  1. This team shows signs of life, in a long-term way.
  2. Local kid Bob Seymour in for the Rays
  3. Someone should invent a sort of building where you can park on a 2nd or 3rd floor.
  4. Pitching today… Martin Morton Holton Melton.
  5. Any word from Keith Law?
  6. You in the Twins bullpen?
  7. 1. This team sucks. 2. This team is better than last year’s team. 3. This team shows some form of future upside in some areas, whereas last year’s team was 100% hopeless. 4. This team still sucks. I am still enjoying this season based almost solely on #3 above.
  8. Bring him on a 1-year deal with a team option for next year. The team needs inning eaters right now.
  9. Carson vs. Colson
  10. I don't think anyone is telling anyone else they can't like Banana Ball, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
  11. I’m honestly very confused. This board was talking about how Kopech finally started listening to coaches. Right after his immaculate inning, he talked about how he started listening to the coaches about his pitch mix, etc., and we were talking about how he was starting to turn it around and reach his potential just in time for the trade deadline. I’m trying to figure out what of the above narrative that @WestEddy has brought up is in dispute here. Small sample size? Sure. But it happened, we talked about it, and we were left summarily disappointed with the return that Getz got for Kopech because of it.
  12. Next up - fashion show??
  13. I mean, the Sox did draw a supposed 1.38 million people last year....
  14. I hate that I laughed at this.
  15. Correlation vs. causation can be tricky. https://www.tylervigen.com/spurious/correlation/1530_associates-degrees-awarded-in-liberal-arts_correlates-with_google-searches-for-tummy-ache
  16. Pretty sure that’s how most modern MLB franchises are run these days, to be fair. Front office builds the team with a certain player utilization plan in mind, and the manager follows that.
  17. Since when are we expecting this team to play baseball in the fall???
  18. I mean, this would qualify as Banana Ball, no??
  19. Except a 90+ mph fastball at your face, like your user pic suggests.
  20. I mean, this is the team we thought they would be. They'll go on hot streaks, then go ice cold. I'm sure they'll right the ship for another small hot steak, then go cold again. There's an upside to these players, but young kids are susceptible to streakiness.
  21. Thank goodness we didn't have to waste a year, though, am I right?
  22. Was really hoping for an "on the roster for the 2005 White Sox" reference. Really cool though.
  23. I'm sure you'd more than make up for their airfare.
  24. ...or sometimes we need to acknowledge that what's going to work on Montgomery, Robert, Frank Thomas, or whomever else isn't necessarily going to work on Andrew Vaughn, Luis Robert, etc. This gets back to a discussion that @Look at Ray Ray Run and I had about a cohesive drafting / talent acquisition / talent development philosophy and pipeline. If you're acquiring an unfinished player, you better damn well know how to develop that player. Hell, even Frank Thomas needed special coaching (Hriniak) to unlock his full potential. Sure, there's some blame on the players (maybe Vaughn really did need the kick in the pants that the Sox were giving up on him), but it's also on the organization to maximize their assets in any way they can.
