  1. Mackowiak is hot this month, hitting 465 in July now, over .280 for the year. Could we get anything for Mack? Not talking a lot here but maybe some relief prospect?
  2. The details are nauseating. Guilty or not of what he is being indicted of, Vick is clearly by no means innocent. What his involvement was exactly still needs to be determined but I'd be ashamed of having such a human being on my sports team especially as the face of the franchise.
  3. Would Hawk then be able to say that "Hu's on second"?
  4. i just heard a clip on the radio this morning where he blames all his problems on women. Then andre kramer asked if he takes any responsibility and he responds "well i picked 'em" This guy should really not ever talk in public again
  5. on a positive note, Haeger at least did his job last night
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 14, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) I'm starting to like this kid. I believe another poster mentioned to keep an eye on him. That was me. Although i cant claim i have any info on him other than reading the box scores and looking up his stats and age. By the way, he's also 6-5 so he has a ton of power potential with a frame like that at his age
  7. anyone see the preview and read the write up about the Assassin's Creed update? Now that is a game i am extremely anxious to start playing (november release for ps3 I believe)
  8. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) no human being on the face of this earth is worth $30 million a year. Not true. If that player in return brings in more $$$ in revenue from ads and marketing, merchandise sales, increased ticket sales and any revenue from potential championships he helps attain then they are worth that much. Not saying ARod is, but MJ probably was.
  9. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=221131&cc=5901 U.S. beat Uruguay 2-1 the other day to advance to the quarterfinals v.s. Austria on saturday
  10. That Jose Martinez kid is putting up some real good numbers down in Bristol. I know its just low Rookie but he's still 18 (for a couple more weeks) and put up a decent line in the VSL at 17/18 last year. Just sayin we might wanna keep an eye on him in the next couple years.
  11. I think we were going with "in our lifetime"...born in the 80's here so i never saw him (minus highlight reels)
  12. The post count doesnt bother me but I do think itd be cool if we could somehow save the Joined date
  13. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Thats pretty much all that needs to be said about it Ide like to see Babe Ruth playing in todays game, he wouldn't be able to do s*** I'd argue the exact opposite that the talent pool is thinner now due to their being 3 times as many teams with guys on major league rosters who would strugggle to make it in AAA back then.
  14. I too watched the game and came away very impressed. Adu did not dominate the game at all, but he did stand out as one of the better players there. Also, i liked Altidore but to me he seems like a more athletic version of a Clint Mathis/Brian McBride and will be a on dimensional player. Didnt see much out of Szetela, which was disappointing b/c i'd heard a lot about him coming in. All in all it seems like a promising group of youngsters. Also, was it me or did Brazil's defense look really bad? I did notice Jo and Pato(sp?) up front for them. They look like they'll be good ones, although Pato didnt strike me as the "prodigy" people use when talking about him. And Jo looks like a young Didier Drogba. Brazil's gonna have another crop of good forwards.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) If we're talking my lifetime, I'll take Griffey. Best pure hitter in my lifetime and I'll take Tony Gwynn.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Wait, it's only 18 months? Report is one year is NTC guarenteed (I think) and then after 18 months, of which there is no protection, his 10-5 would kick in...so essentially, i beleiev it is over 18 months
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Neither Garland or Buehrle has textbook great stuff. And if you ask a scout, they'd say Garland has the better stuff. Of course, I'm sure our scouts would tell you Garland throws 94 mph with a dynamite change. I'd tend to agree, there's a reason Garland has been higher rated coming up as a prospect...not necessarily because he is a better pitcher but based on pure stuff it could be argued Garland has better. That has nothing to do on how good of a pitcher they are but im just saying it's 'iffy' to me who would be rated higher on the basis of pure 'stuff'
  18. It just makes me sick to think we probably wont be seeing any more of this for the next 4 years because KW wont give in to 18 months of a NTC...i really hope someone rips him a new one at SoxFest next year
  19. Dye now 1-19 in July...he's killing his trade value so much right now we may just want to hang on to him and take the draft picks
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) So we have reports from the Trib that Buerhle is cleaning out his locker today. And now we have one of his friends pitching like s***. You wonder how much of this crap wears on the players when trade rumors are like blood in the water. I hadnt heard anything about this. Could you expand at all on it? But, if true its not surprising b/c Jon and MB are very close and they pretty much have been in Chicago together most of their careers
  21. I'm not watching. How is he bad? Is he up in the zone? Missing his spots? Sinker not moving?
  22. I cant understand how Hanley Ramirez and Curtis Granderson didnt make it, let alone not even being put on the last man ballot
