Sorry for my misjudgment, but either way you look at it, he's not going 29th and he's not the 29th best player in the draft. He'll go top 15 at the worst, top 10 most likely. And you can book that.

Raiders for me, please.

That site has little credibility, they've got Gamble going 29th...

Location and mixing your pitches is more important than throwing hard. Danny Wright probably throws the hardest of the players who started for the Sox last year (besides Bartolo) and he was the least effective. If this guy has a deceptive delivery and can hit his spots, he'll be fine. Velocity is probably the most overrated determination of how good a pitcher can be. Buehrle is another great example of a guy who doesn't throw flames, but with his location, mixing speeds and mixing his pitch selections, can be dominant. Don't read much into Rosenthal, he doesn't really know much if you ask me. I used to respect the guy, but 8 times out of 10 he is either wrong or makes bonehead comments.

Gamble will be a top 10 pick, so I think you've got him a bit underrated. Also Phillip Rivers seems a logical choice for a late first round selection.
-
And Buehrle has thrown only 3 full seasons. His rookie season he was called up in July and therefore I really wouldn't count that. There are only a few lefites in the bigs who are better than Buehrle at this point: Zito, Mulder, Pettitte and I guess a few could argue for Washburn, Sabathia, Moyer or Randy Wolf (although none of them are better than Mark).

BEGOOD, why the signature in rainbow colors? Are you trying to reveal something?

http://www.nypost.com/sports/45039.htm This would be a huge mistake IMO. Kid doesn't have the NBA body to compete right away, but I guess if you're gonna be a lottery pick, you've gotta consider going.

Can you add this....

Don't worry, no one cares about getting William Harris's autograph...

BY CHRIS DE LUCA Staff Reporter In a shakeup WMVP-AM (1000) has been plotting for years, a second local sports-radio talk show -- hosted by Chicago Sun-Times sports columnist Jay Mariotti -- will be added to the Chicago ESPN Radio weekday lineup Monday. WMVP has been looking to add a second local show in its battle against WSCR-AM (670). The show hosted by Mariotti will knock Tony Kornheiser's national show off the air in Chicago, while WMVP will retain Jim Rome's national show. Mariotti said an agreement has been reached in principle, though a contract has not been signed. Mariotti is scheduled to meet with station management today. Mariotti -- already a regular on ''Around the Horn,'' a daily sports talk show on ESPN television -- is expected to be joined on the show by a co-host or co-hosts, a detail that is still being discussed. The show will air from 9-11 a.m weekdays. The Mariotti show will join the ''Mac, Jurko & Harry Show'' already running on WMVP and hosted by Dan McNeil, John Jurkovic and Harry Teinowitz. Since ESPN bought WMVP four years ago, it has been searching for a second local show. The latest venture will be a direct shot by WMVP in its battle with WSCR. In the Arbitron Fall 2003 ratings book released this month, WSCR-AM still is tops in the market, but WMVP-AM is gaining ground. Among men 25-54 -- the demographic advertisers covet most -- WMVP had a 3.2 audience share in afternoon drive (3-7 p.m.) compared to a 2.8 for "The Score.'' A year ago, in the fall 2002 book, WSCR had a 2.9-to-2.1 edge. It's the first win ever for WMVP in that category.

He's got the 2nd worst haircut I've seen. (Steve Nash is the worst) Get him to a barber shop before spring training.

to Move on... :fyou

That hat signed by E-Lo will be on eBay by tomorrow morning...

I believe he was willing to make the exception to keep Bartolo. But the same exception was not a reality for any other pitchers. Also have to figure that we would have definitely made another deal to get rid of another contract had we signed Bart. Just my two cents.

It's only a week away, so it's time to start counting down. This thread should be used to discuss anything Soxfest. In addition, once the festivities begin, I'll be using the thread to post pictures, notes and anything else that I get from the event. Everyone else is welcome and encouraged to do the same. Looking forward to meeting several of you at the event, as it will be my first Soxfest of hopefully many more to come. AB

I never carry cash, so it's credit/debit card for me.

Here's a question for anyone that wants to take it? let's say E-Lo has another outstanding year. What kind of contract should he be offered from the Sox? And how loyal will he be to the Sox in regards to our chances of resigning him? This could turn out to be an interesting situation considering JR's stance on giving contracts to pitchers... interested to hear everyone's thoughts...
-
Haven't gotten anything. Wonder if that means I'm not going to be in the private auto session... That would be weird though considering we made our reservations around the same time.
-
True True... KW is a moron.
-
Please, I could have told you right after the season that Bart was gone...Who is KW trying to fool here?
-
Hopefully the fans grill KW at the Soxfest Q & A...
