  1. I agree. It should have just cost money and they should have struck earlier in free agency. Not offering the QO was equally as top tier stupid as not properly replacing Rodon.
  2. Either way, they picked up a wildcard for the rotation in Velasquez when they could have gotten an established arm. I disagree that Kopech was the replacement for Rodon, he should have been an arm in addition to Rodon’s replacement. No I don’t think either of them should be in left field. Let’s not have any more ridiculous conversations about players playing out of position.
  3. I’m on the list of a few people who wanted to do the bolded. But I also realize it takes more than just Sheets to get Montas. Then there was another list of people who seemed to be okay with not replacing Rodon with an established major league arm (and not just Kopech) and the depth on this club. That list should be kept too.
  4. I do too, even before Vaughn hit a blast. Exactly. The other teams don’t have excuses playing in the cold weather, they put up hits and runs.
  5. How are you enjoying paternity leave, which is what you are on with how you are playing?
  6. Where are all the clowns that said, “look at the rankings” before the year started?
  7. Even replacing Rodon with an established pitcher outside of the organization wouldn’t have done shit with these injuries. But it does sadden me to see Rodon and Kimbrel do well…
  8. List the players to DFA. That will make me feel better. Also Keuchel needs to go to the pen when Cueto is ready. It’s worth seeing what Cueto has left.
  9. Does he get blame for the walks and their control issues?
  10. Pay for the Royals to have a late night at a titty bar and get bottle service. Then take your chances actually winning tomorrow. Side note: Someone tell TA to STFU when they start winning again. And…why is TLR not pulling Crick?
  11. Shit, the starting pitcher on Friday is TBA. If it is Velazquez it’s going to be a very short night at the park…the Angels aren’t a lightweight team. Katz sucks, there’s no reason to keep him other than to lure Giolito. Jason is getting annoying asking Stone questions about pitches.
  12. I will be there on Friday and when things go wrong, I want to hold up a sign that says “The money will be spent.” The casual fans won’t get it but the hardcore fans will.
  13. Note to other teams: Run on Grandal when the situation calls for a breaking ball. He can’t handle it. Literally also try getting a base hit, bunt the runner over and take two shots at getting the runner home from second. If your team scores a run, they will likely win the game as this iteration of a Sox team can’t hit, get a lead or hold a lead.

    Great stories!
  15. There are $42M reasons why.
  16. Injuries are an issue with Kelly, Lynn, Giolito, Moncada, Robert and Jimenez out. But this team had issues before then with not replacing Rodon properly. Using Velasquez is weak, even if Kopech was supposed to be Rodon’s replacement. The poor allocation of resources is a problem, as are the players who are underperforming. The manager is a problem, but he will stay until he is dead because of JR being in love with him and trying to correct a decades long mistake. What I am hoping for is that they get everyone but Jimenez back and start winning series more often. Then maybe we will see the potential we think the group has when Jimenez comes back. Otherwise I expect to see some turnover next year.

It’s too bad. I umpired 11U for both travel and in house games. I can understand the intensity of the travel games, but parents should know the games are about development at that level. Winning is fun, but nobody really gives a shit about all of those Downers Grove Longshots trophies and plaques in storage. Even if the goal is to get kids to play at the highest level and advance quickly, it doesn’t really matter what the outcomes are. Some parents just don’t get it.
  18. Hinch > TLR
  19. Real Sox fans understand we can win with what we have.
  20. Blame the umpire if you will, but the defense is what lost the game.
  21. He wouldn’t walk him would he?
  22. Viagra and vodka is the way TLR likes it.
  23. Battle this guy, walk one in and then have Burger feast on a fastball.
  24. Real Sox fans might have a fit about it too.
