  1. I don't much care for the guy anymore, but hey, to each his own I suppose.
  2. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) "IU-UK about to get underway, cmon Hoosiers!" "Wow IU." You didn't? If IU is a mid-major, I'd hate to see what other programs would be called. 5 National Titles, yeah, mid major. Laughable. Guess EJ thought they were mid majors too.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 12:02 PM) Freddy. Won the division clinching game, ALCS clinching game, and World Series clinching game. Wrong, Contreras won the clinching game of the ALCS.
  4. Definitely one of my favorite Sox players over the past years, Big Game Freddy is how I'll remember the guy. I think Fred got somewhat of a raw deal by some fans last season, as he pitched his ass off for us in 2005 and then also had to come back early for 2006 for the WBC. Nonetheless, I'll always root for Freddy and remember his game 4 masterpiece. Good luck in Philly Freddy and here's to a great 2007 campaign for you.
  5. He blew a ton of big games when he was here, most notably I remember a game against the Yankees at home where Giambi hit a bomb off of him and also a playoff game against Seattle in 2000. I don't think he had the best relationship with management either, so given that and the fact that he often wet himself in clutch situations, I'm gonna have to pass.
  6. Funny how Reinsdorf and Williams are now crying poor this off-season after coming off an attendance record in 2006. This is the typical White Sox behavior before sending a player packing. Slammed Big Frank before showing him the door, same happened with Ordonez...Come spring training, they'll have Hawk on air talking about how the Sox can't afford Buehrle in the "current landscape" of major league baseball...This is not what I would expect a team to do with the face of the franchise along with Konerko. I thought winning a World Series would perhaps change the approach within the organization and at least show some class to the guys who went out there and won a ring. But now that the market is being set and it looks as though Buehrle will command at least 13-15 mil a season, let's bring up the old news that he wore a Cardinals hat to a World Series a couple of months ago to start the Buehrle bashing so it'll take some of the negative press away when the Sox fail to open their pockets. My suggestion would be to start working on a new deal for the best pitcher this organization has seen since Jack McDowell. Anything less is a huge mistake and probably won't ever be forgotten by this fan.
  7. I'm not writing Gavin Floyd off just yet. I'll wait and see what Cooper can do with him before passing judgement. I remember hearing people say, that's all we got for Borchard when we stole Thornton from Seattle for him. Same applies to the Cotts to the Cubs deal, which right now doesn't look great. I'm gonna give KW and Cooper a pass and put my trust in them that they think Floyd can develop into something solid. And I'm thrilled to have Gio back, he's probably our top pitching prospect. Garcia was going to be gone after 2007 and with the draft picks we would have gotten, I guarantee we wouldn't have netted two prospects like Floyd and Gio.
  8. If this trade doesn't yield a long term Buehrle deal, I don't like it. GET IT DONE NOW KENNY.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Do you think any team is going to give up the farm in order to trade for him and give him a 3/40 million extension when his fastball is 88 mph? On no planet should Floyd be starting in the AL. I agree, everyone is jumping on this trade right now, but I'm sure once KW makes his next move, everyone will be back on board with the man. You guys need to step back from the ledge for a second and realize that KW isn't just going to make a bad deal for no reason. Hell IMO this is a fine deal if we can flip these guys for other talent or if it frees up money to get an extension done with Buehrle right now.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) And Boz will officially declare Buehrle his lover upon the signing of the extension Speaking of which...you better be finding a way to get Mark back to his old ways. He'll be back next year, book it. All-star for the third straight year. Do you think 5/65 would get it done?
  11. I'd say 5/65 is a fair deal for Buehrle and the Sox. Get it done KW.
  12. Interesting if true, who reported it on ESPN 1000? I for one would love to have Rowand back, but that's just me.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:23 AM) The pictures are blurred out. I still predict Britany will make a comeback complete with a new CD and tour. You will all be spankin' it to her videos once again. Book it. Click on them and they're not blurred.
  14. QUOTE(Goober @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) WHERE http://www.thesuperficial.com/ Enter at your own risk, there's one at the top, then the real show at the bottom. Remember, I said, at your own risk.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) A little harsh, but I feel the exact same way, (talked about in the Gload thread a few days ago..) Hey, after a while I get tired of people talking about a journeyman backup as the best option for our team in LF.
  16. Hey, I've got an idea, everyone start a thread saying a player you want. I want Roy Halladay and Vernon Wells. And Albert Pujols. And Ryan Howard. And Ichiro. Uh, yeah, bad idea.
  17. Gload is worse defensively in LF than Podsednik. Defense and pitching are the problem with the Sox. Offense is not. I don't see why everyone has a hard on about Ross f'n Gload. If he's so great, why is he still a backup? He's 30, made his big league debut in 2000 and has never had over 250 plate appearances in a season. In 2001 and 2003, he never even played a game in the big leagues. There's a reason folks. I mean judging by the way people talk about him, if other GM's feel the same, we should be able to just flip him for some stud talent. He's a first baseman by trade and most teams would not want him as their everyday first baseman. He's not that good and neither is Podsednik. We need to upgrade at the position and that doesn't involve giving the position to Gload who might be one of the guys in the league who actually has a weaker arm than Pods from LF. Get out of here with this Ross Gload crap. It's disgusting.
  18. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) When did Pods whine or b*tch? He was the one player the blamed himself for the team unachieving all season. I meant, we should hope he improves next year and we should stop b****ing. I guess you didn't quite get it in context.
  19. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) You act like these were the only options. It wouldn't have cost ridiculous amounts of money to dump Pods and let one of Gload/Mack/Sweeney play LF. Also, Jose Guillen is an available option who is much better than Pods. Gload can hardly throw the ball, why in the hell would we put him in LF. That'd be worse than Pods defensively. Sweeney needs more AAA seasoning (he's what, 22 now?) and Mack isn't an everyday player. And Jose Guillen is a cancer. In no way am I defending Pods but your suggested moves don't make us any better off than we are with Podsednik.
  20. QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) yay. we signed the white figgins and didn't have to give anything up for him. Figgins can play 3B, 2B, CF and LF. Pods can't. I'd hardly call him the White Figgins.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Who's that, Podsednik or Ozzie? Both....
  22. Hope that he improves next year and stop b****ing. That's my advice.
  23. Happy birthday, hope its a good one!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) This is merely a backup plan. Nothing more. While I agree somewhat on this, I also don't see a lot of other options on the market. Don't be surprised when #22 trots out to left field come opening day.
  25. I'm not surprised at this after seeing what Roberts and Pierre got. KW doesn't want to be left with no options in LF come spring if he can't swing a deal at the winter meetings.
