QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) I pulled out Young, Loud and Snotty by Dead Boys last night in remembrance. My kids dug it and my wife said it gave her a migraine. Still works like a charm! LOL!!! IMO, that album has the greatest ending song ever. Then with the door slamming at the end, well, pure magic! DOWN IN FLAMES!!! Might just beat up the next hippy I see Maybe I'll be beating up you! Stiv was the man. The greatest front man ever. The new issue of Sonic Ruin actually has my story of how Stiv saved me from a terrible beating.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) He only got those bands playing at CBGB because he couldn't get an audience for Country and Bluegrass ya know. The reasons don't really matter, IMO. He booked 'em.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) A studio copy was relased and from what I saw it's not even close to all "blood and gore". Variety hasn't "gotten" horror films in a long time so the review isn't a surprise. O.K. Here is Fangoria: http://www.fangoria.com/ghastly_review.php Here is Dread Central: http://www.dreadcentral.com/index.php?name...ent&id=1608 Obviously judge for yourself if you wish. But for myself, one who was not very interested in a remake of this film to begin with, I will trust the words of these two places. Especially since Dread Central is a BIG R. Zombie supporter, and it was Michael Gingold to do the Fango review. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Dude, chill out. LOL! Trust me, I'm perfectly fine. But thanks.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:05 AM) Several good points you draw upon. Particulary the Goblin's score, which is probably one of the most haunting soundtracks I've ever heard. It should be noted that films such as Fulci's Beyond and Argento's Suspiria are foreign equivalents of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween. You and I know, but anyone who doesn't these are well known abroad. My reasoning here is really not to attempt a remake to improve both films -- because that's unlikely -- but somehow infuse newer ideas, newer direction, into these movies to update them for a newer generation. The original will always be there. Hell, if it's bad, more the reason to appreciate Argento. Whom, by the way, has finished production on "The Third Mother," the final movie in the series which features Suspiria and Inferno. The expectations will be high for those who appreciate Suspiria. The difference between remaking Suspiria and Halloween is the American public is far less familiar with Suspiria. It may not guarantee returns in the box office (which alone would be enough for must studios), but the artistic license is limitless. IMO, that's reason alone to try and venture down that path. We've already tapped the Asian market -- why not the European as well? Demons is just waiting to be remade. Here's my one condition, though: no one touches The Cemetary Man (Dellamorte Dellamore). Only because the film is fairly recent and has held up time better than other European films. ANYBODY touches ANYTHING done by Soavi and I will have SERIOUS problems, especially Dellamorte.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) The links I gave him are for converters to take avi to vob, which is the DVD standard. Well aren't you special.

I think we are missing a major part of this though. He wants to CONVERT .avi to a DVD file. That's something most of these burn programs won't do.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 09:06 AM) Did you know Suspiria is being remade? Slated for release in 2008? These are exactly the type of films which should be pursued. Give the American public a taste of a movie they're unfamiliar with, while simultaneously shifting attention towards the original version. The Suspiria remake pisses me off more than any other probably. That is one that just CAN'T be re-done. It's Argento, in his prime. His style, his direction, is what makes it work. You can't tell me it's a great story that can be told again and again. The story is simple, it's what he did with the look that makes it a classic. It would be like remaking The Beyond almost. There is very little story, it was just an excuse for a director to show off his skills with atmosphere, color, and intense shocks. The other aspect of a Suspiria remake, who would they get to do the soundtrack? Hire Goblin again and you are obviously "remaking" it and fully intending comparisons. Don't hire them and you lose one of the key ingredients to what made the movie work.

Variety ripped the new Halloween. Supposedly Zombie takes all the mystery out of Meyers and turns the film into a blood and guts fest. I understand that Variety just doesn't like Horror, but everything in the review tells me that Zombie just doesn't "get it" when it comes to Halloween. Let him do remakes of the films he was obviously most influenced by, stuff like Last House On The Left and I Spit On Your Grave. I'll see this one on a double bill with the Texas Chainsaw and Psycho remakes. That means "never".

Well, you've been there so you're up on most of the population who owns the shirt. I never had too much of an interest in going there. Most of the bands that I associate with the name are gone, and have been for many moons. I also am not a HUGE fan of many of the bands that crawled out of there, but there are the good number that I am HUGELY in love with. But CBGB's was just a building. Hilly though made it happen, and he was instrumental in helping to change the face of music. He's the guy that booked the Dead Boys, and for that I respect the hell out of him.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 07:18 AM) DVDShrink... it shrinks the DVD's to ensure that they fit on a standard DVD +/- R - but the quality isn't as good because it's compressed. Having said that if you just want to watch them and aren't worried about quality so much, it's a good program. It compresses better than any others I have used also. Some of the ones I have pushed through this program look as good as the original with a LOT of compression.

RIP man. Probably end up being one of the biggest funerals in NY history. Probably one of the coolest also as far as a "whos who" list goes. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/29/arts/mus...amp;oref=slogin

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) There is nothing that is harder to accept than the death of someone so young. I had a roommate in college get killed by a drunk driver. It still stays with me to this day. When I was about 10 or so, one of my best friends had (has) a little brother. One of his little friends used to come around a lot. A little bit later the little guy fell through the ice on Crystal Lake and died. He had to only be 5 or 6. I named my son after him. This was close to 30 years ago, but I never forgot that little kid.

Somebody down the street from me is learning how to play the accordion. Annoying instrument that thing is. Nobody should have to go through this hell.

I don't touch anything in a bathroom with my hands. I use my feet, elbows, paper towel, anything but my hands. I hit that Where's George a little while ago and was intrigued by it. After entering about $20 into their system (with stamped "where's george" info on them) and having not heard anything in over a year (and never having heard anything), its charm went away.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) He most definitely had something to hide. A sober Forrest Gump might have jetted the f*ck outta there after crashing his car, though. O.K., so now we know what Devin Hester would do.

Remember the days when a band would list their tours on the backs of shirts and there would be atleast 100 dates??? I've noticed this more and more, a band goes on tour and only does about 20 dates. There really is no such thing as a "World Tour" anymore. Sad, really.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 01:57 AM) Kate Hudson is very, very cute. Not ugly, not gorgeous, not sexy, just... cute. Not as cute as her mom was in her prime though.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Superbad was pretty good. Had a couple laugh out loud moments but mostly chuckles. Not really worth the $10. Wait for the rental. That's what one of my buddies said. He's a comedy freak, watches nothing but, so I am actually taking his advice.
