QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Which 6 games? ALDS Game 3 ALCS Game 5 All 4 World Series Games
-
Definitely no chance I am going to this now that I'm confirmed for the Angel series out in Anaheim later this month.
-
Give Pods a few more weeks to figure it out before you dismiss him as a utility player. Any guy who hits a walk off World Series winner deserves more than a week into the season before people are calling him out like he's been called out around here. Some people really are a tough crowd around here.
-
How can it be a good deal for Lee? Sure he'll get paid but he's stuck with the Cubs and with no chance to win.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) EAT s*** TIGERS!!!! The biggest baddest .500 team ever assembled cant compete with us. Not yesterday, not now and defenitely not tomorrow. GIMMIE A HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Yea, what he said.

For the record in regards to the post earlier, yes I will cry if Buehrle leaves.
-
And the chances of Buehrle's option not being picked up are none. Get a clue, bonehead.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Today my mom learned that one of her kindergarten students from last year died after a long battle with cancer. She wasn't able to go to school last year, but Mom met with her from time to time and sent her work home so that she could finish it and stay up with the progress of the other kids. The thought of the whole thing is just heartbreaking to me personally. We're losing too many young people everyday. Just wanted to throw this out there for everyone and it just makes you think sometimes of how fortunate you really are to wake up each and everyday. for her family and friends. Here is a link to her obituary: http://www.legacy.com/louisville/Obituarie...rsonId=17386426

Definitely use it for at least 3 or 4 days before washing. I used to just use a towel once back in the day when I could get away with it, but now that I do my own laundry I don't go through as many.

I think MB will stay in Chicago for the rest of his career. In fact I think KW will do anything it takes to keep him. The only way he'd leave is if he wants to pitch somewhere else. I think he loves Chicago and the fans and we're building a winning team with pitching. He is the cornerstone of that. Money won't be an issue IMO, but I know I was talking with Mike (ss2k6) at Soxfest and we both agreed that Buehrle would probably get around 5 years and upwards of 70 million on the open market. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we have continued success for the Sox to pay Buehrle around 13/14 mil a season. He may not be worth that much as a pitcher, but since many view him as the ace and face of the franchise, he's worth it.
-
Spring Training and Soxfest are the time for autographs or going to the team hotel in a road city. It's hard to get autographs at US Cellular, especially with all of the little kids down there.

Maybe he's on hydroxycut.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) KW better be thinking about doing something quick because all his work of getting Thome and Vazquez will be spoiled if we don't get some freaking good arms in the bullpen. You are right, without a good pen we will not hold leads or be able to win close games. Which is how we won a World Title.
-
QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) But if our bullpen isn't going to improve, something needs to be done. KW might have to sacrifice some of our starting pitching depth for another arm in the 'pen. I hope that Garcia is healthy and improves over the next couple of months, because I think that he's the one to move (inconsistent, not young anymore, lots of IP under his belt). Maybe something along the lines of Garcia and Politte to Anaheim for Shields and Weaver? Then again, it's going to take another month or so before anybody can accurately evaluate this team. Shields has thrown a lot of innings the past few years, he's not someone to target. It'll be hard to pull off any trades anytime soon since its so damn early in the year. I think we should get Logan back in the minors and then rarely use Thornton. Although neither looked good in ST, I think both Tracey and Redding would be better than Logan. I am still at a loss of words as to how Logan went from A ball to the majors just because he had a good spring training. Just a bad, bad move. I knew we'd miss Marte and Viz and I wrote it in my first column. It's holding true so far.
-
QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Since he isn't starting, perhaps we could actually utilize McCarthy? McCarthy bottom line needs to be a 6th-7th inning guy and not in long relief. Redding would be better suited for long relief in a blowout game and not B-Mac. We don't have enough depth at the end, especially with how bad Politte and Jenks have looked, to just get by with Cotts, Jenks and Politte at the end. If we are using B-Mac in the pen, put him to good use. No reason Thornton or Logan should even be on this roster to begin with.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) We're not 1-4 because of Logan and Thorton. Logan gave up a gopher ball to Hafner. But that wasn't his fault in all reality because a guy should never jump from A ball to the majors like that, especially being thrown in there against Hafner. Just shows how thin we are in bullpen depth. Right now I'd rather see Tim Redding out there than Logan. Bottom line is that we are not executing right now. However, it is no excuse to have a bullpen this questionable. This team will go nowhere with a bad bullpen and I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who will disagree with that.
-
Right now one thing really bothers me and it is just how bad 2 of our bullpen guys are... KW should have done better research on Hermy to find out whether he was going to be ready for the season. Now we are stuck with a suspect bullpen due to Logan and Thornton. I don't think we're going to be able to count on those guys if we want to win the division again. The pen, quite frankly is just sad. IMO neither Logan or Thornton should be on a MLB roster. And using Logan against Hafner the other day was a joke. Spending over $100 million on the team and to have these two guys out there in the pen to me is just bad management by KW. I think we're going to be fine, but KW needs to look at the pen and think to himself, I f***ed this up and I need to make it right. Neither Logan or Thornton are going to cut it. We need help down there.

Sox vs. Kansas City, 4/08/06, Vazquez vs. Bautista
aboz56 replied to iWiN4PreP's topic in 2006 Season in Review
It's still early but I admit I'm starting to get pissed. Our bullpen is so poorly put together and I'm really worried about that. Logan, Thornton should not be on MLB rosters. Ozzie's decision making sucks for the most part. PLAY THE STARTING LINEUP ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
It's all Jason's fault.

I did my preseason top 10 for next year today... 1. North Carolina - A lot of talent returning, maybe the best player in the nation in Hansbrough and they only lose Noel. Then throw in that they have the best class in the nation coming in, they could be very good. 2. Florida - Contingent on Noah staying in school. 3. UCLA - Farmar and Afflalo should both be back, if they are, look out. 4. Ohio State - If Oden is a dominant as they're saying he is, they'll be this high if not higher. 5. Kansas - Brandon Rush will be back and they have an excellent class coming in. Also returning Mario Chalmers, CJ Giles, Julian Wright and Sasha Kahn, I believe. A lot of talent, but I still think Bill Self is a questionable coach. 6. Texas - Even if Aldridge goes pro, Daniel Gibson will be back as perhaps the best PG in the land to team with freshman Kevin Durant who many believe is the second best player in the 2006 class. Could be higher than this. 7. Georgetown - Good returning core of players (Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green) from a Sweet 16 team that took Florida to the wire plus two solid recruits coming in Vernon Macklin and DaJuan Summers. 8. Georgia Tech - Good juniors returning Anthony Morrow, 16 ppg and Ra'Sean Dickey 13 ppg plus they've signed two McDonald's all-americans in Thaddeus Young and Javaris Crittenton (both are considered top 10 recruits in the 2006 class). 9. Duke - They'll have Paulus and McRoberts back (unless he opts for the draft) along with two good freshman. I can't see them slipping out of the top 10. I don’t remember the last time Duke finished out of the top 10 or 15. 10. Louisville - Jenkins, Padgett and Palacios are all solid and a good recruiting class (Caracter, Clark, Smith, Sosa) will give them the depth they need to be much improved. Terrance Williams will also be improved. Honorable mention: Memphis, Villanova, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Washington

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) Ozzie is gonna use the bench a lot this year. I really don't see what's wrong with doing that, he did it last year and kept guys fresh. I think it's a good strategy but I sense I'm the only one on the site who does. I like it over the long haul, but the season just started...What are we resting guys for? Also Ozuna should not be playing the outfield, I'd rather have Gload out there facing a lefty than putting Ozuna in left field. What I would like to see is the real lineup used 85% of the time and then get guys days off when they need them.
