QUOTE(rangercal @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Damn, He's Good! I'm sure it's his signature that was set up on his emails as soon as he got the job. He probably forgets it's even there. That being said...that is damn funny!!! LOL!!!

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) the fact that that's even an issue really sucks cuz anyone on this board (with the exception of maybe SoxRock ) is a big enough fan to deserve tix - but thats not the way the system works unfortunately. Well, if I got extras I have a few people I would ask, and saddly enough, they aren't people on this board. That is if I had two extras. But those two people are the guys responsible for my being at game 2 of the ALCS. After I got them in, I then go to some of the fine folks here. But ya gotta make right with the people that did right by you to begin with. But I am expecting to be sitting here at 12:05PM tomorrow going "damn...".

QUOTE(SS Gload @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) If dye needs a rest, we could put scotty in right and put carl in left so he doesn't have to run much since its a short porch if we play houston. I think Dye is getting all the rest he will need this week. I can't imagine after game 2 any of our guys will be saying "whew...ya know...those two games man...I'm pooped...".

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) I love Mrs. Flaxx dearly and she's quite the beer lover. But I don't think that bottle would ever make it to the airport, if you know what I mean. You're going to give it to one of the bucket playing kids around the Cell, aren't you?

You kids need to lay off The Critic. I've met him and his wife. I understand why he will do this for her. He tricked one pretty lady into falling for him, and he knows lightning won't strike twise. So unless he wants to end up a bachelor for the rest of his life... FLaxx, if we both end up down there, I am coming equipped with a bottle of beer for you. Just remember to bring it home in your carry-on bag. Baggage departments aren't preesurized, and they tend to go KA-PLOOEY!!!

My Dad grew up with a brother who was a Cubs fan, so my Dad chose to be a Sox fan when he was a kid. When I was REAL young I was a Cubs fan, but at some point when I was a kid I started to turn to the Sox. I remember being in Minnesota arguing with my Great Grandfather over who was better, the Twins or the Sox. I had to be about 7 or so, as he was still living in his own house at the time. I remember watching the games on 44 also, on a B&W TV. My Dad has fallen on some hard times recently, and he can't even see the games on TV or hear them on the radio, as his TV isn't able to pick up a string enough signal down in Monticello Indiana. So he has been calling me the morning after all of the games to find out how the Sox did the night before. I'm still waiting to hear from him this morning. My Dad's an odd cat though. He has never been a bad Dad, but he was never an overly emotional/lovey/effectionate parent. But in recent years that has started to change. But for the past 10 years or so, the Sox have always been something we both would talk about. Not at length mind you, but here and there. I'm hoping to get tickets tomorrow, and I am hoping to be able to get an extra one for him to go with me to a game.

I actually went to bed at a decent time last night, midnight. But I have been staying up so damn late the past week, that sleep was not too hard to find. THe stress level also fell down finally, so I fell asleep with Bill Melton on TV talking to me, and a HUGE smile on my face. I woke up in the middle of the night to some soccer game, so I shut that wacky stuff off. Then I woke up this morning, my alarm clock set to the Score, and Mike North's voice actually put a smile on my face. Odd way to start the morning.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX PLAYOFF WINNER
Kid Gleason replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
...just WOW!!! I can't believe this! We are atleast going to get to see them back here again!!! Best case: We see them again at home for game one of the Series! Worst case (as of right now): We see them for game 6!!! -
QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) drunk at 1:00 pm yes i rule indeed and i will never be banned because, i rule b****ES LOL!!! Ban him for an hour, the middle hour of the game tonight.

But this guy and the Angels fans are right. I'm sure Scoscia would have run out there and had his guy go back to the dugout and sit down had they done the same thing. I'm also sure that if they did the same thing, the fans would be pissed at their guy for helping out the team like that.

They need new slogans: "With Dusty we turn rusty". "With Dusty we get dusty".

I just love all music. I kind of had a HUGE change in play style when I got my last guitar, and I haven't recovered, and don't plan to. It's making me become a much better and much more complete guitarist. Also, ask Tony Iommi what type of music he mainly listens to. Do I get my card back if I mention I never go anywhere without my Mississippi Fred McDowell CD's??? He might claim to not playing RnR, but nobody in this world (with the exception of maybe the Faces and The Stones) were more RnR than ol' Fred was.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) I just don't like that style of music. It's all pork-pie hats and canes and striped suits to me. Have The Methadones or Rise Against or Alkaline Trio record Go-Go White Sox and we'll talk. Well, considering I have The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Benny Goodman, The Boswell Sisters, and Glenn Miller for my listening pleasure as I type this, I guess it makes sense to me why the song doesn't bother me.

I've always loved Sirott, and that is a great piece. My love is the Sox, but in years past it was always so hard to get my wife to understand why I would be glued to the TV during the play-off's. "Why are you watching every game, the Sox aren't in it?". "But it's the game, the Sox are my favorite team in my favorite sport". Nice to see Sirott just loves the game. I don't begrudge any Cub fan that is pulling for the Sox (or Angels) if they are a fan of the game. I begrudge the people who are here now but don't give a toss about baseball for the rest of the year. Those Cub fans who are true baseball fans, who happen to be pulling for the Sox, they have their reasons and they are NOT bandwagon fans. They are baseball fans with a reason. Hats off to people like Sirott who understand the love of the game is the main thing.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) this is a blurb from an article on the white sox website: Featured stooges: The combination of Pierzynski, Rowand and Crede have earned the nicknames of Moe, Larry and Curly, i.e. The Three Stooges, from Walker in reference to their goofy camaraderie. The trio was featured on the front page of Thursday's Orange County Register, celebrating Crede's walk-off shot, and planned to get a color reprint and sign it for Walker. GOD i hate how AJ is a clubhouse cancer! That's funny! WAY Better than the "idiots" thing from over on the east.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 06:37 AM) I think to protect his knees, we need to move him to left field. The catchers are always my favorite on the team. AJ would be a good investment. It pays off both in offense, defense, and pitching. I'd also like to see Josh Paul return to Chicago on the Cubs Didn't you also say you wanted Graffinino with the Cubs also? WHERE IS YOUR LOVE FOR THE CITY OF CHICAGO??? AJ is easily my fave. He's been great all year long, and has been priceless in the past few months. I love his no BS attitude, and if this is what the other cities DIDN'T like about the man, well, they all just suck that much more. How anybody could dislike the guy is beyond me. After a win, he is by far the best one to see. YOu can just sense his excitement and intensity at that moment.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Even with its magic powers, I just don't like the song. Leave it to you.. I had hardly ever heard the song in my entire life, in all honesty. Now I hear it every single day. I'm not sure where, but I am always running across it. Pretty cool. I love, and I mean LOVE this teams sense and pride of history. That is one of the added things I love about this club. Not too many really throw themselves into their history like the Sox do.

If we had folded at the end of the regular season, the team would have been skinned alive. If they lose it here now, they come back home as a team that will have inspired thousands of kids to pick up and bat and ball, and desevedly so. At first I was saying that if we got to the post we would be in trouble, that was going off of August and September, as I wasn't sure we could re-bound. But now, yes I want to see a Series victory, but this team has proven to be a highlight of my life. I'm 35, and yet I feel like a kid when I see AJ, Gooch, Crede, Paulie, any of my team on TV being interviewed. When FOX interviewed AJ in Anaheim yesterday, I stopped everything I was doing just to hear him, and hushed everybody around me. No matter where these guys go after this season, they are all a part of something REALLY special right now and have gained a place in all of our hearts, and I don't think any of them will ever be boo'ed at the Cell when they return. ***that last line is the naive side of me, as I know anybody will get ripped a new one from time to time***

There's More at Stake than the ALCS Tonight

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) And that is: It is time once and for all to get over this West Coast house of horrors bulls***. What better time than now to end that skid? Here's our record against Anaheim (from the Sun-Times) at their park: 2005: 2-2 2004: 1-2 2003: 1-3 2002: 0-3 2001: 1-5 The only team worse for us is Oakland. Plus, Garland's record against Anaheim is crap this year, while Lackey's against us is excellent. The only team I hate more than Anaheim is Oakland--I'd cringe watching us lose games there and listening to their dumbass fans with their airhorns. Now I have to watch Anaheim and their idiot fans with their thunder sticks. If we can pull this off against Anaheim, our second worst nightmare, I'd say the World Series is gonna look easy, comparatively. But what an added bonus if we manage to take a few there--especially when it counts like it does now. God, would I love to sweep them. TIME TO END THE WEST COAST CURSE! IF we take 2 out west, we are as good as "in" with the World Series, IMO. But I have a feeling we will get one win. Now, there is the obvious side of me pulling for a sweep out there...but ya know...I think that is just a weird dream. Ideally though it would be to win two out there and then win game 6. The city of Chicago would go crazy! -

What the hell are "ring chips"? Do I need to stop at the store on my way home?
