TJ McCants in his first 3 games: 5-12 with a 3B, 2 HR, a walk, and a SB for a casual 1.545 OPS. Also plays a nice CF. I like him. Jeral Perez also hit his first HR as a Sox today: https://www.milb.com/video/jeral-perez-s-solo-homer?t=playerid-800419

Siberian Shohei? ?

If Bastita has competition for being the most underrated acquisition, it's maybe Juan Carela. He breezed through 6IP/0ER tonight on a bunch of weak contact early in counts. The Barons also threw a shutout, with the Smith-Njigba's first inning HR enough to secure the 1-0 win. Neither team did much offensively otherwise, the game was a quick one.

Aldrin Batista is maybe the most underrated acquisition of the past two years? He's been ridiculous since his well deserved promotion to WS, with 15K in 9IP across his first two starts at the level. Rosado (DeJong return) followed him up with two scoreless, and Pallette finished the last 2IP of the shutout for his second save. 12K to just 1BB for the staff. WS won 2-0. It was a little revenge for Bergolla (Banks trade) vs. the Philly A+ club, since he scored one of the runs and knocked in the other. There was a scary moment when he got accidentally drilled in the helmet by the catcher trying to throw to 1st while he was at the plate, but he stayed in the game. Nishida was 2-4 with a BB.

Kanny had the tying run at the plate in the 9th, but ultimately dropped their game 5-2. Perkins has pretty nasty stuff. IF defense was a little lackluster, there were a couple "hits" that felt playable. Wolkow was 2-3 with a BB and no (!!) strikeouts. 8 hits for the team, only 1 for extra bases (a Jeral Perez double).

I thought Eder could have gone another inning, but he's done after 81 pitches: 5IP, 3ER, 3H, 4BB, 5K. 16 whiffs. Could maybe have saved a run or two if not for getting burned by steals early (6SB in the first 2 innings). Perez is catching. Only two baserunners over his final 3 innings, both walks, one picked off and one caught by a GIDP. Peralta threw 2 perfect innings in relief. Gus Varlard (LAD waiver claim) also threw a perfect inning. Coffey threw a not perfect inning, loading the bases in the 9th...but he danced out of it without allowing a run. As for the position players: Colas 1-4 with a 2B and RBI but 3K. He also made a poorly advised throw from RF that nearly allowed the go ahead run to score in the 9th. Elko also 1-4 with a 2B and 3K. Montgomery, believe it or not, also 1-4 with a 2B (but only 1K for him). Ramos 0-3 with a BB. Game is headed to extras tied at 3.

Mason Adams heads to the 7 day IL after leaving his AAA debut early Canaan Smith-Njigba joins the Barons roster.

QS for Iriarte, who gave up 3R (2ER) over 6IP. His strikeouts have been down (only 3 today) but it's still his third consecutive QS.
-
Yeah, Nick Nasty might be back. He finishes with 6IP, 1ER, 2H, 2BB, 7K. Relieved by Matt Foster with a 2-1 lead.
-
Nastrini retired his first 10 in order before Torkelson ambushed a first pitch FB for a solo shot. He's looked good otherwise through 4IP, mixing pitches well and velo maybe up a tick from his last few outings.

Excellent thread on Quero below. I recommend reading it in full, but the main takeaways: He's made a swing adjustment to lift and pull more, leading to both better results (HR, SLG) and also underlying metrics (EV, HH%, HR/FB%) He's producing as well as he has despite being younger than the opposing pitcher for a ridiculous 98.5% of his pro ABs

I remember the trade being declared a loss a few days in because Mena hit 95 on a ST gun for Arizona.

Kopech w/LA 5 games, 5 IP, 8 Ks, no walks. ERA 0.00, 1-0.
Autumn Dreamin replied to hankchifan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kopech in his last 5 games with the Sox: 5.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1H, 1BB, 8K and an immaculate inning. It's almost like he just has good stuff. -
Benny and LRJ traded bats.

Knights got walked off after a two out rally to tie things up in the 9th. Montgomery vs. velocity has been a topic of discussion. He nailed this 98.5mph fastball for a 106.8mph EV single: DeLoach extended his on base streak to 11 games. He's been on in 27 of his last 28. The most important guys (Colson, Ramos, Elko, Quero, DeLoach, Colas) all got on base at least once with 5 hits and 7 walks between them, but all of the hits were singles and only Colas got more than 1 hence the low score.

Barons won 9-5. Gonzo 1-2 with a 2B and 3 BB. Veras heating up? 3-5 with a 2B today and on a 5 game hitting streak (9-21 with 3 BB, a double, and a HR. Gladney staying hot. 2-4 with a 2B today, and .412/.474/.824 through his first 4 games at AA. Eric Adler finally ended a 9 AB Christian Moore on base streak with a K. Kinda expecting an AFL assignment for Adler.

Knights win 11-5. Should probably start seeing some of these guys in a week. Ramos 2-5 with a 2B Quero 3-5, DeLoach 2-5 Elko 2-4 with 2 HR and a BB Montgomery 1-5 with a 3B and 2 RBI Colas 1-5 with a HR. Foster had a perfect 2K inning in his rehab. McGough (Eloy trade) put up another 2 IP scoreless. He's given up 1BB, 1 single, and no runs since the trade (3G/6IP) Coffey threw a perfect 2K 9th. Rooting for him to make it as a leverage guy because "coffey is for closers".

Elko hit another ?
-
Mason had some uncharacteristic control struggles in his AAA debut. He went 3+ IP, got pulled after a leadoff walk in the 4th with a possible injury. Nothing that seemed too visibly apparent, but he left with a trainer. Schultz was mostly Schultzy. 3.1IP, 3H (all singles), 1ER, 2BB, 5K. 64 pitches. The run came on a HBP > WP > single in the 4th.
-
Knights are cooking. 12 hits through 4, HRs from Elko and Colas. They lead 9-2.
-
Payton single, Ramos RBI double, Quero single, DeLoach RBI single, Montgomery 2 RBI triple for four runs in the first inning.
