  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) As they should be. 1. 6 years ago, Bush was in office. 2. I just realized, I think I am confusing 2 Bergers here - who did Clinton pardon or commute, and when? Can someone refresh my memory? 6 years and 7 months ago, whatever. And on his last day(s) in office he made over one hundred pardons including mark Rich and i think one of Hilary's brothers.
  2. This isnt any worse than what Clinton did 6 years ago...yet of course Dems like Schumer and the rest will be b****ing and moaning forever about it. Short-term memory is awesome
  3. Congrats Frank! I'm glad he reached this milestone as a couple years back it seemed in doubt due to that injury. Its a shame he missed all that time the past 6-7 years b/c of injuries, without those he'd probably be pushing 575 about now.
  4. If it is only a lack of a NTC that holds this up then this is the stupidest thing this management has done in a long ass time. Its kinda hard to believe that is the case for me though. I mean, despite what we all say, JR and KW are not idiots. They have to know that getting MB at 4/56 is a STEAL. I mean they just have to. I dunno, it seems a little ridiculous that theyd say no just b/c he wants a NTC. A NTC in a 4 year deal for a 28 year old isnt very risky in general, and then given MB's track record of clean health it poses even less of a risk. I just find it hard to fathom that they are willing to let him go for the sole fact that he demands a NTC. It's just hard to believe. But, if that is the case then KW and JR are being idiotic for allowing this. This whole situation, everything about it just pisses me off. I'm still holding out a little hope Buerhle remains a member of the White Sox, but this whole situation is truly ridiculous.
  5. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:01 AM) Just when things can't get any worse for the Sox. They get better. A couple hours later, and look where we are again...
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) I have this weird feeling that someone said "4 at 15" (as in each year) over the phone, and it was misheard as "4 at 50" (as in total). I'd still do that in a heartbeat
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Thanks for the clarification on this. I wasn't sure if they could or not. Well its not that they cant, its just that they wouldnt because it makes no sense for the team receiving the player. The only reason they do it in basketball is do the the weird cap rules/provisions/exceptions they have where it allows the previous team to sign a player to more than any other team is allowed to.
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) Glad someone said it. As do I. And i believe he was referring to the avatar thing...at least that's what I am.
  9. This really has almost no bearing on the Buerhle situation. I doubt the Cards gave up anything more than a 'B' prospect.
  10. Just heard the Tigers sent Maroth to St. Louis...not sure who they got back
  11. Wing with another 2.1 scoreless...ERA sits at 1.71 now. What a pleasant surprise he has been this year.
  12. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Clearly Martinez would be a name that would come up. A lot depends on where KW thinks this team can be in the next few years. Martinez may be too far away for KW's liking, especially considering that I think the average Sox fan would be horrified were the centerpiece of a Buehrle deal an 18 year-old kid at least 2-3 years away from helping this team in any way. I have a feeling that KW is sensitive enough to realize that many Sox fans are going to want to see the team reaping the rewards of the trade fairly quickly. I agree with what youre sayign but to be 18 and holding your own in AA is saying something. MArtinez' upside is so high. I just think he has a chance to be something special, and kids like him dont come along too often.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 06:34 AM) Who are these players that the Marlins and Rockies can offer? I am just wondering. Are we looking for more pitching? What? Outside of Gaby Sanchez (who has tons of potential but could easily flop, IMO) the Marlins positional prospects arent as great as they were a couple years back. Pitching is another thing as they still got quite a few good ones to look at. Also, based on the Marlins tending to usually come out on top in trades I'd be hesitant trading with them. And as for the Mets debate, I may be in the minority, but if theres one Mets positional prospect i want its Martinez, no doubt. I've seen him play a bit in Binghamton and he's got some tools for sure. His numbers dont wow you at all just looking at them but hes only 18 years old!
  14. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:56 AM) So, KW shouldn't have signed Iguchi or drafted Poreda since he had never seen either play. All he did was look at stats and get the opinions of his scouts. I guess that was nonsense, too. What organizations think Richar can start? The DBacks don't or they would have kept him. Anyway, there's no reason you should trust my opinion -- feel free to ignore it. Your logic here makes no sense at all. The D-Backs traded because they dont think he can start? Apparently the Rangers traded John Danks because they didnt think he could start either. Apparently the Red Sox traded Hanley Ramirez because they didnt think he could start either. The D-Backs have 2 of the better SS prospects in the game right now, pushing Richar from his natural position. They are strong in MI prospects, they can afford to trade their "number 3 SS". That has no bearing on if he is good or not. He just isnt as good as Justin Upton or Stephen Drew (which obviously means he must suck, to not be better than those two.) Teams dont trade only people they dont think can start. If you believe that, then that is nonsense. There is no reason not to give the kid at least a little bit of a chance before writing him off when prior to this trade you (along with 90% of this board, me too) had probably never even heard of him.
  15. We should do another one of these for 2010
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Steve Carlton and Tom Seaver Eddic Cicotte was a damn good pitcher too before his career was abruptly ended
  17. dont mean to hijack this, but whatever happened to Josh Fields the pitcher? I know he got hurt a couple years back but before that didnt people think he'd make a pretty good ML bullpen guy? Just wondering what the deal is with him now.
  18. How bout those contracts to Eddie Jones and Michael Finley
  19. Wing with another solid outing...does he stiull have any realistic shot at making it as a reliever? I remember a few years back he was one of our top prospects (pushing top 5 at one point i think). It'd be nice if he could still have some sort of a big league career
  20. QUOTE(Top Notch @ May 22, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) The Sonics won't even be in Seattle after next season. Portland has been an attendance cellar dweller ever since they became the Jailblazers and Atlanta is just an awful market at this point. I feel for the Griz and the Celtics. I'm no longer as convinced as i was just yesterday at this time. A player the caliber of Durant/Oden is capable of saving a franchise
  21. Sonics won #2 wooo! Welcome Kevin Durant. Oh if they could only re-sign Lewis to go with Durant and Allen next year. Ya, thatd be nice
  22. maybe im just being retarded but why does it have a 10 next to his #56?
  23. I didnt know where else to post this but if anyone can help me out thatd be wonderful. I have a bunch of videos in mp4 format from my video camera and i'd like to be able to convert them to .avi or .wmv files (preferably .wmv) without losing any sound. I have no idea how but if someone could give me a quick where to look or what program to use that isnt too complicated i'd really appreciate it. Thanks
  24. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Huntsville 6 @ Birmingham 4 Getz 3-4 (bringing him back up to .291) Collaro 1-4, 2B (.290) Nanita 3-4, 2-run HR (.313) Wing 3 IP, 3 R (first runs he's given up all year in 15.1 IP) And Wing's runs were on just one hit (albeit a 3-R HR), so you still have to look at it as still somewhat of a positive outing
