Thanks for the info. I rarely touch links that are unknown to me, but it'd the other folks in my house that worry me.

I said LaKisha. I would bet that most of the remaining will outsell LaKisha. Honestly, in the world of Pop looks do have A LOT to do with it. Everybody attacks Simon for his brutal honesty, but why is Clay selling far more than Ruben? Clay had a radical make-over and is a pretty big success. Plus, in all honesty, that lisp of LaKisha's isn't doing her any favors. Sligh had one also.

Face it kids, who do you think will end up selling more albums: Sanjaya or LaKisha? Hayley or LaKisha? This is about commercial music, Pop music. LaKisha will have a longer career, no doubt. BUT in the short term, which is all the major labels care about, Sanjaya and Hayley will sell craploads more albums. The record label is praying for one of those two to win. Simon's desire for respect wants LaKisha, but his bankbook wants Sanjaya. This is why the producers won't step in.

Wow, Hayley makes it unwatchable? I wish somebody would tell me what is so much worse about her than 99% of the other crap that passes for "Pop". She's good looking, has a decent voice and lacks any form of real excitement. To me, she is EXACTLY what this show wants to have as the winner. Somebody who is workable in the studio, and somebody who can be shaped by all the "handlers". Sounds like the perfect Pop star to me. Sligh's personality at first was what won me over. As the time has gone on, his mediocre voice and personality REALLY started to wear on me. The only problem I have with his leaving is that the crap still remains. But in all reality I will never in a million years buy/download any release from an AI personality, so what do I care about this show and it's integrity (which it never had in the first place)? It's just a train wreck with some odd charm to it.

Ah, but according to the recent studies, "Sugar Rush" is nothing but a myth. There is no such thing. They also offer candies and other stuff to add to your cereal.

I heard the commercials on the radio about a month ago. They really push the "Every morning is Saturday morning here" thing. I guess what they do that is the appeal is that it isn't going in there and getting a bowl of Cheerios. You go in and order one of their concoctions. Stuff like 1 cup of Cocoa Puffs, 1 Cup of Peanut Butter CapN Crunch, 1 cup of Crunch Berries, 1 shot of Chocolate Syrup. That is the appeal. The stuff that WOULD cost you too much to make at home.

According to Yahoo, Blake doesn't deserve any form of credit for last night. I guess it was an exact copy of the 311 version of the song.

I'm trying to figure out what everybody heard in LaKisha last night. I thought she blew. I love how it was a night to do "Gwen Style" stuff, and LaKisha and Melinda were able to both do Donna Summers??? Come on. Phil sounds like a cross between whoever he is covering and Michael Bolton. Chris Sligh sucked eggs. Blake bored the pee out of me. He left out all the vocal coolness that Robert Smith uses to make The Cure interesting, and I am not a Cure fan. My wife likes Chris Richardson a bunch, I have no idea why. Her fave though is Jordin. I thought she started out terrible, and finally found her way. She sounded winded in the beginning. Hayley is a full package. She can sing well enough, and she looks great. In this day and age she is a decent enough singer that it really doesn't matter if she is a great singer. I don't think Blake has a huge future as a singer. That guy will leave the show and become one of the more sought after producers/arrangers out there. He's shown a good skill in these shows. Imagine what he could do with anything more than a week to prepare and execute. Sanjaya doesn't deserve comment.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Roy Orbison thought it was Clapton as well, they never told him the truth . . . Ya know...Orbison was not blind.

Curious, what part of that goes with Wilburys?

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Thank goodness Spring Training isn't a good indication. Correct me if I am wrong but weren't we just as bad in ST '05 and well... we all know how that turned out. I'm going to say 91 wins by the way. I was at the Milwaukee game at the end of Spring Training with The Critic. We both couldn't believe how bad they looked that night. We were hoping for something a little bit better than they had shown all ST that year, especially since the season was just about to kick off. They gave a little rally in the end of the game, but neither one of us left feeling all that great about the chances that year. Not at all.

90 1/2. That half will be a moral victory.

One of you guys said he should be stealing from a lesser known comedian than Cosby. This is true, but it also reminds me of something that happened recently. I used to be a writer for numerous Horror websites and a few magazines. I still hang out on numerous boards that are where a bunch of other writers hang. Last year one of the larger underground 'zines got busted for stealing movie reviews and claiming them their own. They stole from a larger named reviewer. Not a GIANT name like Ebert, but a larger name within the Horror circles. Once this happened and word got out, people started digging through the past issues, and spreading the reviews around to see if anybody else could claim ownership of the old reviews. What we learned was that this magazine had stolen the vast majority of their material, but mostly from lesser known writers, sites, fanzines. You have to wonder, if more people start to pay attention to him, and check out his material, we might start finding out that his entire routine is stolen, and mostly from the little known guys. He only started to go after Cosby due to being desperate and not finding good material one day.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) The man under the stairs always made me laugh. RIP to Calvert and to Chris Elliot's career. Chris was great on EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND though. He's one of those guys that when he does show up, you know he is going to be good, if not great.

CUTE!!! Here's to life getting a whole lot better, and starting to make sense!
-
Nah, the "Ain't No Mountain" is not bad. What are those, studio recordings the contestants do? Now then, the "You Really Got Me" was still pretty dang bad. Oh, but it must be said, one of the things that REALLY hurts the contestants who choose to do ROCK songs is that damn band. The tone on the guitar is TERRIBLE. Baldy would have sounded great on Tobacco Road had he done it with just the piano, as you heard with him and Noone. But then you move him into that band, and it goes to crap. NO GUTS ANYWHERE IN THAT STUPID HOUSE BAND.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) He'll make the perfect pop idol. They package him the right way with the limited stuff he can do right and he'll be a sensation. Go Sanjaya! w00t! And LOTS of computer help.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) Im sure it was just a joke not to be taken seriously, but I have a pretty wide variety. Im not a fan of rap or "R&B" though. My favorites off the top of my head are...Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Daughtry, Avril Lavigne, Taking back sunday, Houston Calls, Carrie Underwood, Sister Hazel. Yeah, it was a good natured ribbing, but I was very curious. Your saying you are not a R&B fan explains a lot though. I know you have said you kind of like Sanjaya, but it has to be more for the underdog role, as even out of the ones you mention, he is a FAR cry from being the best, in any way shape or form.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) Woohoo!!! My fab four are still alive! Sanjaya, Haley, Phil and Sligh! ...what is your CD collection like???
-
If the show didn't step in last night, I am not expecting them to anytime soon. That's the "top 10", which means that Sanjaya has made it onto the tour.
-
This is going to CRUSH my sister!!! She always LOVED him. He was so damn funny. Remember how great he and Chris Elliot made Letterman's show back in the old days?
-
QUOTE(Soxy @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) My sister and I discussed this and we think she might have some specialness in the form of a developmental delay. Or she is insane. Any of you see this from Vote For The Worst: Chris might just be the coolest cat to ever appear on this show if this is what happened! That's a pretty gutsy thing to do. Did any of you realize that VFTW is based out of Chicago?

Sanjaya is a friggin' joke. He should have done the Herman tune, as it fits his silly a s s much better. Gina, holy crap that sucked. Nobody has ever done a good version of "Paint It Black" (even the Stones barely pull it off), but that was friggin' ridiculous. Phil, eh, it was O.K. I liked the bra-less Hayley. Though, even with a bra it would have been a well done number. The choreography worked with the song well, the anti-bra bit was just bonus points and exactly what she needed to do to really cement herself into the minds of people. Not sure if it has ever been said before, but I think sex sells.
