  1. Thanks Steff. If my wife wasn't out of town, I would have just asked her. We do have two kids, and she is a nurse in the OB/Labor and Delivery of a hospital, so I would think she might know. But I just chose to play the role of "dimwit" instead. rolleyeyes.gif
  2. Guess I need to see the whole story. Why is buying a mattress bad??? Also, why is a pregnant woman going jogging? I do believe that type fo workout really isn't a good thing to do while pregnant. I know walking is O.K., btu jogging seems a little too much of a strain. Maybe I am wacky...

Actually, look for The Wildhearts "Riff After Riff". It is domestic, and you can get an idea of what they used to be like from that. If you like that one, you will LOVE the old stuff. But beware, they are NOTHING like Dave Matthews!!! LOUD guitars, and song arrangements that make your head swirl as you try to figure out how the hell he got from one riff to another, and as smoothly as they do. Ginger is an unreal songwriter, and one of the most respected working today, but you will not find much about him in the US. As for Matthews, I lost interest after "Under The Table". He got too safe, and the drummer forgot how good he really is.

Yeah, slight Wildhearts fan. Infact, so much so that I got my copy of "Riff", the original version, from Ginger himself. Along with my SilverGinger 5 shirt coming from Ginger. I write for a Horror website that is one of Ginger's favorite sites, and he and the site owner have become buddies. Alan, the owner, isn't a Ginger fan musically, so everything Ginger sends to him is addressed to Alan or the "fanboy", being me. I would have gone to the shows also to introduce myself to Ginger, but other past encounters with him may have resulted in a punch to my face. So I passed on those accounts also. I'll stop bragging now. Have you ever heard their first demos with Snake from Tobruk? Great stuff. I personally like Endless for what it is. I fully agree with the noise getting in the way of some brilliant songs, but I still find the coolness in there. Maybe I was just desperate for more Wildhearts at the time. Oh, and I think it was the kid that softened him up more than the lady. He talks about the kid all the time on his site, and never the lady. Understandable that his kid could change him though. I will have to check on the 8/21 game, as my daughters birthday is a few days after that, I am betting we will be doing the party on that day, and since the Sept. game is during the week, that is a tough one for me to get to. But maybe I will convince my wife to go to the 8/21 game as a birthday present for my daughter. I haven't made it to any games yet this year, thanks to being out of town on almost every friggin' weekend and coaching my kids softball team this year. Shame on me. But you commented on the music thread that you liked many of the bands I mentioned. I will PM you a link you might like. It's my home on the 'net.
  5. I can't wait for the release, just so that these crap-tastic movies can get the hell out of theaters and I won't have to hear about them anymore. I loved the original three, collected all the toys as a kid. Then he did that Special Edition stuff, and I only saw the first one. Ugh, crap. Then I saw EP 1, and I was astounded by how bad it was. Then I saw EP 2, and got suckered in at first, and loved it. Then I bought the DVD, watched it again, and couldn't believe how much worse than EP 1 it actually was! I will probably see this thing just for some sort of f***ed up closure. But what TERRIBLE movies these are!

I would agree with that statement, up until that last piece of crap The Wildhearts Must Be Destroyed. I don't like that one at all! IMO, Ginger should have left the band for dead, and just stuck to SilverGinger 5. TWMBD is full of too many pussy songs that are the complete opposite of what the band was once upon a time about. I asked a buddy who went and saw them (I am not a Darkness fan and was too upset that they drop the Dragons tour for The Darkness, I know the money and all, but the ticket prices also shot way up) just when they did that new songs "Because Of Love" or whatever it is called, I asked if it was before or after "Love s***" and just where they placed "My Baby Is A Headf***" in the context of the safe new stuff. Sorry, if the new album had had more of the stuff that made up the US edition of Riff After Riff (how rare it is also that a US version of an album would be superior to the Import, as Riff After Riff After Mother f***ing Riff was just mediocre), I would have been happier with it. But as is, even musically, it comes across as forced and like Ginger was TRYING to write a Wildhearts album, not that one just happend. But hey, any Wildhearts release is STILL better than 99% of the stuff I get to listen to on the radio now days!!! Godbless the other Wildhearts fans out there! Are you in the area? Due to what I have found out as of late, I think we should hit the games together and spend the between innings talking tunes!!!
  7. Actual paper. I asked around to a bunch of people as to what they would prefer, and almost everybody said actual hardcopy style. Something they can take with them. Cool ya like the name. If I ever get a band back together, it will probably also use that name. I'm so original.
  8. Well, anybody who knows of the bands on my list deserves a in return! ***shameless plug*** If you like the stuff keep an eye out here on this board for when I launch my "fanzine" thingy hopefully by the end of the year. The debut issue will be a Wrathchild feature covering their history, and what they are all doing now days. Each issue will pretty much concentrate on just one band at a time, with the only real area being dedicated to other bands being the album review area. Gotta push the new stuff someplace. The name of the 'zine is Sonic Ruin, and as I said I hope to have it ready by winter. ***shameless plug over***
  9. Good lord man, you just can't let people like what they like without bashing it, can ya? I rarely get into things with people, but this is ridiculous. You know, many bands out there do NOT make music for the sake of "pushing boundaries". But rather, they join and form bands to reflect the music that they love and have enjoyed listening to. Commercial pop bands will probably gladly tell you that they grew up listening to stuff along the lines of The Outfield, Boston, Journey, etc. So that is the style they play. Are they selling out? No. Are they playing bad music? To you, yes, to them, no. Nu Metal, whilst bad to you, is a hybrid of numerous styles (Rap and NY Hardcore being major parts and elements), and many of the kids doing the stuff now grew up on either of those styles, or on other Nu Metal bands such as Korn. People do play the stuff they love, not everybody is out to be "daring" and "adventurous" in their musical tastes and performances. Nobody is killing music by making Pop or Nu Metal. The Underground will always survive, I should know, I have lived there for the past 25 years now. Bagging on bands and people for what works for their ears is just wrong and pointless. Be glad people listen to music for crying out loud, no matter what the music is. My wife loves Hip Hop and Rap. I detest the stuff more than anything. But hey, she is enjoying music, and that is cool with me. My daughter loves stuff like Avril Lavigne, Britney, Christina, and all that stuff, and that's cool. It's music.
  10. Hanoi Rocks, T-Rex, Robin Black And The IRS, Soho Roses, The Babysitters, The Last Of The Teenage Idols, Wrathchild, Dogs D'Amour, The Quireboys, Faces, Small Faces, Humble Pie, The Damned, Marillion, GBH, Verbal Assault, Hardcore Superstars, The Riverboat Gamblers, THEE Trash Brats, anything Brian Setzer does, Queen, Hollywood Teasze, The Waterboys, The Orphan Punks, Star Star, Cheap Trick, Rene Berg, Smack, Suzi Quatro, The Replacements, The Chamber Strings, anything Dave Kusworth does, The Flower Lepards, Tazzberry Blue, New York Dolls, Heart Throb Mob, and that is what is in my CD case right now. Obviously there are many, many, many more, but my mind isn't triggering right now...
  11. Can't argue that one too much, as it also comes from one of the greatest albums ever, This Is The Sea, from one of the greatest bands ever, The Waterboys, written by one of the greatest songwriters ever, Mike Scott. I kind of fell out of them once they broke up, and the new versions of The Waterboys just aren't as special as the ones that did the work in the 80's. But for three albums, This Is The Sea, Fisherman's Blues, Room To Roam there were few better bands working then, and even fewer with that much talent going in them! I am in awe of seeing a nod to them on this board right now, BTW.
  12. But so much of it comes from such a personal vendetta that he has made so public, that it really takes away much of it's meaning and truth, IMO atleast.
  13. I think Ozzie stands a chance in the future (near future actually) to be looked at as one of the best out there. This is only his first year, and aside from stupid moves and, and being a little rough around the edges, I think he is showing himself to be VERY good at the job. I am happier with him in this role than I was expecting to be. I also think that if we keep him in there, with the right player moves, I do honestly believe we will see a Series showing in the near future. As for "Ozzie-ball", isn't the main idea behind that to never be out of the game? People seem to think it is about little ball, but from what I know, the people who coined that phrase seem to be saying that it is all about doing whatever it takes to win. That was this team in the beginning of the season, for sure, but I think we are into the mid-summer slow down now. I expect a second wind to catch them soon enough.
  14. Get those "Dumbass" signs ready for me!!! Am I the only guy who believed Olivo to being one of the most over-hyped guys to ever put on a uniform? You would swear we were seeing the second coming og Christ with how people talked about the guy! Yes, he had a quick release, but I'll be damn if I ever saw him actually throw online and get outs! I also never saw much of a hitter out of him. Yes, he was better than two of the knuckleheads we have now, but I do believe it won't be that hard to replace him behind the plate. Alomar is in his downslide right now, but I think his knowledge will help future catchers and pitchers. We need a new catcher for sure, but the loss of Olivo is not the worst thing to happen, and we needed that starting pitching MUCH worse than we needed a mediocre catcher who everybody thought was Johnny Bench.
  15. Yeah, Damaso fell apart tonight, it's bound to happen. The shame of it is that I knew we were sunk after that third ball in a row to the first batter he faced. The frustration in his body language told you he didn't have it. I have a feeling Ozzie just hoped he would pull it together, but we all know what happened now. But you knew we were done with that first batter. As for Ben Davis: Good Lord man! How does that guy have a major league contract??? Has he ever been anything? Seriously, is he just struggling this year, or has he always been this bad? Not horrible behind the plate, but standing next to it he is terrible. I can't hit worth a damn anymore, but I am pretty sure I would never have swung at two of those pitches!
  16. Ahhh, it's threads like this that make me happy to be human.
  17. Barrett seems like a decent guy from that article, and horrifiingly enough, so does Alou, who I always hated. Probably been wrong on Alou for all these years though, and he is probably a good guy. But Zambrano is an ass. I would also like to say that I would not want him on the Sox, no matter how good he is. I would never watch a game with him pitching. I just hate the way the guy goes about his business.
  18. The thing that bothers me is how much this team is always "owned" by somebody. If you are a true champiship team, is there really any team out there that "owns" you? If we can't perform against Oakland, or West Coast teams, then IMO we really aren't ready for a WS title. I just don't see them pulling it off. I don't think it is one part of this team that is truely going to stink it up, I kind of get the feeling that one part or another will fall apart, especially depending on the team we face. But with the offense, do you ever feel comfortable when we have two outs and runners in scoring position? I usually can guess the outcome, and it usually involves a ball being caught by an outfielder. Whereas if we scored in the previous inning, I pretty much know that if the other team gets anybody into scoring position, they will get the guy in. This team makes it work, yes, but it is also not performing like a Series title team. It has holes all over it, and the guys that shouldn't be holes, eventually seem to become such at a time when we should take off with the division. These games against Oakland should have sent us over the top, thanks to KC beating the Twins. But as is usual with this team, it doesn't strike when it should. So, shouldn't there be an "all of the above...with the exception of Shingo" choice?
  19. I liked 6th Sense, thought Unbreakable was decent, loved Signs (with the exception of parts of the ending, but I am a sucker for these types of films, and it reminded me of an old UFO comic book I have that scared me as a kid), and The Village looks pretty cool to me. But I am sick of the man himself, and I am sick of his "ooo, here is a surprise ending for you" that rarely makes any sense and always feels like a trick. The ending of 6th doesn't work when you really observe the film. And from what I have heard, The Village is a great little creepfest, but the ending is such a terrible ending that people that love the film to begin with, end up hating it with a passion due to what a cheap rip-off the ending is. But I will be there to see it for myself.
  20. I'll probably check I, Robot out this weekend. I love Alex Proyas and am thrilled as all git out that the film did that well. Granted it doesn't look as great as his past two films were (Dark City, The Crow), but I still love his visions, and expect his best still yet to come.
  21. I didn't see it, but I can tell you that it is a 100% scripted special just to promote the new movie. There is no "shocking" truths in it, and he never really tried to stop the docu from airing. It is nothing more than a fancy commercial for the new film.
  22. How about the most misspelled word on the internet??? I swear, up until human beings were given this gift of the internet, it never crossed my mind that people could be dumb enough to constantly goof up "no one" and turn it into one friggin' word!!! I swear, I believe it is a conspiracy by Peter Noone!!!

    Land of the Dead

Heck, Dawn is my fave film, and the one that was largely responsible for my addiction to Horror films. Oddly though it was the brilliant character development that made me love it so much, not the over-the-top gore. But I have to admit that I loved the remake, but for all the opposite reasons that I loved the original. I love the pure lack of character in the remake, and the fact that it was more of an Italian style Zombie flick than anything else, and the fact that it has the tip of the hat to Cannibal Holocaust in the end. I also loved that this time out I didn't care if any of the characters got munched. I looked at the remake not so much as a remake, but just as another story of another group of people from the same time that the other film was happening. Odd way of thinking maybe, but it helped me enjoy a movie that should have pissed me off. If you hated the remake, but loved the originals, you should atleast love the remake for the simple fact that it was that film that helped Romero get the final chapter greenlit. He's been trying to get this thing off the ground for years now. Plus hopefully somebody will give him the budget and time he wanted for Day Of The Dead, but was denied, thereby having to make a version that was half of the original idea. And for those fans of the original Dawn Of The Dead: THE ULTIMATE DAWN ON DVD!!!
  24. What would the rotation become then? We have 5, so who would step out? Would Shoenweiss be a part of the trade?
  25. No. Rooting for the bulls is the decent thing to do. They will all probably die in the bull fights aftewards, so this is their only true chance at killing the cowards.
