No way to trading Freddy and keeping Javy. That'd be a huge mistake. Even if Freddy has lost some of his stuff this year, he still knows how to pitch. Vazquez is a mental midget who's not getting it done.

By Alex Bozich [email protected] As perhaps the most vocal critic of Brian Anderson during the first half of the season, it’s only appropriate that I’m writing this article. You see, I truly believe that he is the centerfielder of the future for the White Sox. Always have. What I’ve questioned is whether or not he is the best centerfielder for 2006 and another run deep into the playoffs. Read More...

By Tony Mazzuca The White Sox begin the second half of the season Friday with a true test awaiting them. The Sox make their way to the Bronx for a weekend series with the Yankees. The Sox, who trail Detroit by two games in the Central at the All-Star break, just dropped two of three from AL East leading Boston and will look to get back on track in their first meeting with the Yankees in 2006. Berman is choking on Big Sloppy's nuts. What a f***ing tool.

QUOTE(Damen @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Hafner is running away in VORP this year. He leads baseball with a 55.8 VORP, with Pujols in a distant second at 46.4. Ramirez is in ninth at 38.4. Cleveland is in 4th place. Does that count for anything? Just wondering. I doubt all the MVP voters sit around and go damn, Hafner is great in VORP.
-
As great of a season as Hafner is having, he really has no shot at the MVP. He'd have to have far better numbers than the competition (Ortiz, Thome, possibly Ramirez, Dye) to win it on that bad of a team. I know A-Rod won when he was on Texas, but he had far and away the best numbers that season. The only way Hafner has a shot is if somehow Cleveland rallies in the second half and they get into the Wild Card race.

Yesterday was the beginning of back to Earth for Papelboner. He's not winning the Cy Young or Rookie of the Year. Cy Young right now is Halladay and Liriano and Boner are neck and neck for ROY.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) Fields has little value to the sox as a corner OFer/ DH, with Crede likely to get top dollar when it's time to re-up. If by little value you mean he has a shot at being our leftfielder next year, then I guess he has little value. If you read Merkin's piece on Whitesox.com on Fields, you get the sense that a positional change for Fields is in the future and it's even discussed by Razor Shines. No way he gets moved for Tom Gordon.

So is it Liriano in for Jose?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Me last try. You get an A for effort.

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) Four off Pabelboner is a tall order, but anything's possible. If we score 4 the server will crash. Guaranteed.

I would at least like to see some fight here. Get this guy off of his high horse just a bit and let him know that we're right there nipping at him and ready to bite.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) No Heads, I'm not going all Chicken Little either...I'm still here, watching, and not annoiting Papelbon as Cy Young already for getting Gooch to popout. Looked rather ordinary to me, this team needs a few days off, I'd rather our pitchers not throw at all in the All-Star game. I second that, let Kenny Rogers pitch the whole game. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) If Gagne can get the Cy Young for his season a few years back, Papelbon should easily get it if he continues this pace. He won't. Don't worry. He may be good, but nobody is as good as he's pitched so far.
-
Liriano>Papelbon Halladay>Papelbon Santana>Papelbon If he wins the CY Young it'll be because ESPN funds a campaign for him to win it. He may have the best stats so far, but I'd take any of those 3 names over him.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Well, the Sox 3-4-5 have a shot to show a little something here today. I feel like I'm the only one who even cares.... No we all care. We just feel helpless.

Just want to say this again. f*** Boston and their fans.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Was anybody impressed with Pap's stuff? No
-
Is Papelboner on his way in?
-
f*** the Red Sox. End of story. If you wanna talk about them go to Sonsofsamhorn. I've got no tolerance for anyone in that organization. They're 10 times worse than the Yankees.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) And racist. Just ask Everett and Bonds

That was a good one, but last night's Thome call was great as well. Hawk went nuts on that, you can just hear his voice go to another level when he says WAY BACK.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
-
Sounds good to me. Hopefully Vaz will start to pitch decent after the break. If not, we've got a problem.
-
I was never a fan of the trade to begin with. Just a bad move.

The Royals lead 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Hopefully they can tack on an insurance run or ten here.
