QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) Bedard and Matthews Jr to Sox for Crede and Paulie. hmmmm. I hate having to take GMJ's contact but to get Bedard it might be something to consider. I dont doubt Anaheim will try and keep Bedard away from Seattle, but i just dont see what they'd ship to Baltimore for PK and Crede...although, maybe they are willing to go higher to get rid of GMJs contract. that being said, if there is any truth to this, i would be more than willing to take that contract to get Bedard in here.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7651196?MSNHPHMA Gossage alone in this years class (plus veterans committee selections). Rice fell 14 votes short with next year being his final chance. Raines the only first timer with more than the 5% needed to remain next year; he had 25%.

Bureau, now that DLS, Sweeney and Gio are gone, any chance you can show their scouting reports like you did for Cunningham? If you can thatd be something interesting to see. Thanks.

I'm somewhat surprised Willis signed to stay in the AL. He's declined in recent years and would probably fare better in the NL. Plus he loves to hit and obviously wont be able to do that playing in the American .League

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) Why is no one reading the top post? HE DOESN'T WANT A MULTIYEAR DEAL! Regardles... if we got one of Prior, Garcia, Colon... that'd be interesting. Whoops...i did read it but did so quickly and for whatever reason thought i read they wanted a longer deal now b/c they know he'll be fine and didnt want a one year deal where he could get injured. My bad.
-
I would have no problem with the Sox giving the guy a two year deal, but Prior will probably get a 3 year offer from someone and at a $$ amount the Sox will not and probably should not match

and another one mentioned in the report breaks and makes an admission...

QUOTE(soxfaninpa @ Dec 14, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) I've seen posted before that the Sox are high on him and could overdraft on him. Does anyone know where he might project to be taken if he wasn't an overdraft? From what i've heard about him and seen posted hear i seem to recall people saying a late first rounder

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) Vindication!!!! Is your original post about those two still floating around somewhere?

Ryan Wing signs with Oakland organization
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Calderon's topic in FutureSox Board
Good luck to him. He was once one of our prized prospects several years back til injuries de-railed his career. (Rauch, Malone, Barcelo, Honel, Wing...what could have been....) -
QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) I too am happy that Rowand signed elsewhere. Part of me wants the CF job to go to Anderson, or Sweeney, or Owens, but I feel that is wishful thinking/blind optimism that one of those three will be successful in '08. The same kind of wishful thinking can be applied to our 3-5 SP's as is. I know I'm in the minority, but I am looking forward to seeing what Jerry Owens can do. He hit when he was in the minors and he hit in his second go around here last year and if you applied a run rate to his SBs if he was here all year he would have led the league (at about 75-80%, which is fine). I think he at least has earned a legit chance to start.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) Wow 23 months!! That's almost 14 dog years!! /obligatory So much for him getting off easy because he's famous, damn. I hope he enjoys the clink and finds a nice boyfriend though. I will put the over/under on the angry "that's racist" columns on espn.com at 7, starting of course with Jemele Hill and Scoop Jackson. Not to be outdone Jason Whitlock will come out with at least 3 of his own -
Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
ChiSox_Sonix replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I just want Fukudome for the reason someone posted a short while back...so we can hold up signs when we play at the Twins that say Fuk-U-Dome -
I really want the new Voyager from Verizon but without a plan that will prolly be out of the price range of anyone getting me something so i'm prolly gonna ask for a GPS system or iPod instead. Or play the safe route and ask for gift certificates to the mall to buy clothes (exciting! hah)

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) After seeing what Jones signed for today with the Dodgers I think all doubt about whether Kenny would deal with Boras should be erased. If he wasn't willing to top 2 /$36 then we know he wasn't interested in the best CFer on the market because of his agent. Giving Andruw Jones 18 per is assanine (plus he wanted to stay NL so it prolly would have taken 19-20 with another year)...i'm glad he didnt sign him at that amount.

QUOTE(scenario @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 11:42 AM) Santo Luis... looks like a very large 23 year old Dominican player in A-ball who strikes out alot of people, but might have some control issues. Just pulling that from looking at his data on thebaseballcube. I don't know anything else about him. 99K to 34BB is good, he did have 14WP tho...and he was 24 in A ball. He does have a big frame though. (6'6" 240). I fail to see how this move could help us at all though...

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) So next year there could be 3 relievers pitching that we gave away for nothing. We lose three guys this year and get back 1.....this organization really confuses me. There is now way Gary Bakker or Ryan Rodriguez sniff the majors next year. And Liotta, well, odds are against him seeing as he has had some horrible years + injuries the past couple. So, outside Hernandez we didnt really lose anything. Anyone got any info on who we gained?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) Why didn't anyone mention that there is a Diablo 3 coming out? Wha???? Where did you see that? I've been wanting an announcement about a D3 for years now and despite numerous rumors there has yet to be any substantiated information about that game. If you have a link thatd be great. I really hope that is true.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 11:11 PM) Well, the question is...if you sub out Owens and put in DLS...if the Marlins are looking for star power, does even that cut it? If it doesnt then they may not trade him for a while...they are not gonna get 4 stud prospects from anyone. As others have said many other teams could beat that offer, but most teams with those star prospects are reluctant to trade them and i highly doubt theyd trade 3 at once...and for some teams 2 is pushing it they way some people value prospects now.

Sean Taylor~~ Rest In Peace

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 29, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) He doesn't view race as an excuse for why bad things happen to people. I get the impression that he doesn't like when people use race as a crutch either. To me that's being "real." He's got the Bill Cosby mentality which I totally agree with. Seriously? He's always using race in one way or another for his articles. -

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7499442...P>1=10637 Amen brother, amen. I love Whitlock. I have since before he was dropped from ESPN because he was a black man that was "real" and didn't play into the ridiculous stereotypes ala Steven A Smith and Stuart Scott. I read him regularly, if you don't you owe it to yourself to start. Jason Whitlock is a fool. I read him to get a good laugh. I've never seen someone play the race card as much as this guy. His sports knowledge also is questionable at times (i'm a big chiefs fan so i read his columns often). All that said, that was a very good article and can't say i disagree. However, unfortunately with him, IMO, good articles are hard to come by. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) So, reading around, it looks like it may not have been a burglary but rather just an attempt on his life. They left a knife/machete on his bed and cut the phone lines too; if they went to his house last week and he wasn't home, but came back again when he was home, it seems to point to something other than burglary, because you'd really think they would have taken what they wanted to when he wasn't home. RIP Sean...you were a hell of a player, and you went way too young. The machete was Taylor's. They said he kept one next to his bed for protection and grabbed it when he heard noises in the house.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Jackson got f***ed by Comiskey, the other players, his lawyer and Landis. Maybe more than anything, he was done in by his own lack of intelligence. He was a very dumb, very gullible man. Add to that illiterate. When he signed his confession, in all likelihood he had been lied to about what it said and didnt know what he was confessing to.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) Guilty of agreeing, not guilty of doing. I could argue otherwise. It really is probably impossible to prove either way. At this point (and even then), it was mostly speculation and testimony from people who were either a) looking to save their own ass B) from non-credible witnesses and c) people looking to gain from the situation. The whole truth of this event and the extent of the roles of those involved will probably never be truly known.
