Official Recruiting Thread II
ChiSox_Sonix replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Anyone hear anything new about Tyreke Evans or John Riek? I know Evans is considering UConn, L'Ville, 'Nova, Memphis and the Hall but i havent heard where he is leaning. I'd guess Memphis since Rose will be leaving and Uconn has Kemba Walker coming in. And last i heard about Riek was Uconn was the only school recruiting him becuase the belief is he is gonna skip school and do some AAU type program and go to the NBA the following year. I dont understand it, its some loophole. I do know he'd be great in Storrs replacing Thabeet who's probably gone after this year. -

I cant see McFadden falling that far. He's an excellent runner, has good vision, can break tackles with his strength, obviously is very fast, he can catch, hell he can even throw the ball, and hes just a smart player. The only thing that could hurt him are these supposed atttude problems, but i have not heard any substantial comments on that. He could fall a little due to teams not needing him, but i would be shocked if he wasnt in the top 7 picks. -
On an unrelated note, i was just cruising through some wikipedia pages on Lost and was shocked to discover that Jack and Claire were half-siblings. I guess i never caught on to that.

I figured i'd make one of these to keep track of everything that happens in the off season and discuss it separate from making threads everytime something happens. It can be about free agency, the combine, the draft, mini-camp, whatever... Anyways, a quick recap of some significant things so far: Trufant (SEA), Haynesworth (TEN), Allen (KC) all franchised D. Clark signed to a 6-yr extension Z. Thomas cut by MIA, rumored to have been offered a contract by NE Keyshawn Johnson mulling a comeback

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) He better not get enough plate appearances to get anywhere close to 65 SBs, unless its at AAA. But the other side to that statement is, if he is close to or surpasses 65 SB doesnt that mean he probably is getting on at a rate that wouldnt make it a bad thing for him to have a lot of ABs?

QUOTE(iamshack @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) If we're strictly going by breasts here, I can't argue a thing that's been said. But if we are talking total package...I'll take Kate Beckinsale everytime, hands down. I feel theres only one way to settle this... ...we need another hot chick contest

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Just played the demo for MLB The Show '08. This game might be pretty good. i did as well on ps3. i only played 2 innings but my initial thought was that it was essentially the same as last years, which i thought was just average. Regardless, i need a baseball game and have never liked 2K so i'll prolly be getting The Show

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 10:01 AM) I like the drama, plus the whole thing about it happening right now and not taped like Survivor and stuff in intriguing to me. I've watched every season since 1, sue me. i havent watched Big Brother for a few seasons but i'm watching it this year. And there was a new show on last night, Dexter, about a serial killer who works as a forensic analyst during the day. The catch is he only kills people who "deserve" it and the cops cant get to them for whatever reason. It was well written, it was strangely fascinating.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) I'd say Fabregas is one of the top 5 players in the world actually SoxFan1. His standing in England has risen HUGELY this season. Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Kaka and Fabregas argubly the top 4 players in the world right now, and they're all 25 or under. I'd keep Ronaldhino in that top 4 still before including Fabregas. -

Well i'm glad ESPN felt the St. Johns-Cincy game was a better choice than UCONN-ND last night but whatever. Glad that UCONN won. 8 game winning streak vs 8 quality opponents too. Assuming they handle South Florida on saturday they should be a top 15 team (maybe as high as 12-13) by the next poll. -

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) So did Nova. I can't believe the refs called that foul with .01 seconds left. That officiating crew should be ashamed of themselves. That call should never, ever be made. What great game and it gets soured because of that. 'Nova did a great job fighting to get back into it at the end, i would have loved to see that game go to OT. Unfortunate -

http://www.hockeyfights.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92822 There's a thread on the Zednik incident if anyone wants to check it out. There is a video on page 1 and 3 and 2 pictures in page 2. The images are graphic and there is a picture where you can just see the fear in his eyes as he is going to the bench. It kind of makes your stomach turn, but if anyone wants to see it there it is. Best of luck to him in his recovery. -

Ghana finishes 3rd beating Ivory Coast 4-2. Egypt wins (2nd consecutive) 1-0 over Cameroon in the final. Aboutrika with the goal. (Why he is still playing in the Egyptian league and not in a more prominent league is a shame) -

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) Let's not talk like it's the Gordon family's fault that this stuff happened. They didn't do anything wrong. They didnt do anything wrong but i mean come on, they knew what would likely happen and yet they still put themselves in that situation. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) Was he a convicted felon who nearly killed somebody else? (not to mention, that somebody else was his own teammate). I dont know. But after looking it up i found out that he was sent to juvie for 9 months for gun and cocaine possession in high school and afterwards was sent to an actual jail where he was for 6 months. All i'm trying to say is people change. He certainly has. He had a hard time getting back into a high school but when he finally did he changed his life around. If people shyed due to his past, who knows if he ever would have chosen a better path to take his life down.
