QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) I wouldn't say they played sloppy, but overall, they were just plain flat. Barca put on a passing display. They were faster than than ManU. United just didn't look ready to play, I'd say 7/10 times Manchester wins this match because of their fantastic defense, but it just wasn't there today. Barca definitely deserved it. Yeah i just followed via that live commentary ESPN has some guy do. He made it sound as if Puyol of all people had a couple golden opportunities and that Eto'o burned Carrick and Vidic for that first goal. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) This would be a huge mistake. Any time the surgical resection of the plantar fascia is done, the results poor. It rarely resolves the pain and the foot become very unstable and causes excess wear on the posterior tibialis, anterior tibialis and flexor hallucis tendons. Tendonitis will appear in these tendons and everything is a mess. His description is also somewhat superficial. The plantar fascia is a band of tissue which goes from the front part of the heel to the base of the first 4 toes. Its primary purpose is to support the arch especially during the latter part of gait when the heel comes off the ground. When the heel comes off the ground the toes extend and this motion pulls the plantar fascia tight and supports the arch. This is why running will aggravate very quickly. If its inflammed even putting weight on the arch hurts. The arch supports are used as a replacement for some of this support. Conservative treatment of shoe wear modification, rest and atni-inflammatory modalities is the best approach. He will need to miss time and it will probably be extended time but unless he wants it to be a lifetime long problem he needs to do it now. I'm so glad you post here.

Barcelona best Man U 2-0 (Eto'o and Messi) to win the UEFA Champions League trophy. From the live blog of the game it sounds as if Man U was real sloppy and played quite poorly -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 27, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) Winston-Salem already lost 6-0. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...80&sid=t580 Salvador Sanchez is 1 for his last 39! That's an .026 BA. He had gotten it over .265 at one point and I thought he might be putting things together. Nope.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) Maybe recently, but prior to 05 I believe Anaheim was one of the worst places for them to play, as they would always go on their West Coast trip and come back with a pretty horrid record(kind of like the current Toronto house of horrors). In the past couple years they have stepped it up though I thought their house of horrors out west was Oakland?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Right, PODS is just taking two small shuffle steps. Part of his problem at the plate has always been his balance ie: getting his front foot on the ground quickly, and a level swing plane. His shuffle somehow forces him to plant his feet and also to level off the bat. Its a pretty good exercise at home if you want to try it. Some of us will lead with our hips when we hit, I do this alot when I golf. Now try it with the two small shuffles very quickly, see how it keeps your shoulders back and level? I actually started doing something similar last year in my softball leagues to keep me from not stepping out and dropping my elbow. I just make sure when I stride to tap my back foot with my lead foot first. I dont know why but it helps.

The starting pitcher the White Sox WILL acquire

IF he would accept an assignment to AAA, I'd sign him in an instant. You can't teach his stuff. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Hypothetically, if we could get Oswalt for Shelby, Cook, Retherford, and Omogrosso. Would you do it? Of course. Only top notch prospect leaving would be Shelby, who has struggled this year. No way Houston would do that though, as it would be a horrid trade for them. Cook is not a prospect and Retherford has no value as a prospect.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) it's insane how much superstars or their teams in the playoffs get away with or a favorable call. The last minure of the Cavs/Magic regulation last night is a great example of that. If that's Hedo on the other end instead of James driving it's not called and the refs say he stumbled on his own, then the ridiculous no call when Varejo (sp?) undercuts and moves Howard off his spot. Luckily the Magic overcame it. To the day I die I will believe the refs cost the Kings Game 6 (and the series) of the Lakers series several years back b/c they called a foul every time sometime dared to breath in the direction of Shaq. I also believe that they were instructed to do so.

They (does'nt even matter what country) need to get someone(s) in there to take out the leadership of that country. Then, expose the masses to the realities of the world around them and what could be available to them. Show them what life is like in countries where the ruler doesn't sacrifice the welfare of his people in exchange for absolute rule and fanatic ideologies. Send in aid and back a conservative, pro-western person(s) to lead the country. Reverse propagandize it to show the people of the country that we aren't teh bad guys, but that those who used to "lead" them were.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 27, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Melanie is too top tall. Anyone? Anyone? I kinda agree. Barely would qualify as a complaint though for me.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2009 -> 09:56 AM) Basketball is a joke when it comes to officiating. The person who selected hockey has no idea what they are talking about. I selected basketball b/c it is obviously by far the sport most affected by "stardom officiating". I can see an argument made for hockey that stars get calls though. Too often it seems hockey referees call based on results rather than what was done. If it was Lidstrom who hit Burisch in game 3 i doubt he gets a gamer. But it was Kronwall on Havlat so he got tossed for a borderline clean hit. NHL officials are very protective of their star players IMO. Maybe it isnt the officials calling in favor of stars in the NHL but more of a pussification of the game being driven by Buttman and Cornhole Campbell that's bothering me. But it does seem to me that hockey referees do make calls often based on players reputations. But ya, it isn't even in the same universe as the NBA

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 26, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Anybody who has NHL 09 for PS3 have any tips on the best way to shoot? Ive been gambling on this game and Im pretty sure there has to be a better way at shooting or at least some little tricks. All I basically know are wrist shots, slap shots and pathetic one timers. Try taking snap shots, floating a puck in from the point when you have a guy on front, wrap arounds, purposely shoot low and away at the goalies leg pad so there is a rebound to the far side, or taking a wrister with a defenseman between you and the goalie b/c sometimes the goalie will react late cuz they can't see the puck. Also, faking a slap shot from the point sometimes gets the defender to go down allowing you to skate in for a closer shot or more likely for a shot to get through.

QUOTE (scenario @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) He sucked in April... batting .143 in 70 at-bats. Looks pretty good in May... batting .324 in 71 at-bats... including going 15-38 (.395) over his last 10 games. Also, he struck out 20 times in April... only 5 times so far in May. Sounds like he's adjusted to the pitching in low-A. And he's still only 20 years old and less than two years removed from being the 33rd overall pick out of high school. At this point in his career, writing him and saying he sucks is ignorant

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) According to Barry Rozner, this isn't over yet. Ugh...

All of a sudden, when I open up a thread, instead of seeing the posts like normal this is what happens. How do I change it back to be able to view a thread regularly? Thanks!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) Mainly because of the Peavy roller coaster, Soxtalk had 2340 posts yesterday. Just curious, but what's the record? I'd imagine it would be from the WS winner or maybe even the Freddy Garcia trade day

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) Reading Angels and Demons. Don't care what anyone says, it isn't as good as The Da Vinci Code. You're right. It is much, much better.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:00 PM) e3 2009 is just 10 days away. Should be interesting as ever with the format going back to its 2007 form. Maybe Nintendo will finally unveil their cards. I'll pray for a new Zelda. Im hoping for more info on MAG and Diablo 3 at E3

If anyone really would rather ditch BA in favor of Wise/Pods you need to re-think what makes a bad baseball player and what makes a terrible baseball player

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) My best friend has been a bathroom reader since he was a kid, and one time he just starts spouting off all of these random facts, and I asked him where he got it from, it turns out he was reading a book called "The Bathroom Book" which is full of random stories and facts. lol Uncle John's Bathroom Reader!!! I have a few editions of those...

QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) I will gladly accept that. Ya I don't think Ely has too high of a ceiling. But from reports it's been saying the Pads will continue scouting the PTBNL list so I doubt we hear about them right away if this ends up happening

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) Actually, that is two interesting questions. 1. Who is the Sox' current emergency pitcher from the position players? 2. If you were managing, who of the position players would you pitch? Betemit or Corky Miller
