  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) This is my favorite song by The Fixx, Secret Separation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkL3sfs0Y18 I liked Saved By Zero but it's been played out, as has One Thing Leads To Another. Is it the guy in the diaper that wins the song over for you?
  2. Lack of listening to the radio has saved almost every popular song I like from being played out to me.
  3. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 03:07 AM) That story is fake, but a funny story. How do you know it is fake?
  4. That commercial and the dang Subway $5 footlong jingle drives me friggin' crazy. The original Fixx song sucked also. But I love, love, LOVE "One Thing Leads To Another".

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) Whaa? I have heard its the best Bond in 20 years That's what the early word was, but since it was released in Europe (or just the UK), it has been being torn to shreads.
  6. Pretty sure this is the BBQ joint: http://www.southstreetsmokehouse.com/home.html
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) The Phillies have been complaining a lot about how the whole suspended game/no idea when they'd be playing for the TV schedule thing worked out. And this is Philadelphia. They'd boo Jesus. Well, to be fair, when you have the Phanatic everybody else is pretty much second rate.
  8. Well, I guess along with being happy for the Phanatic, it's cool for Moyer. He has all ready said he plans to retire, right? So that's a cool way to go out.
  9. But...Buck just said "in the middle of the mayhem on the field"...surely Buck knows excitement when he sees it...right???
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) I'm so happy for the Philly Phanatic. I was just going to post the same thing!!!
  11. That might be the most anti-climatic ending I have ever seen, and I was hoping for a Phillies win even.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) So, I have to spend the day, a week from today, down at Purdue doing some recruiting. Anyone have advice on where to get lunch? Or any tips on getting in and out of town? There is a GREAT BBQ joint down there, but I can't remember the name. Some of the best sauce I have ever had.
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) No never feel comfortable clicking on links in sigs. But I did think about clicking on yours once or twice. Promise I will get around to it cause I love ya kid. Aw shucks, thanks! I recommend the one that says it is the website. The top one, the big one, is a link to the My Space site. The one under that is the actual site with the reviews that have been in the print 'zines and the new reviews for the website. There is also a link there for the podcast I do.
  14. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Yeah, you can find the same people in the same threads pretty consistently. Kind of like how the blagojevich thread has turned from "This guy is a total douchbag" to "the democrats this, the republicans that" Its all the usual suspects Hey, keep that 'buster junk out of here! This is a SERIOUS thread, not some silly political b.s.!!!
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Kid I cant imagine you like'n any new bands that are out. I presume you have never followed the links at the bottom of my signature? The only thing I cover in my fanzine, podcast, and website are pretty much new bands. If you see me mentioning favorite bands such as Faces, The Damned, The Replacements, those bands are favorites due to standing the test of time. There is no way I would name The Valentine Failures (a new band) as my favorite due to their not being around long enough yet. They are a favorite of right now for sure, along with Urgencies, but not "of all time". Do I like the stuff on the radio? Hell no, but I haven't liked that stuff since I was in 6th grade. I prefer the underground. But 90% of what I listen to are new bands. The old stuff bores me to tears. I am always looking for new bands.
  16. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Come on, you didn't like anything off of Bleach or Incesticide? I like Bleach and that is it. I've hated Nevermind ever since it came out. Never really bothered with the other one as I didn't like the tunes I heard from it. Nevermind was the old man - out of touch music fan "go-to" album when it came out, and for years after. When somebody would try and impress people by saying how cool they were and in touch with the music scene they were, they would always break out their copy. But the second you put on Bleach those same people would cover their ears and run. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 11:30 PM) Not a fan of the Foo Fighters? Bush? Pearl Jam? ANYTHING grunge/post-grunge? There is a great band hiding somewhere in Foo Fighters, but then Grohl goes and gets all "radio friendly" or whatever and screws up what could be a good thing. He sure can write a pretty solid ROCK song, but he only does one an album pretty much. Pearl Jam's 10 was a really good album, but that was more of a Mother Love Bone album than a Pearl Jam, and they have proven that by MLB's Apple being the only thing Gossard and Ament have done in their catalogue that actually resembles 10. Post-grunge bands? Does that mean "bands that are more or less Grunge but since that is no longer a cool term we call them something else", or do you just mean any new bands? I like LOTS of new bands, but the majority of the bands I like have nothing to do with Cobain in any way shape or form.
  17. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 26, 2008 -> 04:46 PM) I'm running for President in 2024 to find out what I can on Aliens. I'll report back to soxtalk when I gain access to these secrets. I know a guy who works for NASA and has worked for the defense department, or something of the sort. He's always getting top secret type of stuff. So for years I would bug him about aliens, always asking if they existed. He always responded with "I can't answer that" type of stuff. Never giving an inch because I was asking about stuff he had seen on his desk. Finally, one night while drinking, I had a brainstorm on the perfect way to get info from him that would NOT cause him to reveal any of his top secret stuff! "So...tell me...do YOU believe in aliens and UFOs????" He looked at me with a half smile, knowing I got him finally! "Yes." He said back. I felt pretty damn victorious! As I took off jumping in joy he yelled back to me "HEY!" I turned around and looked at him as he stood there smiling still "Somebody would have to be pretty foolish to not believe in something else being out there...space is pretty damn big you know."
  18. I have no problem in admitting that almost everything makes me tear up. My 11 year old daughter even laughs at me. Hell man, commercials, TV shows, you name it, if it has an emotional scene in it, I will tear up. It sucks. The single most evil movie known to man? My Life - Start to finish crying like a little baby. Worst thing about it? The movie sucked. I even had tears during Patch Adams!!!
  19. I have to admit it, I love this kind of thing. It's like the fine art thiefs, you almost like rooting for them just for the smarts that goes into it and how they pull this stuff off without anybody being physically hurt.
  20. Did I really just see a discussion on a SPORTS board about how wearing jersey's looks silly if you are past a certain age??? Really??? On THIS site of all sites??? That just seems weird.
  21. So they are NOT the Irish version of "Thunder From Down Under"??? That would have been an interesting "first night out".
  22. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:16 AM) Don't we all. Nirvana is one of my favorites. Not one friggin bit.
