  1. There was nothing flukish about what went on during the season against winning teams and how much they got their asses kicked against Houston in the playoffs.
  2. They are lucky they didn’t do SoxFest this year and that JR doesn’t do public appearances. I always loved when there was a fan challenging KW or RH at the Q&A sessions so we could hear the “hummana hummana hummana” responses or lawyer speak. Maybe Parkins or Spiegel will join a press conference and ask RH a direct question about their lack of a SP or RF and the over emphasis of RP. When the holes become a problem during the season, I’ll be glad to go to a game and hold a sign up that says “The money will be spent” when things are going poorly. It won’t matter, but what will matter is that this team’s ownership and executives don’t care to take this team to the next level with properly allocating resources, filling holes and making the moves necessary to win a championship.
  3. Not as funny as the White Sox attempt at filling holes, that effort is pitifully hilarious!
  4. Clearly some people do. No, but he was at least a starting pitcher before that. Then he needs to prove it as an actual starting pitcher.
  5. Okay so the Sox are “better” than the Astros. What if they drew another AL team in the first round like the Blue Jays or Yankees?
  6. Same. And I am already thinking towards April or May where it doesn’t matter what the pen does because of how the rotation is doing.
  7. No. The flier is Velasquez. Kopech is a wildcard, he may not even be effective as a starter. That’s a question mark and something an organization who cares about winning an actual championship would do something about. Like a trade with Oakland or signing an actual starting pitcher instead of taking a flier. They would also consider needing more depth in the future given Giolito’s possible departure. That’s the concern, the Sox can coast to the playoffs but get trounced by other teams like the Houston treatment they got last year. Okay, that’s fine - April 8 is coming.
  8. A championship run organization would not replace Rodon with a flier or trot out a platoon in right field. I don’t give a damn about “AL favorites” or rankings.
  9. And yet the Sox have holes but unlike a team serious about a championship, are unwilling to fill them. Instead they are being stubborn assclowns.
  10. Ok, I just see Lux and Bellinger and think that’s going to be out of reach for Kimbrel.
  11. Are they getting these players back because of salary relief or do they not have much of a farm system? I tend to think if Kimbrel does get traded he will be dealt for a return of less than what is expected here.
  12. Does anyone agree that Kimbrel starts the year in the bullpen, that Engel platoons in right field and that they will be down a legitimate starter in not having Rodon?
  13. Crochet could be as good as Chris Sale was before he got hurt, but Crochet screams TJ surgery to me. I have no problem trading him to fill another hole instead of stretching him out or keeping him in the pen. I would, Crochet isn’t going to break the bullpen for me if he gets dealt. Sheets is replaceable.
  14. There’s the right fielder! He’s ready to be in the lineup on opening day! You can’t spend $1 when you have $0.50!
  15. Better trade him now so they can sign Conforto!
  16. I can get in this mindset if the bolded becomes true. This. Counting on them to be the missing pieces is somewhat risky. When will they be ready to break camp with the active roster and be able to contribute meaningfully when the rest of the team ages and gets out out of contracts? It makes more sense to check off the needs now when it will just take cash and a pick for Conforto and a creative trade with Oakland rather than wait for the deadline and get in a bidding war then (even though they might be in one of those with Oakland’s pitchers now).
  17. Exactly, I don’t even bother using Twitter for baseball news since the people on this board are outstanding at keeping people up to date. I don’t post that much and enjoy when there is healthy debate, which doesn’t always happen. It’s also a great place for other news like on the NFL as well. And I have followed more writers and outlets because of the people posting. Yeah, I think we all know who likes to debate with who, who gets crapped on and that there are negative nancies…even if there is some validity to bitching about the team’s roster, executives and ownership. Why is it imperative that Vaughn be that outfielder or infielder? Isn’t he more valuable in a trade? Lol Jake Burger shouldn’t be a second baseman. He’s a blocked third baseman even if he’s in shape.
  18. I can’t understand what Hahn’s plan is with all of the relievers. Imagine if the starters they project to use get in trouble and the offense goes quiet, it doesn’t matter if they have a nasty bullpen. It made sense to go get another starter to replace Rodon and make this team on par with last year’s team. Then, get an actual right fielder who isn’t another Sheets/Vaughn/Engel type and make this team better than last year. Those moves would have made a lot more sense to me, in addition to offering Rodon the QO.
  19. No, RH and his half assed lawyer answers and JR’s bad money being spent is a tough read. This board is bearable if you read over the tweets and don’t follow the same people who b**** at each other. Scroll for the good shit and ignore the rest. Good, two guys that never should have been on the roster last year. Just like Goodwin and Mercedes. Well, we’re waiting…
  20. What else could he possibly want to accomplish at his age and with his career achievements?
  21. It looks like some team is going to have to end Brady’s career the good old fashioned Bears way. https://youtu.be/ysGk7iMJZ-w
  22. Trying to convince the owner to nut up and leave less money to his family when he croaks so he can sign Conforto and trade for a starting pitcher.
  23. Could it be that this dude is a depth and insurance piece until Hahn makes a trade for one of Oakland’s starters? Why is Oakland trading everyone away again?
