  1. So the timeframe is correct. 6 weeks he is out. Then most likely 2-4 to get back to playing form.
  2. Charlotte threatening early, 1st and 2nd with one out in the first for Fields.
  3. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) Thanks to the mod that fixed that. ....you're welcome.
  4. I love all of the low ratings for my columns. For those who voted so low, please leave a sample of your writing.
  5. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) As a Red Sox fan, 5/65 seems just right. That being because Beckett will recieve a similar dollar amount to Buehrle and that is almost too much in my opinion. I can't imagine either pitcher recieving all that much more than Burnett, for the main reason that the Jays completely overpaid for his services. Hmm. Just something to ponder. The Red Sox are best served to make sure blister gate doesn't happen again this year before tendering a long term deal to Beckett. And I don't think he's worth as much as Mark is as far as a contract goes, but Boston will most likely overpay to keep him.
  6. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) I think he really wants to pitch for his hometown Cardinals. That would be okay w/ me. The Cardinals are my favorite NL team. If I am not mistaken, the last few times he talked about St. Louis, he basically said it would be hard for him to pitch there because there would be a ton of distractions. Doesn't sound like he is gone for certain. I think the fact that him and Garland are good friends helps us too. Especially with Garland having a long term deal.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah that is true. What would be the most years and money per year you'd be willing to offer Mark if you were Kenny? Just curious. I'd say 5 and 65 is fair for both parties, but I'm not sure he'd accept it. Being perhaps the biggest Buehrle apologist around, I'm probably not the one to ask. I think Flash Tizzle should be able to give you a better idea or Tony or Jason.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) If Buehrle is going to cost AT LEAST 13 to 15 million a year, then I hope he enjoys St. Louis. I love MB as much as the next guy, but that is just insane. I don't think STL would offer him that. I think maybe Boston or NYY would offer him that kind of money, but I don't see him wanting to go to either one of those clubs.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Well they do have the new owner and GM now, so I'm waiting to see what happens with that. They were able to get a decent MLB pitcher in Arroyo for sorry ass K king Wily Mo Pena, so that was a good start. And the thing is, they hired a guy from the Twins organization as their GM, so he knows how to win without a huge payroll. It's going to take time. They may have the worst farm system in baseball right now.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) The Sox have an option for 2007. For $9.5 mil.
  11. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) But that doesn't make it right. $15 million/year is probably the lower end. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody offered him $17 million/year. On the open market, yes, but my guess is he doesn't get that far. Sox should lock him up so that he doesn't have an opportunity to be offered that kind of money.
  12. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Agreed with the general premise of the article, although it'll take a lot more than 5 years/$65 million to keep Buehrle around. What I disagree with is the fact that KW is called out, but Frank and Mark are not censured for their not-sure-mature comments over the past few years. Hurt and Beuhrle may be fan favorites, but they're certainly not beyond reproach. It's the nature of the beast. Fans for the most part will side with the athlete over the executive. As far as the money goes, I think around $13 mil per season could keep him but who knows. He could be more in line to get $15 mil per season.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) They have already begun trying to figure out how to fit the ego down the Dan Ryan for delivery. Great stuff. They may have to close down the roads to get it through.
  14. Sox Should Make Signing Buehrle Top Priority By Alex Bozich, Senior Writer It's happening again. The annual "Mark Buehrle to St. Louis" chatter, which had died down, is back again and sounds more disturbing than ever. Buehrle, who stated as recently as last year that he'd be happy to stay with the Sox for the rest of his career, is being called out by Sox GM Kenny Williams. Read More...
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) As demonstrated by mullet imagery. I believe that anything below the black line was taken off as it would protrude from the baseball cap in the back. But the top was probably left alone. Good stuff.
  16. Any chance TB would trade Joey Gathwright for cheap?
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) Argh, playing at that place in June is like a series at Wrigley with the wind blowing out, especially with the Reds lineup. They will probably find a way to win 1 game off of us. I dunno, as for GABP, it's not Miller Park good, but I just enjoy it's location downtown and by the river and think it's pretty fun. Not nearly The Cell or anything though. Reds fans despise the Cubs though and are pretty smart by what I've seen though, so it works for me. Yea, they definitely hate the Cubs. And yes, its a great location for a park. My main beef with the Reds is they just aren't showing a willingness to improve. That is a really good baseball town and they are just fielding a lousy product. Some of their signings (mainly Eric Milton recently) have just been horrible.
  18. 17 K's in 38 at-bats. This cannot continue. I'd feel a lot better if he were at least making productive outs. I know he's always had high strikeout totals, but I am beginning to get concerned about him. Hell, those are Borchard like strikeout totals. I'd like to see some improvement over the next couple of weeks from BA.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Hey!! I'm going to 2 of the games in Cincinnati My brother is actually a Reds fan (hey better than a Cubs fan right? and he was rooting for us last October) so me and him are taking the drive down there. GABP and Miller Park are such great places to visit (I'll be at Miller Park Saturday for Reds/Brewers) and I kinda like the Reds and Brew Crew. Should be fun. It's only about a hour and 20 min drive to Cincy so Gage is coming in and we're going to go up to that series. As far as the Reds go, there are a lot of Reds fans here in Louisville, but I don't care much for them. I've been to their new park once and thought it was vastly overrated. I went a couple of years ago, it may have been the first year of the park, for the Cubs and Reds game where Farnsworth speared Paul Wilson. Reds won the game, so that was good. Should be a fun sweep there as their lousy pitching will get rocked by PK, Thome, Jermaine and Co.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Amen. As for this, great news. And I'm going to my 3rd game already Friday, I'm glad I took the strategy of hitting up early season games here, tickets are going to be so damn tough as the season goes on and the race heats up. Road games only for me this year for the most part. I may make one trip to the Cell all year. So far I am going to Anaheim next weekend for all 3 and then to Cincinnati in June for the 3 game set. May also do one more road trip plus maybe a trip to the Cell.
  21. QUOTE(JenksForPrez45 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) Does anyone else think Jhonny Peralta is a little rediculous at #15? I mean cmon no Sox players in the top 50! Yeap, one good season and suddenly he's a top 15 player for the future. Please.
  22. Good, now sign Buehrle to a long term deal.
  23. Here's my predicted order of finish: 6th Pickler 5th Paris 4th Chris 3rd Taylor 2nd Elliott 1st Katherine
