as someone who listens to rap quite a bit i have a major problem with Nelly being on the list. Yes, he has become very "pop-ish" but i can name a hundred rappers who are worse than him. Also, for his time MC Hammer was quite popular, i'm not sure he belongs there, especially so high.

Official 2007-08 College Basketball Thread

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Apr 21, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) From what I have gathered from UNC. Lawson was 99% gone, but may be reconsidering with his injury and the top PG's leaving for the draft this year. Ellington getting some heavy family type pressure to start getting paid, but he would like to stay and develop into a solid first round pick. Hansbrough looked solid in coming back, but with his sweeping of the awards, and the possibility of Ty& Wayne going bye-bye he has become about 50/50 at this point to leave as well. I expect all 3 to declare, but not to take agents and test the waters to see if they warrent enough interest to start making a living and forgo the rest of their care-free college days. If Ellington & Hansbrough return like you hope, they will be a consensus #1 pre season. Have you heard any news on Thabeet? Last i head Calhoun said he was 60/40 towards coming back for one more year. The BET and the NCAAs really hurt his draft stock -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) Link. I knew it was going to be approved, but when i logged on ESPN and saw it it still just made my heart sink. There are so many things wrong with this that i cant even begin to explain how s***ty this is. Every time i see Clay Bennett i want to vomit. I grew up watching the X-man and later GP, the Reign Man, Dale Ellis, Detlef, Nate MacMillan and recently Rashard Lewis, Ray Allen and now Durant and Jeff Green. The Sonics are the only team i've ever loved, the only team i've ever rooted for, the only team i've cared about and followed. 41 years of having a team, including 3 championship appearances (1 win) means nothing to the NBA apparently. David Stern disgusts me. How can he allow this to happen? Bennett is a lieing sack of s***. His "attempt" at keeping them in Seattle was a farce. He chose a s***ty location and his proposal was exorbitant. The city has paid for 2 hgih class stadiums (Seahawks, Mariners) and a renovation to Key Arena all in the last 10 years. Money isnt made on f***ing trees. Its utter bulls*** that they are being punished for showing balls when being confronted and bullied by a billionaire owner trying to milk them for money on a whim. Bennett never intended on staying in Seattle, we all knew that all along. The recent emails only prove it. The fact that David Stern stands by and not only turns a blind eye but excuses it and helps him is ridiculous. Seattle is the #12 market, OKC is in the 40s!!! The f***ing 40s! The NBA is missing out on a great marketing chip of a pacific northwest battle for years between KD and Oden. 41 years of history down the toilet so a pathetic selfish billionaire can buy his toy and bring it home. People should be scared. Ya you dont give two s***s about the Sonics but if it can happen to a big cuty team like them with 41 f***ing years of history then it can happen to anyone. The precedent has been set: if your city doesnt pay the bill, your team might move. OH WELL! Its the 59th minute of the 11th hour for the Sonics, but there is still a smallwindow. The lease will be hard to get out of. I might get to watch the NBA for 2 more years still. The Schultz suit is nothing but a PR move. He's 100% correct but theres no way to prove it without a reasonable doubt. All it will do is cause Bennett to lose money (boo f***ing hoo). Steve Balmers is stepping up and offering to pay for half of a new arena. With two more years who knows. David Stern's vendetta against the Sonics now will almost undoubtedly result in them leaving regardless since hes too busy giving it to his buddy Bennett up the ass. How a commisioner can stand by and SUPPORT the loss of a great franchise with such history is beyond me. Now i know how the Browns and Colts fans felt. It sucks. It really, really sucks. If the Sonics leave i will no longer watch of care about the NBA. That is not a threat, its just what will happen. What would you do if your team left? Im not gonna arbitrarily pick anotehr team. And i'll be damned if i root for OKC. I will never support a team owned by that obnoxious, selfish, self-righteous billionaire asshole Clay Bennett. If another team eventually comes to Seattle and resumes the franchise name and colors (the name probbaly will stay in Seattle) I may follow them, but it wont be the same. If the Sonics leave, the NBA will have successfully alienated me and thousands of Sonics fans in the pacific northwest. Grow a spine David Stern, you are a pathetic, congratulaions, I'm sure you're kids would be proud. [/rant] ps. sorry about the language

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 01:34 PM) Yeah, great episode overall. Thought they made Michael just a little too mean to the land lady, though. I disagree. I thought it was perfect. Michael being mean to her was mostly Michael not even meaning to mean, its just the way he delivers thoughts that it comes out that way. I thought it was a good episode. I think the Jim buying a ring for Pam might be a little quick though.

Keith Brumbaugh, a JUCO player has put his name in there. Anyone know where he will play if he doesnt go to the NBA?
-
This is basically a 6 year deal worth 17 million...if it becomes a 9 year deal, the extra 3 would basically be for 24 million. I also dont totall get it from Longoria's perspective. I mean he is set for the rest of his life now, true, but he may not become a free agent until he is 31. If he develops into the player people think he could become, he could be commanding a contract worth $15M a year in 5 years with the market/inflation/possible performance.

Here's an idea: Uribe has looked completely inept at the plate this year and Alexei has looked over matched for the most part in his limited ABs. So, why not play someone who can actually get the bat on the ball and can realistically hit near .300? (Ozuna)

What teams do you pledge allegiance to?
ChiSox_Sonix replied to shipps's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
In order of importance: Sox UCONN - i live in big east country not too far from connecticut Kansas City Chiefs - used to be a 49er fan...my allegiance went with Montana Seattle Sonics - fell in love with basketball at the same time Payton/Kemp were in their prime FSU football - i dont know...they were good when i was young Ottawa Senators - love hockey, my allegiance here flip flops ever since the Whalers left...we have their AHL team now so i follow them Florida Marlins - wanted to follow the NL more and when they joined MLB figured that was a way to start Liverpool (EPL) - FIFA video games got me started with them Kansas City Wizards (MLS) - I used to like Preki when he was good By the way, my dad doesnt follow sports at all, which is why myself and my brother like random teams (he likes the Indians, Bills, Bulls/Lakers, Notre Dame, Michigan and the Ducks) -

Tyreke Evans just commited to Memphis. Supposedly he can be released from his LOI if Calipari bolts for the NBA though -
Terence Williams from L'Ville has removed his name already.

QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Not trying to open up Pandora's Box or anything, but anyone else thinking it could be Alexei getting sent down to work on hitting breakers when it's time for Richar to come up and not Ando? Alexei should be playing. Since here probably isnt the best for anyone right now, then it should be in AAA

QUOTE (VAfan @ Apr 9, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) Compared to 2006, when we finished third in runs with 868, the first thing I notice is that both Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede are back to their 2006 form. That was Jermaine's best year in the majors offensively. It was also Crede's. Both are way ahead of that pace, which suggests they can come back to earth and still outpace their 2006 numbers. Its been 7 freaking games!!! Yes, it is very encouraging the start they are on, but that does not mean Joe is back. He hadnt played for 10 months before this and he had an awful spring. I would love if he came back and he has started off well, but lots of people can go on a 7 game streak in thie league. And to say they are ahead of their 2006 pace is ridiculous. Its been 7 games. As someone said, Crede is on pace for over 200 RBI. I'm not gonna lie and say i'm not excited or optimistic about this team, because I am. They are playing great to start the year and i am thoroughly enjoying it. However, to get too excited because of 7 games to start the year is irresponsible.
