  1. Well, maybe I am more offended as a fan of Chuck Berris.
  2. As I said, it adds a bit of an "O.K." to it with Shingo's approval, but it still is not all that right or correct. You can't even make a comparison about the music really. The player approves a song. If I was going to walk out there, I would O.K. a song I liked, and Shingo did approve of a song that goes before the gong. A gong strike is NOT a song, and it is something that was always used in movies or radio in the past to signify whenever the silly Asian came on screen. Back in the days of the "silly scared black man". The only difference is that we can still be given the gong in this day and age. I just find it wrong. I won't campaign against it, I just think it is wrong and I do find it sad how we in this country can be so damned aware of racism to one race, but ignore it to another one. Racism against the Asians still runs wild, and nobody ever says a dang thing about it. Do you really think that anybody would pay attention to a guy named O'Malley?
  3. The Samurai were great warriors and men of great respect and honor. There is much reason to live your life following them. It isn't really like saying "I play the game as cowboys lived". The Samurai was MUCH more than that. So I really don't see how using a gong is O.K since they approach the game in the same way as a Samurai might approach something. Samurai's would spend much, much, much time preparing for battle. There was much thought, and a spiritual side to it all. I am sure that is what they were speaking of.
  4. I find it rather sad. The racism handed out to the Asian community on a daily basis is extremely frustrating. Shingo giving it an "O.K." makes it a little more acceptable, but there should be a sign of respect to the Asian community to NOT do that type of thing. After all, just because one African American is fine with the N word, doesn't mean that they all will be, or that it is O.K. to use it. It is respect, and the gong can easily be seen as insensitive and politically incorrect. I really dislike things that are overly "politically correct", but the Asian community really does take a LOT of unfair abuse as far as stereotypes are concerned, and nobody ever seems to see how wrong it is.
  5. No "bad", only us geeks are expected to know that one!
  6. The "some gorilla" was probably King Kong from KING KONG VS. GODZILLA.
  7. I think it's funny that we treat Shingo as such a "foriegner", when in all reality he is no different than all of the other players out there that need a green card to play in the league. Magglio needs one, Sosa needs one, Jose probably does. But since Shingo is Japanese, he is an oddity. Sad really. The gong is also wrong. Just plain wrong.
  8. Can we stick Mariotti and Chip in the center of Wrigley also? That would just be the ultimate night in sports history!!! But since this is "music" we are talking about, I have to go with Rap. Though, that being called "music" is quite the stretch. But since some folk seem to think it is, I guess I will play along.
  9. Hey! Did you guys know that to be a good baseball team, you need to play good baseball? This according to Santo. Is he trying to take over Yogi's spot of strange things said??? Man, this is Hell. Now this battery is dying for sure. In someways, I am a little thankful. 1/2 until I leave and can listen on the good station. I love the fact that it is sounding like we are playing the better ball. Or our pitcher sounds to be doing better so far. Yup, battery officially dead. I think.
  10. If you look at my posts on the other page, I mention how my radio isn't picking up AM1000. Trust me, I don't want to listen to these idiots, but I also don't want to miss a single pitch of this game. I have to miss tomorrow and Sunday due to going out of town. I am NOT missing this one!
  11. Was it a check??? Santo is having a heart attack!!! LOL!!!
  12. No offense to anybody, but is Pat Hughes gay??? In the first inning he commented on Sammy's "bulging muscles coming out from his shirt" and now he reffered to Prior as "The elegant pitcher"??? What is up with this sort of stuff???
  13. Sometimes, I LOVE Sammy and his suckiness!!!
  14. Oh great. This is almost worse. It isn't my battery, it's the friggin' station. WGN is coming in just fine... :puke

    Michael Moore

I never understood the whole "he is evil for ties to the Bin Laden" family angle. On a lesser side, should we ship Jeffery Dahmers parents away from the world, just because they are his parents? Ties to an evil person does not make you an evil person. Most of his family says they haven't heard from Osama for years. There is a possibility that there are good people in that family. In my opinion, it was not such a bad idea to get his family out of the country. It would be that or get them into hiding, either way, they were taking to the air, and it was for their own protection, and if they had nothing to do with the acts, then why should we leave them at the mercy of the loons just out for revenge? I am all for free speech, but I don't think Moore really understands what his actions can do against the country. Other countries, and the people that don't like the US, are eating his s*** up, and loving every second of watching us turn on our President. It's not a good sight we are showing the world. No folks, we are not showing them the beauty of free speech. We are showing them a Nation turning against their leader. Remember, their media outlets will edit to make it look like they are doing a great job, and how the country is rising up against Bush. Moore might not be the main vision that will be exploited over there, but he will be one of them. He is treading on VERY poor ground, and making many bad choices. Right now he will be seen as a hero by some, but his name will be Mud in the future. I just see it all exploding in his face. I also don't think he is doing stuff with any "evil" intent, or with any "I'll make millions off of this". I do believe that he truely believes in what he is doing, but he has lost his true way. People are standing behind him telling him to keep going, and he is just getting all caught up in the situation, that he is forgetting what good he could actually be doing. Well, that is it for now. That was much longer than I wanted it to be. I just find it a shame that people have turned on both parties so much. My Dad actually knows Bush, and hung out at his house. Heck, my Dad even went with one of Bush's buddies to get his daughters from school one day when he was tied up. This was a few years ago, before he was Pres. According to my Dad, Bush is a great guy. So I don't know, I trust my Dad and his judgement of people, so who knows. I just think that in the greater view of things, neither of these guys are "evil".
  19. Isn't Frank really a case of he hurt himself in a way? He set the bar so damn high for himself, that when he wasn't performing at his peak performance, people were saying he was washed up. But it was never like he sucked, he was always a good - very good player, he just wasn't as insanely great as he was early on. He never fell into a Griffey like sllump, right?
  20. I honestly believe that Jessica Simpson is attempting to be a Gracie Allen for the new millenium. I think she plays dumb, because she knows it will get her attention, and it could work to her benefit. Gracie Allen was one of the biggest airheads ever, and it was all a brilliantly played act that made her and George famous beyond all they could imagine. She was smart enough to know she had to be dumb. I seriously would not be surprised to find a bunch of episodes of the "Burns And Allen Show" in Jessica's place. I don't like Jessica, and it pains me to even speak her name in the same breath as the amazing Gracie, but it is just what I am picking up on. And no, Gracie never, ever, stepped out of character, so I don't expect Jessica to either.
  21. Now "Renegade" and "Blue Collar Man" are both still killer tunes! I will give them that. The main problem is that they just have not dated well, thanks mainly to the extreme cheese that is Dennis De Young.
  22. Especially since, in a way I guess, while he is warming up, he is "playing with himself".
  23. You do know what that songs is really about, don't you?
  24. I'ver heard that he is actually busting his butt learning English. So I am sure by now he knows the very basics of baseball talk. Things like "fastball" "away" and such, I am sure he knows those by now. He has been here for some time now.
