QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) I rented Black Snake Moan recently and I really disliked it. It as slow and rather boring. I've heard the only thing good about the film is Ricci on the poster.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) Current song stuck in my head, and I don't mind Plain White T's Hey There Delilah Just thought y'all would like to know My sister-in-law asked me what I knew of that band the other day. I said "nothing". She then played me the song. I then told her "I know they suck."

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 09:04 AM) It sounds pretty cool. I did a little reading on it and I loved the story about the creator of aikido being attacked by an armed assailant (had a sword) and he defeated the armed attacker simply by dodging every blow until the armed guy got too tired to continue. The philosophy of it is something that I really like. I also heard back from the dojo. I can try out a class before going into the introductory adult program and gave me a lot of information about appropriate attire for the intro program, etc. Seems like it could be a pretty intriguing thing to work with. Ask if the school is attached to Jeff Clayton at all. If it is, then you have a great place there. Jeff is one of the highest up on the Aikido chain in these parts. He's a nice guy. He was also my art teacher when I was in junior high. Good artist, both Martial and with a brush.

Aikido is a nice style. Don't expect "cool Martial Arts" stuff. You will earn very little in the ways of kicks and punches, if any at all. Its mostly grappling and throws. Basically you learn how to make the other person beat themself up.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) NSFW unedited SuperBad trailer... Huh...that looks pretty dang funny!

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) had the same problem...easily fixed, however: buy a fender Never. Something about Fender I just hate. It kills me that they bought Gretsch.

I still need to see Hot Fuzz. I almost bought it the other day as I know I'm going to love it.

Our evening was at Medusas. It was a PETA charity show. Yeah, even at a charity event Al was a twit.

Grand Slam might be the coolest game show ever created.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Nope, they're still alive and kickin', and actually kickin' pretty hard on this new one. But they've always "kicked pretty hard". I have no time for them though. I saw them back in '86 and Jourghensen (sic) was such a raging dickhead I chose to never give them a second chance. Best part of it was the idiot, after pissing off the audience for 3+ hours, decided to do a stage dive. Right into the middle of a pack of skinheads. Like I said, this was 1986...in Chicago. It took the better part of 5 minutes to get his worthless butt out of the audience. When they finally did he was slightly bloodied.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) So, Kalapse and I are the only two who didn't think the Simpsons movie was hilarious? I thought it was "meh" at best. I have pretty much 0 interest in it, if that makes you feel any better.

I finally saw Talladega Nights last night. As of right now I am pretty sure we have to make a new comedy category for the films that Ferrell and his gang are going to be making. Anchorman and that thing are quite unlike any other comedy, and I'm not sure how much I like them. They seem to exist in their own strange universe where everything is backwards.

One thing I have found is that TKD and Karate schools are affordable. More unique styled schools, such as those teaching a traditional Kung Fu (which is what I have always REALLY wanted to learn), you need to take out a second mortgage. One school I looked into that taught traditional Southern Preying Mantis was only $300 a month.

I wouldn't say she is a dog, but she isn't "stunning". Looks like a cross between Jewel and Lita Ford actually.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) I actually was quite the Marshall artist at one time. Then my amp blew and I bought a Fender instead. My Marshall is on the fritz. I still love her though, and really need to get it fixed. It keeps blowing its fuse.

I'm "retired", but have spent much time with: Hapkido (this was my main style) Tai Chi Tea Kwon Do And spent time learning PFS (Progressive Fight Systems) which was basically teaching the Jeet Kun Do theory. It was great stuff and I worked with it for over a year, but the guy teaching was a little "psycho" and you had to be REALLY dedicated to move up in that stuff. These guys did their knife sparring with real knives. The most bada** group of guys I have ever met, and by far the best fighters I have ever seen. I finally gave up on the Arts when everybody I was working with started going to ground fighting. I agree the stuff is the best for street fighting purposes, but I finally realized I had no interest in rolling on the ground with some smelly, sweaty guy. Ugh. Oh, and I agree with the comment of TKD. It's not REAL Martial Arts. Sorry.

QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:11 AM) Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted to her desire to appear nude in a movie and has been looking for the right film for her naked debut. According to M&C, Catherine said, "Nudity just isn't a big deal for me. The reason I haven't done it so far is because I've never had a script that justices it come my way." Man....it's about time too. That old wrinkled prune, Michael Douglas, shouldn't be able to keep that body all to himself. Greedy bastard....lol (I'm trying to bring Sexyback....lol ) Instant Box Office gold right there! -
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) Bourne Ultimatum given 4 stars by USA Today. "(E)asily the best action thriller of the year." http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/review...ultimatum_N.htm Claudia Puig knows her stuff and doesn't give reviews like this to just anyone. ***1/2 in the Tribune. I can't wait to see this one!

Ya know, part of the reason the Mods got their reputation back in the late 60's was due to the fighting, drinking, and drugs. They were pretty boys, but ya didn't dare mess with any of them. Rod has had his fair share of tough times.

The least the government could do then is post a list on the internet of such bridges so that we have a knowledge of where things are a little less than "safe". -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) I read earlier that the bridge was also under construction at the time, with work done last night and more slated to be done tonight. I've heard it was just cosmetic though. It doesn't really matter if it was under construction, as there were lanes closed, but the bridge wasn't closed down. We all drive on bridges all the time under construction. Somebody doing the inspection a few years ago made a serious goof, or something freakish has happened since then. They'll know for sure what happened in a while. -

That Amy Winehouse album drives me crazy. Because of her logo and her name being "A" and "Wine", I always think it's a new release from April Wine when I see it in the papers. Drives me absolutely crazy.
