? He's really horrible. Then I read Rush Limbaugh saying last week that if Obama wins California will declare bankruptcy, Obama will get other states like Texas to bail it out and in Rush's words "we're doomed." Is this true???
  12. Please do me a favor and read this story in our local student newspaper. I don't want this to be political but I do, as human beings, want you to comment on this student's dilemma. Answer these questions for me: "What should this student do?" "How should this student feel?" He had an effective treatment in place, a treatment paid for by mom's awesome insurance company. Mom has to give up insurance so he is left to find his own plan. His current insurance company, the only one that would take him, requires treatment that is much worse with horrible side-effects. Does he not have a right to the treatment that f***ing works???!!! Treatment that doens't have him pissing every 20 seconds? Treatment that doesn't have him facing horrible withdrawal symptoms and feeling like he is dying? My comment is we are almost like savages as a society as evidenced by this case. This kid cannot get effective medical care!!!!! Savages are we. http://kansan.com/opinion/2012/09/24/webbe...-just-finances/
  13. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) You always take everything to the extreme lol, one hour everyday you need to just sit back and relax away from all technology or people. I have thought about taking one of those retreats one summer where you stay with the monks for a week.
  14. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) but you didn't! or was that a mistake on the Ozeroo's part? I didn't include myself. I didn't think I mattered. Plus technically I did say 'in Miami'
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 06:01 AM) He probably was before Al Davis passed away. He basically exploits MLB's revenue sharing to make side-money. Loria's awful. But that still does not mean Ozzie is a good manager or that 2012 wasn't at all his fault. He can say "we all failed" as much as he wants, but this is two years in a row now where he's gotten a team that was going "all in" and fell on his face. I don't think that's a coincidence. Maybe not a coincidence, but there are a lot of bad teams out there. The managers of those teams lose every year, like Ned Yost. I don't see how realistic people thought Miami was 'all in' just adding a stud like Mark and a stiff like Heath Bell.
  16. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) I'm starting to think more and more that Greg775 might be the greatest troll in the history of the internets. Just cause I like Ozzie? My track record of posting pretty much indicates I stand up for the guys who contributed to the Sox giving my greatest moment as a fan - a WS title. A postseason where we as fans didn't even have to sweat. (Pods is hitting .309 this season with almost 200 at bats). QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:18 PM) Just caught the first couple episodes of The Franchise last night. You see where teams are garbage, and it starts at the top. That Loria/Samson/Beinfest thing is awful. These guys are all clowns. And when you add a personality like Ozzie, you can see where it will go off the tracks in a hurry. Great post. That is a clownshow at the top. I disagree Ozzie's quotes about Bell were meant to get him fired. Loria can take the easy way out and back Heath Bell if he wants to and appear to be a players' owner, but that'd be stupid. Everybody in Miami thought Ozzie waited too long to replace Bell as closer.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 05:47 AM) Here's an interesting question. If you had to do something costly/embarrassing/life threatening in order for the Sox to make the playoffs (doing one of these things guarantees it). Would you? Costly? Yes, I'd go to a game and pay parking even. Costly is a relative term. I'd buy box seats for four, pay for parking and drinks/food. Embarrassing? I doubt it. Life threatening? No. It's all up to the players. Now that Detroit has caught us, should be interesting to see if team continues to suck or steps up. As expected, KC is laying down.
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 06:18 AM) Morosi now letting Ozzie have it. I'm starting to feel bad for the guy. Yea I realize everyone here hates him right now, but that's the guy that will always be connected with the White Sox. Not 'everyone' here hates him, Blaze. I think he's great. Those writers are smelling blood and going in for the Ozzie kill. It's ridiculous. Loria is nuts. If Ozzie gets canned I hope Chicago media grabs him for a talk show or pairs him with Hawk n Stoney. Or maybe DJ will decide he's retiring and Ozzie goes on with Farmer. I love how Miami needs a scapegoat for this lousy season and as of today it appears it's going to be Ozzie. What a joke. They spent all that money on bad bad baseball players but they need the scapegoat. I can't believe a guy with Loria's ego would hire a loudmouth like Ozzie in the first place. For some reason I didn't know anything about Loria before Oz went there. He's another Steinbrenner type. Now we know why Ozzie got a four-year deal. s***, he'll be laughing in Loria's face when he fires him. We know how Oz loves money. he's gonna get 3 years' pay for no work. Oz will LOVE that.
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Every time Mitt Romney opens his mouth, he makes me want to not vote for him--then Harry Reid opens his mouth and makes me want to vote for Romney out of spite. He is so unlikeable. I'm surprised Obama isn't ahead by more at this point. After the debate he'll be way way up. I'm surprised Obama doesn't agree to 3-4 debates. He'd pummel Romney so badly 1-on-1.
  20. Such a scary topic. That one doctor just breezing through surgeries. Man our society is in deep s***, deep deep s***.
  21. Is Loria the worst owner in sports now that Al Davis has passed away?
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 04:31 AM) It's funny how all these teams we play seem to have motivation. Why can't our team play with the same motivation? I don't know. But the last word I think of when I watch the Sox play is motivated (on a consistent basis). Adam Dunn looked godlike last night but this team has lost six of seven now.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 04:21 AM) Tampa Bay is currently 3 games behind the A's. Let's hope the Rays lose and A's win on Wednesday so it's a 4 game lead for the WC going into that HUGE four game series at USCF. 2 game lead, and the Rays will be playing with just as much, if not more, motivation than the Angels this past weekend. The Angels are now only 2 1/2 games behind, having won 3 in a row.....and the A's still have 4 games with the Rangers left, with SEATTLE sandwiched in between over the weekend. I just don't think motivation matters. Cleveland, KC?? It's all about the White Sox. The Sox haven't exactly looked motivated of late. I think that's just mumbo-jumbo. Play ball.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 04:13 AM) They should make Ozney, Ozzie Jr. or Oney part of the Spanish announcing team for the final 8 games. They could second guess all of Ventura's decisions, and inform their father through twitter/cellphone during the Marlins' games so he could tell them what to say or what he would choose to do in the same situation if he were managing the White Sox game. That would be better than this. The Sox need a chip on their shoulder and there's nothing. It's just .... blah. It's like nobody in the media has an opinion. I'd rather have some loudmouth in the media shake things up rather than "We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out." For most fans we're just hoping Detroit does a little worse than we do and Sox get in.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 03:00 AM) Was the first game in the series a "half price" night or have all the games been heavily discounted? Certainly, the late game time change and school being in session had a lot to do with it, but coming off a dramatic victory in the late innings the game before, it's almost incredible to have under 15,000 fans despite the situation. We lost about 6,000 in attendance in order to play Kevin Youkilis instead of Olmedo/Hudson/Lopez/Dan Johnson at 3B. The day game was a ridiculous decision. Guys, say what you want about Cowley and before him, Mariotti. But those 2 guys added interest in our team. You think if they were around they wouldn't be blasting our fans and getting everybody riled up so we'd come out and support the Sox? You think if Cowley wasn't reprimanded he wouldn't be blasting the team for choking, etc., and getting everybody fired up in the process? Mariotti would be tearing us apart for not being able to beat the Royals. He'd have us in the news instead of everybody considering our pennant run a bore. He'd be having a "choke" story every week and the Sox would be way more compelling. The way it is now, the media is as boring as our team and our fans. Everybody's just gasping and watching the Sox lose day after day. We're all just watching this sinking ship, hoping Detroit loses. We got what we wanted ... no Cowley and no Mariotti and NO CONTROVERSY. This team needed to be shook up weeks ago and the media isn't helping by being so kind and so blah.
