QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Goos to see Beckett rocked, but I HATE that it was against the Tribe.... Eh, I dispise Boston more than any team in MLB, so I'll take it.

Oh how I love it. 3.2 innings, 6 hits, 9 runs, 8 earned, 5 walks, 3HR. The integral part of the best 1-2 punch in the bigs now has a era of 4.50. Welcome to the AL, jackass.

http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.d...STS01/604270426 He's a local guy here in Louisville and it's a shame he's going to be pitching for our rival. Could cause problems for us for years to come.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Hawk was hired after Roland Hemond was fired on Harrelson 10/2/85 http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/execd...am.php?team=CHW I guess the question now is when was this draft? I'd think it would be around the same time period as the draft currently is. Most likely that it was a Hemond pick. If you look at his track record, he did a whole lot of nothing as a GM.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Was this a GM Hawk Harrelson draft? When thinking of possibly drafting Bonds, he said... WHERE WOULD HE PLAY? In all honesty, I don't know if Hawk was GM at the time or not.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) We're going on a vacation in early June to Chicago and Milwaukee.....plan to catch the game against the Indians June 9 and Cards vs. Brewers the next night. We realize that Sox game may very well be sold out, but my dad has had luck with scalpers in the past, so we'd likely go that route....but anywho....he asked me to look up hotel info..... When we went to Hilton Head, SC, we were able to stay for pretty damn cheap at a Westin (under $100 a night, 89 I think) in early June because my dad works for the State of Iowa. Well, I looked up both Westin's in Chicago and Milwaukee and it won't allow me to choose dates past June 4th. Is this typical? Plus, now their website says government rates but in the little box that shows discounts it says "federal discount". Now unless my dad hasn't told me anything, he only qualifies as state/government. Maybe the card he carries will get him out of it. We had a really nice time at the one in Hilton Head (probably also just because it was damn nice in Hilton Head).....are the ones in the Chicago/Hilton Head area just as nice? We haven't had the best luck staying in big cities ( I swear I saw a hooker on the corner of a hotel in Denver) but I think if we can find a place with two double rooms for under 100, we won't be too picky. Just a search for tonight in Milwaukee turned up 77 a nite, I believe. Failing that, are there any other places we should consider in the Chitown area? Go on Hotwire.com. You'll get a good deal off of there. Last summer I went to Chicago and got a room at the Hard Rock Hotel for around $100 bucks a night for two nights. It was a super nice place. Only bad thing about the site is that it doesn't tell you the hotel you are staying at until you book it. The good thing is that it does tell an approximate location as well as how many stars the hotel is. I did a search for June 9th on there, just to see what came up. Found a four star on Michigan avenue for $125 bucks.

So this is what I get for being a devout Buehrle apologist. You guys are rough. Oh well..

Kobe was the MVP and Bron should have been 2nd. Nash winning is bulls*** IMO. The whole reason he won is because they didn't lose a beat despite Amare getting hurt all season. People forget that he has an all-star sidekick in Shawn Marion and a nice supporting cast. And he plays no defense at all.

I'm not gonna argue about this. They're both great. Agree to disagree. -

Will someone please contact me when LeBron James wins something meaningful above the high school level? Until then please don't compare him to a hall of famer like Kobe Bryant. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) I doubt that happens, but maybe it's just me Well you'll see a lot the future a lot clearer when LA gets Chris Bosh after the 2006-2007 season. Just remember where you heard it first. Also gotta figure with 13 or so seasons left to play he has a much better shot at a ring than Shaq, who will be lucky to play 3 more seasons. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Lebron? LeBron is not better than Kobe, but thanks for playing. Anyone who takes a team who has a 3rd option named Smush Parker to the playoffs is a pretty damn good player. About the only thing I can see that LeBron does better than Kobe is pass and rebound. Kobe is a much better defender, scorer and shooter. He easily makes the toughest shots night in and night out in the league. He can also score basically (82 points in one night?) at will even though he is surrounded perhaps by the worst roster in the NBA besides himself. And when Shaq never wins another ring without Kobe, but Kobe wins one without Shaq, everyone will see just how huge Kobe was in winning the 3 rings. But everyone will keep trashing Kobe in this thread and that's fine, but just realize you are watching one of the best ever. The guy is a stud. -

I could care less what he does off of the court. And the rape thing, well, never really materialized and the girl seemed to be questionable on her story to begin with. And yes, I am talking about his game which is clearly the best in the league. -
Just so you get your facts right, XM is at 6.5 million and should easily surpass 7 million by the end of the year. Yes, the stock is overvalued and maybe Sirius is undervalued at this point. Then again, this thread wasn't started with the intention of debating which service was better or which stock was better to buy.

No need to use him right now. Good pitching performances going deep into games lately.

Its crazy to me how many Kobe haters are out there. Personally, he's the only reason I will EVER watch the NBA. The guy is damn good, regardless of what anyone thinks of him as a person. -
Another question out there I'd like to ask: What's everyone's favorite XM channel?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) I do this kind of thing to directv all the time too. Crazy bastards. What are you able to get from DirecTV? I am with them as well and would be interested to hear.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) XM is a great product as well, evidenced by my new avatar. I think the difference in the two is the premium content. I would not be happy with XM's increase in Clear Channel presence...and sharing of exclusive content. If I didn't own Sirius, I would own XM. It is a great product. I just love annoying everyone with the Stern banter. My insignificant post is over. Hey I couldn't pass up giving you the avatar. Anyhow, back to the topic, anyone else getting anything cheaper than the 20% off. This forum I found suggests $77 a year from XM somehow. http://forums.slickdeals.net/archive/index.php/t-218950.html There is a post towards the bottom about it.

I used to love Stern when I was around 18 or 19, but it's the same stuff constantly. After a while interviewing hot chicks just isn't interesting anymore, at least to me.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Both companies are doing the same thing, its called competition. I will never leave XM, but I will tell them I will many times. I do this with cell phone companies constantly. how much of a deal have you been able to get from XM?

So a co-worker told me recently that XM had offered her a free 3 months when she called to cancel her subscription and being the XM subscriber I am, I gave them a call and told them I was thinking about switching to Sirius. I told the first person I was speaking to that I needed to cancel my subscription and that I was switching to Sirius. He asked to verify some info and then transfered me to a different department. The guy answers and asks me why I am switching. So I say I'm thinking of going to Sirius because it is perhaps a better deal. I was recently billed for another year (for $150 total with tax) but I wanted to go ahead and get the pro-rated refund and cancel. So the guy offers me 20% off the yearly price and I went ahead and took it. I'm not sure if this means XM has been losing a lot of people to Sirius or what, but it was an easy way to get the price lowered. Just a heads up for any XM people out there who feel they are overpaying for service.
