Eh, his xBA against is .227, he's elite at avoiding barrels, and his xERA is under 3. I think it really is mostly bad luck through a small sample size.

One thing that endeared me to EQ early is that he really does know the zone, hates when the ump doesn't (on either side of the ball), and isn't shy about showing it. Shortly after the trade his pitcher was getting squeezed in Birmingham. Perfect pitch, perfectly caught and presented, called a ball. He was still relatively new to the team so no reason to be too personally invested quite yet...except that it was his staff now and that was a strike. So he tilted his head a bit, and took a moment to sweep some dirt off the plate as if to say "Maybe you just didn't see it, blue, let me help you out." Wildly endearing.

Wallner has 21 HR but just 36 RBI somehow? For comparison, Sosa has 19 HR and 62 RBI. Colson has 40 RBI in ~120 fewer ABs.

Wik might be a bit cold after sitting, should get someone up in the pen just in case.

Exactly. Rocco had an option for next season that they already picked up. But he might want out at this point too so who knows.

Maybe they spare Rocco and fire the pitching coach Maki instead? Turns out it's actually not easy getting passable results out of scrap heap pen arms. Really would like them to keep Rocco, worst manager in the division in my opinion.

When he gets the save at Fenway next August after Teel and the recently called up Braden Montgomery take Crochet yard, we will have definitively won the trade.

Depends on how you're defining "when he lost his command" I guess, he's always walked guys. But his best two starts (7.2IP 3ER and 7IP 1ER) were both caught by Quero, one in April and one in July. He's allowed 6+ runs 4 times. Three were caught by Teel, one by Thaiss. None by Quero. He's allowed 1 or 0 runs over 5+ innings 3 times. Two were caught by Quero, one by Thaiss. None by Teel. He has 5 quality starts. 4 were caught by Quero, one by Thaiss. None by Teel. I just think Quero calls him better, or at least that the possibility is worth exploring.

Well have you considered that if they hadn't played well enough to win 3 games, they could have lost them instead?

And yet statistically it hasn't. He walks more guys throwing to Teel. If Quero costs something in framing, I think he makes up for it in getting better results from better sequencing.
