QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) I believe the reasoning behind the release date is that Saw IV is coming out around October, and the makers of Halloween didn't want to compete with a very popular series from the same genre. That's the other reason I heard. Pretty sad when Halloween is afraid of competition.
  3. Huh, wouldn't the same go for the hitting? I know you want to get "at bats", but isn't there a BIG difference between having somebody hit off of a major league ready pitcher and hit off of a AA guy? So doesn't it make sense to just keep all of your starters out of the B game level?
  4. I just didn't know the starting pitching was the problem. Before I comment anymore, I will read the article. But I think many of the comments are due to the fact that most of the starting pitching has been fine. Our problem are those dang wood things you swing at the ball. Or so I thought. But what do I really know?
  5. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) They got him just in time. His new movie comes out August 31st. The Sox will clean up. But they really need Jason Voorhees for the perfect double plays.

H20 did come out in August, and it was the highest grossing Halloween flick next to the original. Granted it also must be realized that one championed the return of Laurie, so I don't know how much the month truely mattered. But you know the numbers dictated the release date.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) I think Zombie is going to take a little while to get the full grasp of what he is trying to do. His "growth" in the film business has probably been stunted a little bit by his foray into music, and his first couple films were probably just getting his feet wet, i expect a much better film and storyline out of Halloween. I saw something interesting on his wikipedia page: LOL, PeeWees playhouse warps another mind. anyhow, back to the discussion. right now Halloween is going to be quite a risky undertaking for Zombie if you ask me. The true fans of the franchise will probably reject it off hand without even seeing it(of course not all will do this), casual fans will see "remake" and walk away, and that leaves Zombie with the task of drawing in some new fans. So Zombie has to leave it all on the table with this movie, or else he is going to be the guy who came out with one movie that no studio would touch (House of 1000 corpses), a movie that met with a lukewarm reception(The Devils rejects), and a bad remake(Halloween). Im happy he did the right thing and at least will release the film on Halloween. When did they change the release date? I haven't heard that yet. I'm one of the fans of the original that plans to skip this version.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:20 AM) Who do most diehard horror fans like nowadays though? It seems that "diehard" fans of any genre are going to be disappointed in anything considered a throwback to their genre or anything new. Yeah, you have a point there. But the main complaint is that he might have the visuals down (to a certain degree), but he is missing the heart of the old stuff. I personally can't say, as I have yet to see any of his films. They just don't look interesting to me. I don't think there is a guy in the Horror world that anybody really is looking to with "savior" eyes. I think the one most fans agree is doing right by the genre in Del Toro. He doesn't dumb it down and you can tell he LOVES the genre. Zombie though is a total dividing line. You either love him or hate him. Kind of like Eli Roth and the whole torture film world.
  9. You would WANT to be buried in a mine? I understand the families grief and all, but do they really think that after 2 weeks there is any chance that these men are alive? 2 weeks with no food and water is tough to begin with, but in those conditions would be near impossible.
  10. I keep wanting to try sake. There was an episode of M*A*S*H though that kind of scared me of the stuff. Supposedly there is nothing as vicious as a sake-hangover, and they're easy to get.
  11. Dang, I'm sorry. I just sent you an email. Since you have a headache now, go easy on the headbanging that will follow with the email.
  12. I'VE F*****G HAD IT WITH RAIN!!!
  13. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Just watch Dog the Bounty Hunter. It should give you a good idea. I was going to suggest HAWAII 5-0, but I guess that is really dated. Don't bother with MAGNUM P.I., I think he was rich.
  14. Gang signs are kind of funny. Do you think they hire a contortionist to come up with their signs, and all he does is sit around all day with the leader showing him signs? Then finally when one is chosen he spends the rest of his career showing the members how to do it effectivley? Kind of like the military and doing a proper salute? How many of these sign contortionists have goofed up and accidentally flashed a "middle finger" sign and found himself dead? Ah, the troubles of being a Freelance Gang Sign Symbol Contortionist. They need to start a Union. Poor guys.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) Zombie has an incredible grasp of what made 70's horror movies so successful. He doesnt make any pretense of it being realistic, uses the gore to his advantage, and gives horror fans what they want to see. I think he is a great throwback to his genre, and I was really impressed with house of 1000 corpses. It reminded me of some of the older horror movies i used to watch with my cousin(Boogins, ghoulies, critters, re-animator, texas chainsaw massacre, Nightmare on Elm St, Friday the 13th). Im really looking forward to his interpretation of Mike Meyers and his origin. But most diehard Horror fans think the complete opposite. They feel he is getting better, but still missing the boat for the most part. I expect his Halloween to be the best of his work, but still completely void of what made the original the classic it is.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) I can't get any of my yard work done because of this rain. Somehow, this isn't making me happy. I agree, oddly enough. This summer has been crazy. Normally you get a little break from having to mow the lawn. But this summmer it's been growing like mad out there.
  17. I got myself a fine little collection of Drug Pushers, Prostitues, and Serial Killers from a police auction! REAL cheap.
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) Or maybe if Ozzie wants to get Bobby some work if the M's blow the Sox out today. But if they blow them out, then the M's are hitting. I'm thinking Ozzie puts Jenks in against a hitter he knows he can get out. If the Sox are down a bunch of runs, you don't dare put him in against Ichiro. Though I doubt Ichiro would still be in the game.
  19. Either that or he has to be set-up with a "sure thing". Maybe he can pitch to his own team soon?
  20. I guess I don't have the charge problem due to my working at a computer all day and night. I rarely use the thing on its own, without the computer. Even when I drive I use a charging FM transmitter. I still haven't tried to use it with my laptop with Vista on it though, as early warnings were that Vista version of iTunes could wipe-out the Pod. Anybody try it yet?
  21. Critic, are you finally deciding you like your Pod!?!
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) I'm gonna drink tonight. I'm so proud of you!!! I bought a new pillow today. Kohls has a half price sale going on, so I bought me a fancy ass pillow. I needed a new pillow, so I decided to go for something nice for once.
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) Of course I haven't - Michael hasn't sent it to me yet. I'm just going off of history. The wife LOVES Matchbox 20, but I'm just so-so on them. I have a couple of their songs on the Pod, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. I just didn't expect you to like them at all. I don't, but the single is really good.
  24. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Hey Butlerboy, have you heard it yet???
