  1. U of L smashes Cincy, they'll be a top 3 team come season's end. Then when Telfair comes in next season and Ellis Myles returning from his knee injury and Dean and Garcia returning, preseason No.1 next year.
  2. Which is precisely why it will never happen. I'm kinda ready for the season to start so people have something better to do than make up rumors to start discussion. This is getting rather old...

If you wanna talk mid-majors, better get Western Kentucky on your signature map.
  4. Please consider the source of this rumor before growing too excited. And I think the Phillies are getting a raw deal if they did this. Byrd is considered a player who is ready to break out this coming season. Burrell has the potential to be a great player if he can shorten his swing. Wolf is a legit number two starter. And Rollins, well, let's just say he'd be way more coveted than Jose Valentin. In my opinion, we'd need to give more than Ordonez, Valentin and Cotts for the Phillies to take this deal. I realize we are giving up Maggs, but we are getting players with high value in return.

  6. No worries Steff...I just looked at the Soxfest page on whitesox.com and it looks as though it's updated a bit: New manager Ozzie Guillen is scheduled to appear, along with current players including Carlos Lee, 2003 All-Star Esteban Loaiza, 2002 All-Star Mark Buehrle, Jose Valentin, Joe Crede, Jon Garland, Miguel Olivo, Kelly Wunsch, Willie Harris and Aaron Rowand. Also scheduled to appear are White Sox fan favorite Harold Baines, new third base coach Joey Cora and hitting coach Greg Walker, as well as other former team stars like 1993 White Sox Cy Young Award winner Jack McDowell, 1983 White Sox Cy Young Award winner LaMarr Hoyt, baseball’s single-season record-holder for saves (with 57) Bobby Thigpen, Britt Burns, Kevin Hickey and team ambassadors Minnie Minoso, former 20-game winner Billy Pierce, 1971 American League home run champ Bill Melton and Moose Skowron. Also on hand will be broadcasters Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, Darrin Jackson, Ed Farmer and John Rooney, along with general manager Ken Williams, assistant general manager Rick Hahn and Roland Hemond, the executive advisor to the general manager.
  7. I heard that. Also heard where it played it with a Hitler speech and the Rocky Theme... Good stuff.
  8. Thanks for the info cw and steff...Honel is one guy I'd like meet a lot, so I'm hoping he's there for me to run into...
  9. Will any of these players be at Soxfest: Billy Koch, Damaso Marte, Jeremy Reed, Joe Borchard, Neal Cotts, Magglio Ordonez, Cliff Politte, Kris Honel Reason I ask is I'm trying to scrounge together stuff to get signed and was wondering if there was a chance that any of these guys would be there. Any info would be appreciated.
  10. Enough about Jimenez already. He's gone and is somebody's else problem now. I think I could field as good at 2B as that pig did. I've never seen such a lack of enthusiasm and desire out of a baseball player. Can't believe any of you actually liked him. I'm sure he's going to turn the Reds into instant contenders in the NL Central this year. And it's nice of you to drop by again Heather, wasn't sure if you were still posting here or not.

  12. In my political science senior seminar last semester, a girl in our class did a 30 page paper about the Act. Her presentation of the paper was strongly against the Act and the facts were there: there's just a lot of things wrong with the Patriot Act and the things it allows our government to do until it expires.
  13. As a republican and political science major, I've heard a lot of different views about the Patriot Act. Although personally I don't have anything against the Act, I understand the problem that many Americans have with it and their concerns are LEGITIMATE. Like it or not, the Act does violate some of the major principals that our country was founded on. It unjustly invades the privacy of our own citizens, whether our President (who I support on most things) likes it or not. Now you may argue that since we are in a time of crisis that we forfeit these rights to privacy for our protection. Some see it that way, others don't. As someone who is often forced to look at things from both sides, I can see the good things the Patriot Act could do and some of the potentially evil things it could also allow to become the norm in this country. It needs to be re-worked otherwise it's going to be a constant topic of debate and just criticism.
  14. ESPN's new Page 3 section, which I guess debuted today, has an interview with James Gandolifini. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story...0bqs/gandolfini Here were some of the more interesting questions and answers for those who don't have the time or interest to read the entire article: 2. Are you ready to say goodbye to Tony or are you going to miss him? I'm not ready to say goodbye to the character but I'm not going to miss him. Does that make sense? I want to end this the right way and I know that he-Mr. Chase-has something in mind and I trust him completely. So when he said 10 more episodes in the sixth year and that's what we need, I said fine. I will do everything I can. But when it's over the right way, I'll see you later. 6. Now, back to the question. Do you think there might be a dark ending to the show? Could Tony get whacked? I don't know, I don't think so. I think Mr. Chase likes Tony and he doesn't want to kill him. 8.You appear to be a big football dad on the show with your son. Are you a sports fan? I like football, but very little else. 8a. Who's your team? Jets. I would say Giants, but...
  15. ESPN.com news services When trade talks between the Rangers and Red Sox collapsed in mid-December, it appeared that Alex Rodriguez would remain with Texas and Manny Ramirez would stay with Boston. However, those talks have restarted and a trade between the two teams is actively being discussed, a high-ranking baseball offical confirmed to ESPN's Dan Patrick on Tuesday. Moreover, Bruce Levine of ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago reports that officials from the Red Sox and Rangers plan to meet this weekend in New York to make another attempt at negotiating a deal.
  16. What news outlet released that? Nevermind, it's right above.
  17. So I'm presuming those are Iraqi's that we are firing at?
  18. So where are we going to gather at Soxfest, does anyone know yet?
  19. I agree it is a lot to ask for, but what is 10 g's to Microsoft? This is bringing them some negative publicity.
  20. Maddux won't go the AL. He succeeds because he knows the hitters in the NL so well, that's part of his advantage everytime he toes the rubber. Just don't see him switching leagues at this point. Plus he'd have to face better lineups with the AL having the DH.
  21. While these individuals obviously need jail time, they also need psychiatric help so that they will not abuse people throughout their lives. They obviously have other things going on in their lives that helped trigger behavior like this. If not, they are just flat out sick individuals. Either way, they need to be punished harshly and hopefully rehabilitated so that they one day become productive members of our society. This is a total embarassment to that community, the families involved and the school.
  22. Favorite Rowand moment of 2003: Clutch homer off Alfonseca at the Cell in the bottom of the 8th...Let's hope we get more clutch hits from Rowand in 2004. I think we will.
