  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Good luck man. There is a lot of good advice in here, but try not to think too much during the interview. The most important thing is to be natural, and I gotta imagine for an advertising firm you need to sell yourself more than anything. If you are uptight or artificial, it won't work. I have a lot of confidence going into the second interview because I thought I did great in the first one. I just have to continue to do what I did in the first round of interviews. But you're right, the first interview I was just myself instead of telling them what they wanted to hear and things went fantastic.
  3. Update: Second interview scheduled for Friday. Hopefully this is a great sign.
  4. By Alex Bozich The White Sox will look for payback from a sweep at Yankee Stadium as they welcome the AL East leading New York Yankees for a three game set beginning Tuesday night. If the White Sox win the Wild Card, the Yankees would most likely be their ALDS opponent. The Sox will need a reversal of fortune to turn around their second half slide and regain the AL Wild Card lead. More importantly, they need to get back on track as they will welcome the AL Central leading Tigers beginning Friday for a crucial weekend series. Read More...
  5. I saw a few questions posed to me in this thread, so I'll try to answer them. 1. I was going to go to grad school, actually went for a few weeks. It's somewhat of a long story, but the way the program I was in was being run was not acceptable in my mind. Then I heard rumors of possibly losing accredidation (which I found later were not true) which did not help matters. 2. The job is for an account service rep at an advertising firm. It would be helping an account director manage a large advertising account. Seems like an entry level position with a great opportunity to get my foot in the door somewhere. I know someone at the company and have gotten great feedback on how they treat people.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Always ask at the end of an interview about a timetable. To be honest there is no way of telling how long it will be as there is no way of knowing how many interviews are still to come, if there will be more than one interview, how many positions there are etc. Ask all of this stuff at the end of last interview. He said by middle of next week or around. Also there are two open positions and its been posted since late June so either 1) they haven't interviewed many people or 2) they haven't found anyone who they feel is qualified. One thing I tried to do was ask them questions specifically about the job and how they saw me fitting in. Are there any clues that I should have looked for during the interview to let me know what they thought of me? Obviously they wouldn't say anything bad directly to you and I felt I got excellent feedback throughout. Two of them were VP's of the office and the other one was the direct hiring manager. As far as contacting them, I just sent a thank you email and kept it very brief.
  7. Since this was my first interview for a "real job", just wondering what the normal time (if there is one) to hear back following an interview. By all accounts it went great as I interviewed with three different people and all of them said they would be in contact with me and were impressed. Also, I sent two of them a thank you email this afternoon and was wondering if that was the proper thing to do as well.
  8. I have the Baltimore announcers...what was Hawk's call?
  9. Gload, show us why we've kept you on the team this long. PLEASE
  10. Outstanding job as usual. What else can you say?
  11. For some reason I have a good feeling about tonight's game. It would feel so good to get back in the win column. It's been tough watching them play so bad, hell I think it's put me in a bad mood for a few weeks now. Time to get back to winning ways. A win tonight is an absolute springboard if we want to get on a winning streak as we've got guys the next two days (Chen and Benson) that we can light up.

    Buehrle

Horrid location and hanging changeups. Yep, that's pretty much been it.
  13. Vazquez just isn't that good. It's no secret he's bounced around the league lately and there's a reason for it. He's a mental midget.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) The LA Times today had a little story talking about Soriano and the Angels. The Angels are planning on using Howie Kendrick as a super utility guy so they can get his bat in the lineup. It seems like they have already written off any chance of getting Soriano. Bowden has asked for one of Lackey, Weaver, or Santana along with highly touted prospect Brandon Wood. Are you kidding me. I know initial proposals are one thing, but wow. Later on Bowden was quoted as I don't have to trade Soriano, the price I ask now will be the same price I ask at the deadline. I wouldn't trade Lackey, Weaver or Santana for Soriano straight up. Why Bowden thinks they could also get Wood is beyond me.
  15. Why would you move Crede up? The reason he's 7th to begin with is to break up 3 consecutive right handed hitters. (He'd be the third if he was hitting sixth.) As far as Mackowiak starting, he's not that great on D either and I'd rather take my chances with Pods starting to play better down the stretch. I'm not into all of these gimmick changes. Just play better and win games. They won the first half with their current lineup, they can do it now.
  16. Soxtalk Poll: How will the White Sox finish the season? Vote and Discuss.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) Probably Greasy or Boz. Not I, must have been Zach. Either way it looks great. We talked about adding Wild Card standings a few weeks back but hoped it wouldn't come to that. Unfortunately it has.

    Summer Vacays

Destin, FL Aug 19-26 Can't wait.
  19. He won't be missed. Good riddance. Now if ESPN just fires the rest of their staff we'll be set.
  20. The winds are about to change folks. Vintage Buehrle sweeps through US Cellular much to Sox fans delight. Silva gives up a few bombs. Tension is gone for a day. White Sox winner. 7-2. Book it.
  21. Waiting for the HR over and over again. Yep, feels like a Jerry Manuel 2003 team.
