  1. From what I had heard, that is EXACTLY what was in the audience yesterday. Supposedly a 10 month search was conducted to find the right people in need of cars.
  2. Can somebody help out an idiot here? Are the Chechen's after the rebirth of Communist Russia? I get it that is what you think that Putin is after, but is that what those wacky Chech folk are all about?
  3. It's like that Extreme Makeover: The Home Edition, sure it is publicity stunts and such for the companies and starts and such, but when it is also going to great causes, then all is cool. I don't like Oprah, but I wish more famous and rich people would do the type of stuff she does. She actually cares about people, and she does try to make a difference. As I said, I am not fond of her, but I hope to hell she keeps making more money and never retires!
  4. Maybe they'll also point out that both recent player on fan fights was the result of ex. Sox, such as the Dodgers game at Wrigley. Hey, fun game for the anti-Sox people out there is maybe a 6 Degrees of Seperation for Sox violence type of thing! Cause you know, in one way shape or form, you can almost always relate a player to an organization.
  5. I just found out that one of the guys I work with is the brother-in-law of the first guy fired! LOL!!! It all makes sense, really.
  6. I actually watched MTV last night for the first time in YEARS, and it was to see the making of show for the new Green Day video, "American Idiot", and I have to say that is a VERY cool song! I don't normally like Green Day, but I did like something about that song. The video is O.K., with some cool stuff, but mostly more of that damn annoying "Rap" style quick filming stuff going on. Damn I hate that s***.
  7. Not sure how much of a youngster I am, being 34, but hey, cool. It depends on how "hard" your definition runs. I'll be back with some ideas. But if you aren't familiar with Hanoi Rocks, check them out. I first fell in love with them back in '83 or'84, and they just reformed (kind of, missing some of the originals), but the new one, which is readily available at most stores, is called 12 Shots On The Rocks and if you aren't a fan from way back when, you will probably love it. Anything by Dave Kusworth comes HIGHLY recommended, if you enjoy the old Faces style, but a bit more mellow. http://www.davekusworth.com The Riverboat Gamblers walk a fine line between Punk and RnR, but the RnR wins out. Expect HIGH energy and GREAT gangland style vocals (ie. the Rockabilly background yells). The album Something To Crow About is easily one of the greatest albums in the past 10 years. http://www.theriverboatgamblers.com/ The Quireboys have been around for a bit, but they do true RnR better than almost anybody. VERY Faces like, especially with Spikes voice sounding like what Rod would sound like if he drank and smoked too much. http://www.quireboys.com/ There is always Raging Slab for the BIG BEEFY sound of the old style RnR: http://www.ragingslab.com/ The Wildhearts, a bit more Metal, but still catchy. Dip into the early stuff mainly, such as Earth Vs. The Wildhearts. Also give main guy Gingers other band, Silver Ginger 5 a spin. http://silverginger.com/ I'll think of more later, if you are seriously interested. I don't listen to anything BUT this type of stuff, for the most part (I have breaks here and there, but the majority of my collection is straight up RnR), so I can keep ya going for quite some time. Of course, there is always THE Man: http://www.briansetzer.com/
  8. Rock and Roll is FAR from dead, and great CD's are released all the time. It just isn't in the Top 10 anymore. The Quireboys have a new one out that word has it smokes, The Saviors should eventually be getting one out. There is a guy in Boston named Chaz Matthews who has dome some amazing stuff, and his bands final album "Ghost Of Satuday Nights" is one of the greatest RnR releases ever, IMO. The Riverboat Gamblers play an amazing style of HIGH energy RnR, The Beat Angels still exist. The Wildhearts do a fine style of RnR. As long as Kevin K. and Dave Kusworth are alive, there are two more that will always keep RnR alive. RnR is NOT dead, it just looks like that if you don't want to look for it. f*** MTV and mainstream s***, RnR thrives and rules, and is better than ever now days. Sorry man, I bleed the stuff, and it drives me a little wacky when people say it is dead, as it will never die. If I had more time, I would list like a madman as to what is out now. Oh, and Hanoi Rocks should be getting a new one out by the end of this year or early next year.

    Creepy

If I lose power in my house, once it kicks back on, it always turns the stereo on. I have no idea why, but maybe this is what happened. Even if we lose it for a second and the clocks don't shut-off, the stereo will still start up.
  10. WOW!!! I can't imagine the people backing this type of movement by the rebels! I mean, sheesh, this is taking it WAY too far! How can you possibly get sympathy for your "cause" when you make your main target kids??? f***ing assholes. I say once they get the kids out, just for a move like this, the Russians should take out ANYBODY even thought to be associated with these assclowns. This is a whole new territory of ass. :fyou
  11. Yes, I finally fell victim to the Yahoo Group thing. But this one actually gives you something for nothing! Drop on by, check it out, and join if you want to! It's a nice little escapre from the pain of watching our team skid out the rest of the year. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OTRland/
  12. I was at the Junkyard show at The Metro, people were pushing me like mad, I kept pushing back. I couldn't figure out why people were trying to be all around me. Finally my buddy tugged on my shirt and said "look to your left" and I looked right next to me, and there was Axl standing there. "Hey Axl", I said "Hey, whats up?" He said back to me. "Not much, hey, that's a cool shirt you got on there man", I said to him, he looked down at himself, looked at me and smiled. "I like yours too man", he said back to me. By this point the crowd had started getting out of control, and his security was getting tired of trying to keep people off him. So, he smiled at me, told me to take it easy, and took off with his guys to the balcony level. He waved down to people as they would yell for him now and then, but he eventually disappeared. He loved Junkyard, and I am sure he hid out so that people would pay attention to the band and not him. This was as GnR was still just becoming the powerhouse they were eventually to become. He just didn't seem to get it that he shouldn't have been in that crowd. But for some reason his security guys didn't force me away. It may have had something to do with I wasn't all over the man. Plus we were both dressed almost indentical, and maybe they were a little confused on who was who, except I am a bit taller than he is. Crazy little experience that was though. Junkyard was also amazing that day, and I hung out and talked to Brian Baker for the third time.
  13. They have computers in caves???
  14. I was 3, but I was born then.
  15. Oh, I also have a baseball sitting on my computer here at work, signed by Pat Maris and all of the Maris kids. My wife has a REAL close family, and one of her cousins got married to this guy. I sent him tons of music, and he decided to do something nice back for me, so he had his Aunt and cousins sign the ball for me. Yes, he grew up playing ball with his uncle Roger and all that kind of cool stuff. His family are the ones who maintain Rogers gravesite. I went and saw it while I was at my wifes Grandmothers funeral. She was buried just a few rows over from Rogers. It's a cool ball, and a whole bunch of cool stories. They also seem like REALLY nice people.
  16. I've met a ton of musicians, but these are the ones I think are kind of cool for one reason or another, the names might not mean a whole heck of a lot to most here, but "greatness" is all relative, and these folks are great to me, except for Axl: Axl Rose Brian Baker from Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Government Issue, Bad Religion, Junkyard...and the list goes on and on... All of The Dogs D'Amour and I hung out for hours one night, mainly Steven James, Tyla, and Jo Dog. Hung out with Mother Love Bone that same night, mainly Bruce Fairweather, who I was supposed to get together with to play, but things just didn't work out. I know Rocky Shades from 80's UK Glam Gods Wrathchild. I met all of The Lords Of The New Church, including having Stiv Bators call me a "f*g". Wattie the vocalist for Punk legends The Exploited Bill Steer from Carcass Steve Youth from 7 Seconds bummed a cigarette off of me. rolleyeyes.gif I met Danielle Dax...hummina, hummina, hummina... A girlfriend of mine was banging Nivek Ogre of Skinny Puppy. Luckily this knowledge came to me just in the knick of time... Ginger of The Wildhearts knows of me...heh...a good reason I didn't go see them recently. I know THEE Trash Brats, Ricky Rat actually, but have not spoken to for a bit of time now. Got my butt kicked almost by Beefcake and Oderus of GWAR, for supposedly tripping Beefcake at a convention. About an hour later Gwar Woman was trying to avoid slobbering fans who were chasing her around, so she pulled up to me and more or less acted like I was with her, and all the guys left. I talked to her for a few minutes, really cool lady! I met Jackie Chan at a book signing, if you want to call that "meeting", which I don't. Shook his hand and ran as the line was pushed through. I met Dan Simmons at another book signing. That one I will say was actually a "meeting" as it was a smallish turnout, and he even did a little artwork for my signing, and I got back in line and dropped a bunch of more books on him. Met George Romero at the debut for his film Bruiser. So there is a bunch of "nobodies" for all of you to look at and say "so what???" about! Oh...and as a kid, some guy from the Bears moved into a house down the street from me. He used to play football with all my friends and I. He was out due to a knee injury the following season and never played again. I have no idea who it was now though. I should try and find out who he was, as he was a REALLY cool guy.
  17. Not only that, but I do believe he also has been wildly inconsistent this year for us. PLUS the fact that he was due to be a free agent at the end of the year and we would have gotten squat for him. He was only at the All Star game obviously for Torre to shmooze, or so it seems. We have better players, but for some odd reason they chose to take him for the All Star game.
  18. August 12th, eh? That's the day before my 10 year wedding anniversary! I'll take that for a little gift from the Sox! I'm sure they are thinking about me right now, after all.
  19. Everybody can just sit back and relax!!! Everything is going to be fine! France is on their way in there to get things taken care of and put back on track!

    Music downloads

Not that I know anything of them, But yes, Soulseek is a God amongst these types of programs. From what I have been told. In all honesty though, most of what I have is WAY out of print stuff, or stuff I do have in vinyl and cassette. Anything readily available, I am still a sucker for the real thing. Though the more I buy, the more I think the record industry deserves everything it is getting. Lack of packaging and over-abundance of filler material on CD's is getting ridiculous. The Indie scene still cares about packaging, but the majors seem fine to give you a cover, and nothing else, and still charge $15.00. :puke rolleyeyes.gif
  21. So...as of this point should KW go up to Maggs and Frank and asked "so what will it take to keep you around"??? I think he should. By their not being here, they have proven just how important they are to this team.
