  1. Obviously the scouting director has a lot of input on the 1st round pick, no?
  2. There's a legit possibility that the entire left side of the IF gets DFA by next June. The only thing that might prevent it is Montgomery and Ramos not being ready yet. They're stuck with Moncada and they're going to pick up TA's option even if they shouldn't.
  3. I was talking about Pallette, not Schultz.
  4. Mike Shirley also just drafted Jacob Gonzalez and I can't really defend that selection. Hoping for the best obviously, but I'm not sure that guy was really the best player on the board. I'm also not a fan of the "guy looked good in the Cape Cod league, then got TJS" college pitcher 2nd round pick he's done 2 years in a row. Shirley may be an upgrade on Hostetler, but I'm not sure he's great.
  5. Then Jerry better be willing to put the money where his mouth is. Honestly, as a fan anything short of another rebuild is more likely to bring apathy from me. There is no other way out, from a realistic standpoint.
  6. Because it's better than the alternative. There's a higher chance of winning baseball going through another tank job than trusting this FO to piecemeal a team together. The tank job has maybe a 5% chance of success with this FO but the piecemeal approach is much less than 1%. Last I looked 5% is greater than .01%. Quite frankly I'd rather go through another tank job than waste seasons hoping that the majority of the roster hits their 80th+ percentile projections simultaneously.
  7. If they're not cutting payroll, Nola fits the Benintendi mold of a guy they loved in the draft that becomes available. If they are cutting payroll, then obviously Nola is out of their price range.
  8. It was sarcasm. Only the three stooges running the Sox take it seriously.
  9. But but Kenny said you can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents
  10. I was going to post that if you didn't
  11. Moncada had his first XBH since early June tonight. He actuallly had two. Also, he looks like he has his eye at the plate back because he's actually been taking walks again. Not to say that any of it matters, but I guess a good sign? They're paying him $29M next year anyway so hopefully he can recover enough to be tradeable next year.
  12. Both Clevinger and the Sox have to pick it up. After Clevinger embarrassed the Sox with his off field behavior I expect them to pay him his $4M to go away.
  13. Yeah, I wonder if 2005 even happens without Jerry having the Bulls money.
  14. I wonder how many championships Jerry wins if he didn't inherit Michael Jordan.
  15. Speaking of Vaughn, I thought I might put this in here.
  16. Great play by Vaughn. Have yourself a game It would actually be nice if he started living up to his potential.
