  1. Knicks had no business fouling like that when down by 20 with a minute to go. Then again Denver had no business keeping Anthony and Camby in a blowout. I still give Carmelo credit for slapping that gnat from the Knicks who started the fight with his cheap foul on JR Smith. Nate Robinson was jumping in there like he was going to do something, but JR Smith would have pounded his midget ass. And now ESPN is reporting that Isaiah Thomas warned Anthony before that something was going to go down cause he and Camby were left on the floor in a blowout like that. The NBA should just suspend the Knicks organization for the rest of the year and save them the embarassment they put on the floor every night.
  2. No, we need pitching going into next season. And to me there's a much better chance we'd be able to maybe re-sign Buehrle and not much of a chance at all we'd be able to re-sign Jones. If we are moving MB, I want a stud young pitcher in return.
  3. Did SonsofSamHorn close or something?
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Giovanni isn't replacing Buehrle in 2008 unless he has an absolutely spectacular season in AAA. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if we delt him again for a lefthanded starting pitcher to replace Buehrle. If he remains, I'll predict what I do with every other Sox prospect -- he won't experience immediate success, and will be sent down to the minors two weeks following his initial promotion. He ultimately won't prove productive until 2010, when his ERA finally creeps below 5 and walks no longer become an issue. I love Flash, I think he says this about every prospect we have.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) bank tellers from Pennsylvania That's definitely the worst of it....
  6. I expect him to be a solid 3rd starter. That's about it really.
  7. Sorry to hear that Tex, hope it all works out for you, make sure you let one of the credit bureaus know about it. As a rule I never click on anything from an email and always take a direct link to a site myself by bookmark or just typing in the URL.
  8. QUOTE(astralpanda @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) Why are you turning this into some kind of fight? Stop with the isecurities for a moment. Everything you just said, I KNOW! lol, excuse me for wating the Sox bring in more talent. The deeper the system, the better. I wouldn't consider these guys to be "good" depth. They couldn't contribute at the MLB level so to me they are useless unless Charlotte needs filler for its roster.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) And Boz from what I read the Vizio's were a pretty damn good buy. The Aquos is just a bit better of a set (Sharp makes a beautiful LCD) but its also quite a bit more. Oh and definately try and take advantage of one of the many online retailers that sell this bad boys tax free and without any shipping costs. I also like that I can return essentially any TV I would potentially buy at Costco at anytime. My three finalists are the Aquos (priced at 899.99 at Costco), the Vizio (699.99 at Costco) and the Panasonic which is rated higher than both for 923 (retails at 1200.00 but I get a discount through Panasonic Direct as well as free shipping). I still may wait it out based on the article I read the other day about a 30% price drop on most models in 2007.
  10. Farnsworth and Redding are nothing more than AAA fodder, as noted by Civic . These guys don't care where they play, they just want to have a shot to make a big league roster and rightfully so. And since they have no shot to make the big club, they'll go elsewhere. Case closed.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) trust me, 1080p is really worth it. There is a reason why you pay a little more. I don't think the Panasonic I am looking at even has the same size with 1080p.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) I haven't been as impressed with the Vizio's. To me, the picture quality isn't as strong as a Panasonic, Phillips, Sharp, etc. My understanding is they have a high return rate at Costco compared to the other brands. That's not necessarily based on any hard numbers, just things I have heard. Here is a good reference point for high-end TV's. Best Buy Plasma (not affiliated with Best Buy retail stores) Then take the model # and plug it into pricegrabber.com. Buy.com has had some very good deals on Phillips plasmas (42" and 50") lately. I think they had one of the 42" models for around $1200 shipped recently. Thanks for the info, Rex.

1080P seems way overpriced to me... I've watched several things on 720P and that seems serviceable to me. I'd rather not pay through the roof.
  14. Did Giles have no trade value or something?

I've been looking to get one for quite sometime, but have been holding off due to falling prices. Just read the other day that prices will be coming down 30% in 2007. I've pretty much got it narrowed down to what I want, but wanted to get some thoughts/feedback on the set you own or the one you're looking at... One other thing is I'm seeing a lot of commercials about this company called Vizio and I took a look at a couple of their sets at Costco the other day and the picture seemed to stand up just fine against the competition, mainly a Sharp Aquos and a Phillips. Anyone have any experience dealing with them? I'm zeroing in on the Panasonic TC-LX60, it's a 32" and I can get a pretty nice discount on it to take it to around $900 (shipped) through Panasonic's Direct site (my company has a partnership with Panasonic).
  16. QUOTE(T R U @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) As an Astros fan I am disgusted by this trade You should be, you just got hosed.
  17. There is already discussion about this in the Garland thread. Proceed there.
  18. I respect those who watch the NHL and I agree that at times it can even be decent to watch, but the reason that it's not covered is that probably 98% of America does not give a s*** about the sport. I think that pretty much sums it up. Why would ESPN put resources in something that most people won't watch when they can carry the NFL, MLB, NBA, College Hoops, etc...It doesn't make any sense from their perspective. They're in it to roll in those advertising dollars, not please a small portion of the population. As far as their lack of coverage on Sportscenter specifically, I see Barry Melrose on there a couple of times a week. I'd be happy if I was a NHL fan that he wasn't kicked off the air for horrible grooming habits.
  19. This should be us making this deal. Horrible.
  20. He juiced, quit being naive. There's a reason he all of the sudden got really good and is now injured just about all of the time. I don't need a positive test or a needle in his locker to determine that. It's the truth.
  21. That's too much to pay for a reliever who was dominant for a while but then again may have had much of his success due to steroids and is one false move away from another arm surgery. Texas has no clue how to spend their money.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) Agreed. It's sad that contracts are getting this ridiculous and owners are actually signing them. I don't see this boding well for the Sox. Konerko's deal looks like a helluva bargain right now. Likewise with Garland and Contreras.
  23. Based on Boras's comments regarding Matsuzaka today, I would be shopping Crede if I were the Sox. Imagine what he will say about Crede when he becomes a free agent. There will be teams lining up to pay Crede 70 or 80 million for 5 or 6 seasons after Boras gets him on the open market. The Sox aren't going to be one of them. If the Sox can get a solid deal in place to move Crede, I say go for it.
  24. Happy Birthday to one of the main reasons this site is where it is today. Have a great one Mike!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Thanks for all you've done for me and for the site big man. Hope you have a great birthday, you deserve it..
