  1. Once the realization that we were done finally sunk in these past few days, I've turned to a new form of therapy to get over this season. I'm watching the 2005 ALCS Game 5. I'm gonna wear this box set out this winter until the Hot Stove heats up. Can't wait to see what KW has in mind to improve this club.
  2. The Sox won't trade the face of the franchise. Expect a long term deal to be worked out in the offseason.
  3. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) one never knows in the wild world of recruiting. I don't see it happening either, but then again it would continue the trend of us taking the best chicago offers. He's not from Chicago. He's from Indianapolis.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) the recruiting class looks pretty dry to me. If gordon goes to IU or even KU, that would leave a class with barely anyone making the top 100. I know you can find diamonds in the rough,, but Illiniois is just removed from a national title game. I belive Weber gives up too easilly on the top dogs. The chances of Gordon going to Kansas are zero. Just wanted to clear that up.
  5. Based on what I know of the situation, I'd say there is absolutely a solid chance that Crede will be moved following this season. Here are the reasons: 1) The uncertainty of his contract situation going forward and his agent could present big problems for the Sox. Crede has publicly voiced his desire to stay with the Sox, but at what point will Boras finally get the upper hand and get him to go for the biggest deal possible? My logic tells me eventually he will demand a huge deal. 2) Will his value ever be higher? I'd say probably not. He's posted career numbers this year, is still relatively young and would probably bring back solid MLB ready talent in any deal. 3) His back problems. Up to this point, he's been able to manage this situation and perform at a high level. There's always a chance that he could injure himself to an extent that he won't be the same player ever again. As much as I would like to see Crede remain with the Sox, I think there are possible scenarios in which the Sox would look at dealing him, especially if they do indeed want to keep Fields at 3B and feel he is ready for next season.

    Buehrle

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) '[Cardinals starter Mark] Mulder wouldn't even make my team,'' Guillen said. ''He couldn't start for us, and he's not better than [Neal] Cotts or [Matt] Thornton in our bullpen." He's not in charge of who puts together the team. And yes, he's better than Cotts and Thornton. He wasn't healthy this year, simple as that.

    Buehrle

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) The thing that pisses me off about Buehrle that he admitted that there was a bit of a hangover from last year and some guys weren't as into it as last year. Personally, I'd see if I could get Zito before I decide to use the option on Buehrle if that's possible. Actually, I'd love to see two lefties in this rotation though. I was thinking the Sox could possibly be interested in Mark Mulder on an incentive laden deal for 2007. He won't be ready until perhaps May or June as he's coming off rotator cuff surgery. I don't think he's going to command a huge deal and if the medical reports on him look decent, I think he's a possibility. As far as Zito goes, he's going to be the biggest FA pitcher out there and will get in the 5/75 range if you ask me.

    Buehrle

Perhaps one of the biggest decisions in the offseason for KW is whether or not to pick up the option for Mark Buehrle for 2007. The deal is a 9.5 million dollar option or take a million dollar buyout. The choices would be to take the buyout, exercise the option or perhaps approach Buehrle's agent about a multiyear contract and scrap the option for 2007. This would have appeared to be a no-brainer but after the way Buehrle has pitched this season, it's not. Personally I think Buehrle pitched like a guy coming off a WS ring this year and didn't put the offseason work in to be as good as he could have been this season. Whether or not he can bounce back is a question KW will have to ponder when determining whether or not to exercise the option. So what's gonna happen with Buehrle is a pretty big question heading into the offseason. I'm interested to get the take of Soxtalkers on this and I'll leave my Buehrle love bias out of it.
  9. Who cares. He's gone. Quit talking about him in Pale Hose Talk.
  10. Gregory, sorry to hear you got hurt. I'm sure you'll come back from this stronger than ever. My thoughts are with ya and from someone who has competed in sports for most of my life, I know it's gotta be tough not being able to be out there competing. Hope everything turns out okay. Just remember, it could always be worse. Watch the video below.
  11. Is that really Freddy pitching? Since I can't see it with my own two eyes I'm questioning it somewhat.
  12. Romero in to face one guy in the 4th inning? What the hell?
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Wow, Romero has been horrible Twins surely knew when to cut bait with him.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) I think Prior's problem is between his legs, between his ribcage and between his hear. It's about ganas in his case, IMO. Liriano is going to have chronic elbow problems if he doesn't take better care of his mechanics, IMO. That's always been the knock against him. That is the major reason Minny was able to get him in the Nathan deal. His stuff has never been the question, but with horrible mechanics like that, it was always about, "when is his elbow going to pop"?
  15. QUOTE(loltrain @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Liriano injured again Not surprising Twins are stupid for even trying to pitch him again. It's not worth ruining him forever, which I'm guessing after today he is done for the season. Hopefully he didn't tear anything.
  16. Quit drinking the kool aid and realize that this team just isn't going to make it. You'll sleep a lot better at night.
  17. Texas needs to go ahead and take this game. Especially since the Tigers are a man down in the pen without Zumaya until at least Friday.
  18. Buehrle on the hill + No BA = Good chance for problems. This could be a bumpy ride. Time to man up, Mark. Show us all you still have it.
  19. I'm definitely out at this point unless a reasonable explanation for the price jump is given.
  20. Why in the world would any competent human being start McCarthy in the 9th of a tie game (one that we had to win by the way)? Where was Thornton? Jenks? Then it gets worse as we put Logan and Tracey who are both jokes into the game to make the lead even bigger for "Big Mac" Sabathia and the Tribe. A golden opportunity to pick up another game on Detroit down the toilet again today.
