  1. Crap man, I started my own magazine, website, and podcast dedicated to bands not in the mainstream...now I have to try and enlighten you folks here also!?!
  2. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 07:18 AM) Any chance that family is Jewish? Probably not, but I'll bet a shiney quarter that they're idiots.
  3. The only award I would care to win would be the the Rondo Hatton Award: http://classichorrorfilmboard.com/rondos/rondos.html
  4. Microwave popcorn is one of the devils tools. There are few things worse than going to somebodies house, them saying "how about some popcorn" and then they return with the vile bag of putrid popped crap. It soils all things that are the beauty of REAL popcorn. Whoever invented that stuff needs to be forced to live on a steady diet of butter flavored animal lard.
  5. Lord, how I hate to do this... ...sigh... KISS actually has nothing but complete respect for their fans. Part of the reason for the insane amount of merch for them is the fact that they know their fans actually want that crap. If the fans weren't buying it up like they were, then KISS wouldn't be selling it. I'm not surprised to see Gene making these comments, they fit him perfectly. That is all KISS, they are all about the fans and giving the fans exactly what they want, nothing less and many times way more than what they want. I say this as an admitted non-KISS fan.
  6. I'm listening to the Goo Goo Dolls third album right now, Hold Me Up. Every time I go back to their early days I am always amazed by how great they were. They oddly enough though never lost what made them great, they just got stale with it and overused their own formula to death. But the three albums, whooo-doggy...great albums.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) You're right, the Stark the modeled Downy on was the original, millionaire playboy with just a bit of the military-industrial background thrown in. I think a lot of the hype about Downy being perfectly cast was reverencing the ironic, before the film came out when it was not really known how much of a role Stark's alcohol addiction would play in the story. Turns out, it wasn't that much. I disagree that Selleck would ever have been good for the part. I actually think the perfect casting, in terms of both the brooding conflicted nature, and in terms of an homage to the Clark Gable look of the classic comic book Stark would have been Ralph Fiennes. That would have been the best casting job ever, maybe. Fiennes is maybe a bit too thin, but otherwise yeah, he could work. Selleck has much of the looks of Stark though, height and build. The thing about the booze-hound variation of Stark is that it didn't last for very long in the books. Well, the actual problem years. He is still sober in the books (exception being Iron Man: Viva Las Vegas in which he does drink, plus recent turns in the Marvel 616 Universe might lead him to drinking again...), but obviously an alcoholic. But that is still the Stark everybody thinks of when they think of Stark.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) I thought Terrence Howard was so-so, and that Downey Jr. did a good job encapsulating the conflicted, Tony Stark A-hole persona, although the film took a lot of liberties and made him more solidly a good guy by the end of the film compared to the Stark of comic book canon. I thought Jeff Bridges was just about perfect in his role. Well, Stark from later years, not the Stark that is presented in the early books. The early Stark isn't really a jerk in any way other than constantly giving Pepper a little run-around, which is done for the same reason that Matt Murdoch gives Karen Page the run around in Daredevil. I like Downey Jr. for the most part, but I don't agree with a lot of the people who say he is perfect as Stark. Tom Selleck in his prime would have been a perfect Stark.
  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) I'd sell for a couple of rounds of drinks and a handjob. I see you've "upped" your prices.
  10. I like Goff when he calls out Boers and Bernstein for the jerks or idiots that might come across as. But usually he ends up sounding worse than either of them at some point. As for B&B drop by guys, I wish Holmes was at a better time. He is by far one of the best talents in Chicago. His voice is great and his knowledge is great. Plus he knows how to handle callers and guests perfectly. He never comes across as arrogant, but always lets the people know when he seriously finds them at fault and himself correct. Thank you for the answer to who Woo Woo is. I wasn't sure if she was just a worker there or if it was just another code name for a known personality (Johnny Cakes). I still am not too sure if she is a real person though, or just a figment of Terry's imagination.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Typically they keep those a building or two over. I'm not kidding. Well, if they are attempting to conquer the world, they may have busted out of that building.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) Random sound of metal banging together behind me in my office. Any giant Earth conquering robots around the office by any chance?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) What the Hell was that noise? Missed it. Can you describe this noise?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) Scary Bat voice doesnt bother me as much as it does everyone else. What is Batman gonna do, run around and not change his voice? Someone would recognize it. It doesnt sound good, but I dont know what would sound good. The main complaint I saw was that he even used the Scary Batvoice around Alfred and others who knew he was Batman.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) Bad. Ass. I'll give it to you that it does look cool, but folks who complained about the "scary Batman voice" have 2 straight minutes to complain about there! Do you think he does the Scary Bat for the whole film?

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) Disagree - I think Borat is one of the best films of the last 10 years. It's too bad you didn't get it. I "got it" and I "didn't like it".

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) could have been that, I was watching a blue ray on a 46 inch tv though. I would have to say "nope...wasn't the theater aspect then". Seems you just didn't like the flick much.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) I didn't think it was that great of a movie period. It had it's moments, but to me it was pretty boring. Oh thank the Lord! For all the love this film gets, I was afraid I would be torn apart for not really liking it. The people here at work thought I was crazy for not finding it that funny.

I just saw BORAT for the first time the other night. Was not much of a fan of it. I found the social/racial stuff interesting, but there was way too much sex stuff. Yeah, I'm a prude I guess.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) Well, let's not jump to conclusions. You have no idea how many times that car ran her over.
  21. On Santo? No way man, he's 100% wrasslin' power through and through. No artificial b.s. on that guy anywhere!
  22. He has been making some great films in Mexico for YEARS now...I would be pissed too if I kept getting snubbed like that.
  23. Do you think they could get him a room with Ryan??? That would be pretty nice. Maybe they could just start an "Illinois Government Wing" of the jail.
