  1. See thats a situation where Gload should have pinch hit
  2. a walk followed by 2 outs in 2 pitches...nice
  3. Why can we never call up anyone who can make any sort of positive immediate impact??? It seems the Twins have 2 or 3 a year who do that
  4. Vazquez deserved to win today and in Boston but will get neither thanks to our so very consistent offense...pathetic
  5. Martinez hits righties considerably better than lefties and Choo, a lefty was due up 3rd...Thornton definitely should have started the inning
  6. 6 pitch inning, 18 over the last 2...just awful approaches at the plate
  7. I dont know exactly how this works but since Owens was called up prior to Aug. 31 and was immediately put on the DL, does that, in essence, mean that there is an available playoff spot for himself or someone else (Hermanson, Sweeney, Logan)??? I remember the Frankie Rodriguez thing a few years back but not the actual details. Let's say we make the playoffs and we have some September call up who just plays great from here on out. Is there any way someone like a Logan or Hermanson (or someone else) could be elgibile to play through some loophole claiming someone was hurt and on the DL?
  8. How old is Ryan Wing now? I remember him being one of our better pitching prospects but was lost somehow to Texas and kept getting hurt. Is there any realistic chance that he still may make it to the majors one day?
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) Some double a noob. If we can't rock him, we don't deserve to win...unless we mount an impressive rally in the ninth! Ya its Johnson...my local paper said the same thing. I actually played against him in high school, our team hit him pretty well actually that game. Just kinda interesting to see him starting in the majors now.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) You know the interesting thing? The Cardinals have a guy, Marquis I think, who they use for that. I sort of wonder sometimes whether or not there might be a couple of pitchers in the AL who might be able to hold together a .250 average if they were given the chance to hit every now and again. I mean, usually in places like little league, the guys on the mound were the best athletes on the team, some of that stuff has to carry over for a few of these guys. The Marlins do it with Willis too
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ May 30, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) haha awesome
  12. take out Gooch and sub Crede and this 4 could push those stats by the 2000 quartet
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 12:24 PM) Looks like he is overthrowing and missing his spots to me. the ump also isnt helping...its an awfully low high strike today
  14. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) UConn and Duke are probably a stretch in the last two spots. Gay is almost certainly gone, and Williams could be too. If they lose both of those guys, they'll really struggle. They'll still be good if somehow Gay, Williams, and Boone are all back, but not only is that unlikely, I still think some of the teams on that list will be better. Duke needs some guys to step up big time to avoid a drop into the teens. Even if McRoberts stays, either Nelson or Henderson is going to have to turn in a big time performance, and that's already assuming that Paulus and McRoberts play pretty well. They don't have as much talent on the roster as they have in the past. I already posted my list in the recruiting thread. Personally, I think OSU and UNC have to prove themselves a bit before anyone puts them 1 or 2 in the pre-season polls, since so many of their key players are going to be freshmen and sophmores. Either that or many of the other teams on that list have to lose some talent. im a UCONN fan and i also disagree with Vitale. However, if Boone and Williams come back (which is not out of the realm of possibilities), coupled with the return (maybe) of AJ Price and their other 3 freshmen plus a decent incoming class I could see them as a potential top 10 team by the end of the year. Also, Duke will be worse than they finished this year so how can he have them so high i dont know
  15. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Playing high school was alot better, its hard to find a game in college when your under age, plus damn residence halls dont allow the whole gambling thing so people are too scared to play dam, residence halls dont allow poker??? that sucks. i live off-campus now but ours had no problem
  16. QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 2, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) the poker fad is not even close to fading yes it is...being in college right now i can see a significant decrease in interest from last year
  17. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) real small http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:aMbP...s8/4627d810.jpg bigger http://www.rememberdt.com/pic23.htm thanks....you dont happen to have a close-up tho do you?
  18. I dunno exactly where to put this so i'll put it here for now. I've been looking for a while of a specific picture of Derrick Thomas i'm sure most of you will be able to recall. In a game against Seattle, in KC, 6 or 7 years ago, there was a torrential downpour. And when i say it was a downpour i mean it in every sense of the word. Water accumulated on the field. Anyways, there is an image that often got played afterwards and again after his death in tributes to him. It's of him, sitting on the ground having just removed his helmt, and there is rain pouring down his face. I dunno why, but that image has always stuck in my head when i am reminded of him and i've searched for that pic for a while without luck. So, if anyone knows what i'm talking about and has a pic or could help i would really appreciate it. Thanks
  19. I'll start the "Salvador Sanchez Bandwagon" haha
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 07:40 AM) If he had a 4.22 ERA in AAA, I'd hate to see what he's like in the majors. Keep in mind that was pitching for AAA Albuquerque...offensive numbers are much inflated in the PCL. Just throwin it out there
