Sox Front Office to get Reality Show
ChiSox_Sonix replied to MattZakrowski's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) I would be more interested in this if it focused around the trade deadline or the draft. I think they said filming would begin in ST and run through the trade deadline. -

Sox Front Office to get Reality Show

This could end up being legendary. The number of reality TV shows i will be watching just doubled (I watch Amazing Race) -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) Pierre is a .290-.300 hitter who is good for a .330-.350 OBP and steals 30+ bases a year at a 75-80% clip. That's a perfect #9 hitter and relegating him to the bench with a $4M salary is an incredibly dumb idea. It's even dumber to rely on him to play RF or CF when Quentin suffers yet another injury. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) You do realize that Pierre hasn't put up those types of numbers for more then a two month span in about 5 years, right? Actually since 2006 Pierre is sporting a .294 BA, .330 OBP and is 192/251 in SB attempts, good for 76%. So basically he is exactly what WCSox said he was, albeit on the low end. And I know Pierre doesnt walk, and his OBP isn't ideal for a player such as himself but I didnt realize how this guy doesnt strike out. For his career he has more walks than K's. Whatever that's worth.

Davies back in France Says he's about a month away from training with his club team and he hopes to be in match shape before the French Ligue 1 ends in May. Amazing. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Because there had to have been a beginning. A beginning does not just "exist," it has to be created. There is no answer for how elements or energy exist without a "they were created by..." It is impossible to prove the creation of the universe. At best, we can theorize that, after that first step, steps 2 through X happened in Y way. And to me personally, I believe that is a very compelling reason for the existence of some sort of greater "power". However, just because something is unproveable at present does not mean it will be in 10, 50, 100, 1000 years or beyond. Also, what you are using is an argument using a lack of evidence to prove a theory, whereas the Big Bang uses actual measured and observed actions. That is what makes them entirely different. No one is saying that one is silly or better than another, but what we are saying is that they are not on equal footing in terms of what is used or can be used to support each said theory. In fact, they are not even comparable. The scientific theory of creation is leaps and bounds more factually supported than any form of pure relgious creation story i've ever heard of.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Really? So taking a theory like the Big Bang is so vastly different than a theory about an old bearded guy in the sky? Don't both require a belief in something that's entirely unprovable (God, or the existence of elements that just happened to be hangin' around in space). Not really. I'm not claiming to be up on my metaphysics or whatever that field of study is called, but they can make some pretty good guesses/claims/theories based on actual verified and recorded evidence. Take a few minutes to read about what CERN is doing and you will see that. I am a Catholic, but the only "theory" supporting the existence of (a) God is pure faith. Faith and documented scientific fact/evidence are not the same thing.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) With Damon there is no good reason to ever DH Vizquel. With Damon it would probably mean goodbye to Nix and thus Vizquel would be our only backup at 3 IF positions. For that reason alone he would probably never DH.

I might be in the minority but I'm actually hating the whole alternate storyline thing

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Play-off hopefuls. World Series long-shots but you never know once you get into the post season with that rotation. This. Even with the current rotating DH issue and offensive question marks, this team should be in contention for the division all year long. And, if you believe this team is capable of winning the division, then how could you not consider them a World Series hopeful with the rotation we have? Everyone talks about how pitching wins once you enter the post season and not many teams could counter what we could throw up there 1-4

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 09:05 AM) I'll say this again - why do people keep thinking that the supposed DET offer rumor is 100% correct? I think we've seen in this case that we can't even know if the DET money is indeed significantly higher. It might not be. If it was, I think he would have signed there by now. Seems a lot more likely to me that the offers are close, and that we have no idea what the numbers actually are. Or he would really prefer to play somewhere else and is giving whatever other teams are also interested every last possible moment to come up with a comparable offer...
-
As much as I would love Damon to sign here, I'm not counting on it at all. The money is apparently not close between the teams and if the Sox aren't willing to up their offer I don't expect him to sign here. How often do players actually accept the lesser offer when it is apparently significant? Plus, we're dealing with Borass here. It'd be awesome if he signed, but I'll believe it'll actually happen when I see it.

I used to live in Germany so I've been to Paris a few times. It's cool, a lot of stuff to do there. If you are into art and history The Louvre is obviously a must-do. Notre Dame Cathedral is quite impressive as well, as are the Luxembourg Gardens. And although it's kinda cliche and pricey you could always try to get dinner in the Eiffel Tower. The Pantheon there also has some very famous people buried there. I'd also agree with the suggestion to go see Versailles and Reims. Strasbourg is also an interesting city and it is very Germanic so it would give you a slightly different culture experience. Bayeux is also close enough to get to and you could see the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont St Michel is nearby too. Or you could also take a day and do a wine tour of the Champagne region as well. I would recommend avoiding Belgium all together. It could keep you interested for a day I guess but I didn't think much of it. Amsterdam isn't far away and would probably be more enjoyable. As for London, Stonehenge is only a couple hours away so that could be done in addition to another activity the same day. If I ever make it to London I know the Tower of London would be near the top of my list. Canterbury Cathedral is doable by train from London too. If you're into soccer, an EPL match would sure be a lot of fun. And if your fiancee likes to shop she'd love Picadilly Circus. Supposedly it's Londons version of Madison Avenue in NYC

My uncle was just there for a couple weeks on business. He said there are definitely sketchy areas where you should not go but there are also many places where it's safe. It's about staying where you should I guess he said. He was there for work so they had guides constantly with them though.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Pre-ordered Heavy Rain, lets hope its worth even half the hype. Also, I really want to play Dante's Inferno, but every review I've seen mentioned the overly-obvious "God of War" feel to the game. Hell, I'll probably still end up getting it eventually, but I'm gonna play God of War 1 and 2 first. Hated the Dante's Inferno demo. Hack and slash with bleh graphics IMO. Also played the Heavy Rain demo last night. Not sure it's a game I'd like. Didn't like the control scheme but I only played it for 15 minutes so maybe it's something I'd get used to if I gave it a shot.

QUOTE (SI1020 @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Yes he did. He's only done it twice in his career. Once in 01 for Minn and last year one time for us. espn.com's player stats say otherwise. But regardless, using the fact he DH'ed 1 time last year as a reason why he can DH this year is absurd. (I'm aware you weren't the one to bring that up)

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 12, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) AJ DH'd last season. No he didn't.
