  1. If Miggy can be kept motivated and in shape, then he has the chance to be one of the best players of this current generation. Look at his career numbers right now. He is only 24 and if he stays in shape and motivated he will have a place in Cooperstown. This is a deal you do whatever you can to make happen.
  2. If those are the options i'd rather have Uribe for $5M. Ya he'll hit .220 and frustrate us all to hell but he still is capable to playing great defense (heres hoping this year was just an abberation) and how many SS can you legitimately expect to hit 20HR with 70RBI? Not a ton.
  3. Wing and Bourgeois should be kept...other than them i dont really care about keeping any others. Rogo wouldnt be bad to bring back but i dont see much there.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) He hasn't said anything about ruling out Bonds though. Please no.
  5. Interesting, i was actually wondering the same thing earlier today as i read the history of the white sox on wikipedia haha
  6. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Anybody with PS3 have Madden and college football? I have NCAA 08 for PS3 and it is awesome. I dont have Madden but heard it wasn't that great for PS3
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) usually they have to go to an after hours bar to get picked up though
  8. I was recently at a Japanese sushi bar with a friend of mine and he insisted we keep doing sake bomgbs. While fun at first, i quickly realized that i was getting very drunk and was on the verge of getting sick, something i really did not want to have happen. So, i finally just had to tell Hideo, Nomo.
  9. I can still vividly remember exactly where i was and who i was with when that last out occured. I was a senior in college and a bunch of friends of mine (all yankee fans, so they were rooting against me just for fun) and we were drinking. I can still remember exactly what it felt like when that out was made. Like others have said, its hard to explain, but i can still remember it as if it just happened. Then we all went out and i could not have been in a better mood that night.
  10. Little surprised to see UCONN not crack the initial top 25...i really think they are gonna suprise people this year. They have tons of talent, its just that their top 10 guys last year were literally all sophomores and freshmen (mostly freshmen)
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) I assume you meant West of Cleveland. Since, you know, you are from New York, and Charlotte is east of Cleveland. ... Hmm, ya, good call. That would make a lot more sense haha.
  12. I've never broken a bone or had stitches I've never seen Spinal Tap. I've never been east of Cleveland or south of Charlotte I've never bought marijuana I've never been on a cruise. I've never cheated on someone I've never been arrested I've never had a positive experience on a night i chose to drink tequila...
  13. I've never seen Top Gun all the way through. Never seen an episode of Sopranos or Entourage And unfortunately never been to a White Sox game outside of Yankee Stadium (been to 4 in the past coupke years)
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 24, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) For anyone who's got FIFA 2008, apparently Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is better. FIFA's been getting in the high 8's, Pro Evolution's been getting around 9.5 out of 10 for its reviews. Not sure if it's called that or Winning Eleven Soccer International or something like that. The only thing about it that annoys me, they only have official licenses for the EPL with Tottenham and Newcastle I think. But they still have all of the right players. I bought FIFA though b/c the lack of licenses that PES has bothers me.
  15. The '97 Series was quite something too. Game 7 being tied in the ninth of a pitchers duel and ending on a walkoff in extras. i believe its the only Game 7 to ever go extras. It may not compare to 2001, but as a whole that series had a lot going on as well.
  16. "Funny thing about my back..."
  17. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) Anybody remember Wesley "Two Scoops" Berry? Ha, actually, i do.
  18. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...res/265012.html The International League Top 20 is out and Josh Fields came in at #4 (behind Bruce, Bailey and i forget who was 3). Danny Richar and Ryan Sweeney were mentioned in the blurb as up for consideration but not making the final cut. If anyone is a subscriber, you should ask just how close those two were and what people feel about them.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) Kind of wierd logic I know, but I guess my thinking is that I'm willing to risk going with JO in the OF more and potentially lose some offense generation at that point more if I feel we've gained some run generation by upgrading at SS, and an upgrade at SS potentially gives us another leadoff option if Owens does wet the bed. You mention getting more offensive production at SS, but i think people often fail to realize that over the past few seasons Juan Uribe has consistently been around the 20HR/70 RBI range. I dont know if theres anyone out there we can upgrade with to significantly better those numbers.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 08:10 AM) He's not the worst option, and not nearly as bad as some people here make him out to be. But he does have some serious flaws. Positives... --Owens had a .342 OBP during his callup since early July - already close to what Pods had in 2005 --Obviously Jerry is both fast, and a good basestealer (seems like he hovers around 80%, excellent for a rookie) --His overall defense in CF (arm excluded for now) was pretty decent, certainly better than most of us expected --He is getting good at bunting and situational hitting --His athleticism allows him to improve quickly in most areas Negatives... --He has virtually zero power. He might develop this over time, but as of now, he doesn't even hit enough doubles and triples yet --His arm is weak. Like, really weak. It may or may not be caused by an injury, but its still an issue in any case If I recall correctly, Owens is playing fall ball in Arizona. If he can start to develop at least some gap power and raise his doubles/triples numbers, and if that arm really will get better after healing in the offseason, then I think he is not the worst guy to start on a good team. That all said, he still (even if those two things get better) is not as good an option as a Hunter, Rowand or other players being talked about here (in which case Owens makes a nifty 4th OF). But if we cannot acquire a player at that level, and if we are able to seriously upgrade SS and maybe 2B, then I for one would be OK with Owens starting in 2008. I am in the small minority that believes that. I completely agree. I can thionk of a lot worse things than Owens starting next year. Yes, he has some flaws without a doubt. But, he was a rookie who hit nearly .270 with a decent OBP following his second callup and stole 30 bases in half a season. Its not as if hes a 37 year old 10 year veteran putting up those kind of numbers. Its true he is/was old for a rookie. But he was old in years, not experience. Remember, he focused on football for a long time before switching to baseball. IMO, Owens has room and the ability to improve and i really would not mind giving him a chance next year.
  21. Kyle McCulloch rnaks #20 and thats it for our High-A team. The blurb mentions Schnurstein leading the league in HRs but also mentions that it was a year after spending one in AA. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...res/264949.html
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) Pilar back to ATL. Just for the for what its worth category, Karel Pilar is Czech and although it seems impossible to get a pronunciation of "Pee-lahsh" out of Pilar, that is in fact the correct pronunciation.
  23. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Best part about it is two other future's bets are panning out so far as well in the same day. Maddux 13.5 wins over 180 to win 150 Phillies win division 257 to win 514 I lost a bet on the Sox winning over 87.5 games, but all in all it was a very successful wagering season with the day to day amounts leading the charge for me. You should give half to whoever/whatever lit the fire under his ass the past few weeks
  24. What, no one looking forward to Cavemen??? haha I'm looking forward to Lost and 24 but until they come back its all returning programs: Prison Break, office, 30 Rock, ER, Earl, Til Death, and hopefully Traveler comes back
