  1. Wise leadoff single. Wouldn't mind a hit and run play here.
  2. How many times are we gonna ground to the pitcher today? That's 3 already.
  3. I really thought we were gonna see an RBI hit there
  4. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) Carlos Beltran has the Swine flu but the Mets will not admit it. Is this a serious post?
  5. Alexei's gotta get him over in that situation
  6. Pods manages to get on again Leadoff man aboard
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:37 PM) Im confusing bias with common sense. Fixed.
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) That's not a strawman, it's a direct analogy. Mathematically correct? Yes. Common sense equivalent? GMAB
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:14 PM) How is it not? My father came from a family including lots of "X" still does not mean my father = "X". For real? Comparing gender to anything such as religion is just ridiculous. "My father came from a family with generations of Muslims." Generations=At least parents + grandparents. Probably more, but you can't tell from that statement. It's West Africa. It's tradition-rich and he came from a village (right?) not a city. Traditions, customs, ways of life etc are passed down more so in those situations than in present day big city USA. Pointing out all that about his father absolutely was meant to insinuate he was Muslim. Absolutely without a doubt. Think of who his audience is. How knowledgeable are the general public? To not see that requires massive blinders. For arguments sake, if it wasn't meant to insinuate anything about his father being Muslim, then what the f*** was the point in saying it?
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) My father came from a Ukranian family that includes many women does not = my father is a woman. WOWWWWW Because that is TOTALLY the same thing!!!! Where was that straw man picture StrangeSox posted the other week?
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) Do people on the internet really go far out of their way to make s*** up? How's that say "my father is Muslim?" Seriously? How is the phrase "my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims" not supposed to insinuate that his father was Muslim? And if it wasn't what was the point of that statement? To say that his relatives on his father's side have been Muslim in the past but may or may not still be but they definitely were in the past? GMAB. That totally was meant to point to his father's religious background. I don't give two s***s what religion he or his family is, but I can't see how one can argue that was not what was meant. You make fun of Kap for saying stuff but it seems as if someone is always grasping at something to try and contradict him, no matter what it was he said.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) So Jake Peavy got 2000 posts, and Beckham has less than 500? For shame. :0) Peavy had several days as well. And it also had discussions about Penguins so...
  13. People may argue his long term potential (and rightfully so), but for the time being he has absolutely earned his shot in the bigs. Good for him.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) Rick Porcello's 5-0, 1.50 ERA last month puts him in the lead right now. But yeah, not a lot of impact rookies to this point. Though I see that changing soon (Wieters). Completely forgot about him. I guess if any of Beckham/Wieters/Price have good years here on out they will have decent shots as RoY
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) Yeah, I wouldn't order the jersey yet either. Random question...is anyone currently running away with the ROY award in the AL? Absolutely no one. Elvis Andrus is probably doing the best right now, and his numbers are average at best.
  16. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) The bashing of Jeter's defense is one of the greatest examples of hyperbole in the history of the internet. He should've been moved to 3B a few years ago and he never had great range to begin with. But he was far from a "horrible" defensive SS in his prime. His range was awful and his arm was below average. His glove was decent but when 2 out of 3 are below to well below average that doesn't make for a good defensive shortstop.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) McLouth wasn't the greatest player, but he was the Pirates best player, and they traded him for practically nothing. And now their replacing him with a rookie who has a career .285 BA in the minors and doesn't hit for much power, and will likely have a bad K:BB ratio in the majors. The Pirates are still a joke of an organization. Their #4 and #7 prospect with Charlie Morton as an add-in is a nothing package? Huh...
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 03:37 AM) Well that wasnt pretty. 1. Wynne sucks. That couldnt mark the dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's. 2. That first goal shouldnt have happened. Couldnt even clear the ball from the back line which seems to happen a lot. And as usual, Beasley was in the mix. 3. We've been hearing how Onewyu wants out of Belgium since WC06. I know he's big but damn he is slow. Especially looked slow on the turf tonight during the second goal. 4. A win Saturday and we can forget about this game. A win is huge now since the following game will be at Azteca. I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of Adu this Saturday now that Bradley and Sacha is out. Whats wrong with Kljestan? I agree about Wynne. I only watched the first half, but the only one who looked good to me was Torres. I loved Jozy getting the start but where was he? It wasn't all his fault that they couldn't get the ball to him but he was invisible. Agreed on Beasley. He needs to be kept at midfield, he is not a defender. Disappointing but not completely unexpected. A win saturday and they are fine.
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 07:03 AM) We sure he plays tonight? Could be tough after going from Charlotte to Chicago overnight. I wanna watch live so I am hoping for tomorrow, but I taped it, so I can watch later, if necessary. He's supposed to according to Ozzie. And Charlotte to Chicago flight is only a couple hours, so that really shouldn't be an issue.
  20. So Gordon Beckham gets called up on my birthday. Nice! Very excited about this. I do have some reservations, just because it isnt often players come up and produce so soon after getting drafted. Can't remember how excited I was for someone's debut before.
  21. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) Huh? He's just being a smartass. Twitter allows you to post up to 140 characters. If you get to meet him, make sure you are wearing some sort of Sox apparel.
  22. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) USA vs. Costa Rica tonight in San Jose, CR. Then USA vs. Honduras here in Chicago, I'm trying my hardest to get to that game I just wish the game didn't start at 10. US hasn't won in Costa Rica in a while IIRC. The stands are pretty much on the field and there is a fence between them. Very, very hostile environment. I'll be happy if they can get a draw.
  23. Please no. Way too big of a head case for me.
