Just because he had a bad game today, he (Buehrle) doesn't deserve to make the team? He had 9 wins and a top 5 AL era before today when I remind you the team was already picked. He doesn't deserve to start, but I don't have a problem with it. We're talking about one of the top starters in baseball who has been a workhorse and an ace for us for several years now. Not to mention he is a class guy and a winner. We should celebrate him going and not worry about Liriano or Verlander or any other pitcher who is NOT on the team.

QUOTE(GoTribe @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) I don't care. AJ is having a great year don't get me wrong, but in my book, and many others books, Pronk deserves it.. You guys are 18 games out. He's been carrying you all year long. :rolly Most underachieving team in baseball.

Time for us to cut ties with Cliff. Bring up Tracey.

Who cares I doubt he responds to this idiot.

Had to edit your subtitle, that word isn't allowed in game threads.

All-Stars will be announced tonight. Among the Sox with a legitimate chance to be selected: Joe Crede, Tadahito Iguchi, Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko, Jim Thome, A.J. Pierzynski, Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras and Bobby Jenks. Refer to this thread to discuss your thoughts of who should/should not have been selected as well as anything else related to the game.

Until Vaz gets the stones and pitches rather than just grooving meatballs down the heart of the plate, he's gonna be the same guy. There is a reason why teams gave up on the guy. He has grade A stuff with no mental makeup to go along with it. Hopefully he can be serviceable the rest of the way before we dump him as soon as possible after the year.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) 1 person already mentioned it in this thread and I just know if this continues we'll be seeing even more of it, it's just one of those enevitabilities you get with Sox fans. Well when you're hitting .170 you should expect criticism. Also, if we aren't allowed to say anything about the guy, who by the way is above criticism in the eyes of many around here, why don't we just close down the site and put up a message that the White Sox are great and there's no reason to even talk about it. I have a problem when all people do is complain but when people call what they see and want to discuss it, what's the big deal?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) I thought we were past all this s*** too, he's one of 3 player who fail to get down a bunt so now we have to go back to the amazing Pods in CF talk. Anderson does exactly what is asked of him both offensively and defensively and the guy still can't get a f***ing break. Who said anything about Pods in CF?

QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) But I don't get the sense that stuff like that will cause Ozzie and KW to give up on Anderson, since I think they are looking not only at winning this year but at developing a winning team for next year and the years beyond. Anderson's potential is enormous. He is beginning to realize it, not quickly enough for some fans, but then, some fans this time last year wanted Joe Crede tied to a boat anchor and tossed into Lake Michigan ... What in Anderson's previous numbers suggest that he will be anywhere near the player Crede is? First off, Crede was a league MVP at two different levels of the minor leagues. In 2000, he was MVP of the Southern League at Birmingham and in 1998, he was the MVP of the Carolina League and nearly won the triple crown but fell two home runs short. Anderson's AAA stats last year suggest that he was not ready for the show this season (115 strikeouts). He was definitely rushed through the system and we are seeing this season that he is completely lost at the plate and not ready to hit legitimate pitching. The guy was never really a dominate player at any level in the minors and in my estimation would have benefitted greatly from another season at AAA. You cannot dispute his potential to be great is there but as of right now he is only helping us with his defense. My guess is that if KW can improve via trade at the CF position he will because sooner or later you can no longer afford a .170 hitter in the lineup. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) BA's hit around .200 since June. Should I be impressed? For any other player that is one horrible month.

Happy Belated Birthday. Hope you had a good one.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) Javy keeping us in it Spare me, Vazquez is horrid.

I doubt Williams will stand pat on this.

I wonder who the last team was who won a World title with a regular hitting .170.
-
For a guy hitting .170, not getting the bunt down is unacceptable. Unf***ingacceptable. I'm just about done with this experiment. I've said all along that if he can't make productive outs and move the runners over, he no longer needs to be in there when it counts. What happened today is embarassing.

Great job as usual.

First I've heard of this.

By Alex Bozich [email protected] The White Sox will look to continue their domination of the NL Central (12-3 thus far) as they return to Chicago to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field this weekend. The Sox won two of three in Pittsburgh as Freddy Garcia picked up his tenth win and Mark Buehrle won his ninth game. The series will mark the return of Cubs catcher Michael Barrett from a 10-game suspension stemming from his altercation with A.J. Pierzynski on May 20. Read More...

FYI Zach Duke will pitch Thursday in place of Oliver Perez who the Pirates moved to the bullpen. Duke will move up a day and pitch on normal rest.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) You cannot be serious. I will go on the record in his defense and say that what El Duque did against Boston last year will be more significant than anything Vazquez EVER does in a Sox uniform. But otherwise, I'd rather have neither of them at this point.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Ozzie's not giving up his son-in-law's rotation spot, or his Puerto Rican golfing buddy's rotation spot, or the 3yr-$30 M extension guy's spot to a rookie. Only way another starter gets into this rotation is if KW swallows his pride and adds another starter. We won't acquire a starter, if anyone goes into the rotation, it'll be Mac. End of discussion.
-
Quite frankly I hope he is the one dealt at the end of the year. Can the guy actually throw a gem against a team not named Kansas City? We may end up regret dealing a possible stud like Young for a guy who won't even sniff a playoff start.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) I said it once and I'll say it again, if we have a shot at acquiring another good starting pitcher then we shouldn't hesitate. Our starting pitching is average, maybe even below average with Jose struggling lately. We have an adequate starter in the pen, his name is B-Mac.
