Burger will get his shot. Yoan didn't look right all spring. Maybe the oblique was part of the problem.

I think the shortest IL stint is 10 days so they must think he'll be back before that.

No it's not. He doesn't have any value. 

I would have slotted Moncada 8th in my lineup based off last year's numbers.  There may not be much offensive falloff to Burger.  Indeed, Burger posted a 118+ OPS in limited action last year.  Moncada was 117 OPS+.  

Burger had much higher slugging and higher OPS, much lower OBP.  Batting average the same.

You hate sample sizes. 

Sorry, but having Tanner Banks, Kyle Crick, Matt Foster, Dallas Keuchel, Jose Ruiz Bennett Sousa and Vince Velasquez all on the OD roster for a "World Series Contending" team gives me some pause.

VV & Keuchel are the only issue in that list for me. The rest is just the nature of bullpens. Red sox rode a rule 5 pick and a yankee castoff and made a hell of a bullpen last year. They could all explode, but ruiz/crick/sousa/banks could easily find some really strong MR roles there because pitching is wild.
