  1. Martin is a fucking beast
  2. If he can play shortstop, and he's fast and has a good arm, I bet he can figure out center field. Wouldn't be the first guy. He has been quite bad, but he is just 24. Not that Vargas is necessarily an all-star, but when he was 24 and traded to the Sox, he posted a .387 OPS and racked up -1.0 WAR in 42 games. Now he looks like a competent third baseman and on pace for 30 home runs. His improvement has been incremental I'd give him more than a month, it's not like there's necessarily a rush. I'd like it if we won a bunch of games this year, but it still feels like a year to see what kind of players we have. If he ends up being totally useless, maybe you sign a guy like Varsho next season to play CF. I think Acuña still shows some promising underlying metrics on both sides of the ball, it'd be a shame to DFA him and let some guy with little upside like Peters or Hill play the spot every day. Off topic, but speaking of Vargas, our man has a .798 OPS with a .197 BABIP. It's likely he doesn't hit 30 dingers, but you also might expect the BABIP to even out to, like, .260.
  3. I didn't love the idea of trading for Acuña to have him play CF, but he won't remain 5th percentile with his tools. The guy only has 600ish professional innings in the outfield compared to ~5000 in the infield. There's gonna be a learning curve. He's looked a little lost out there compared to his infield play. And the sample size is so small...Robert is 42nd percentile this season when he was 93rd last year, 98th in 2023. Fuckin Luis Arraez of all players is 99th percentile range after being 4th last season, 1st the season prior. Nobody believes he suddenly learned how to play defense at age 29.
  4. Interesting how quickly things can change with pitchers. Yankees just optioned Luis Gil. He looked like a star after his 2024 ROY season but has started this year season a 6+ ERA. I bet Smith is still an MLB caliber pitcher but I've generally preferred Burke's potential as a top of a rotation arm. If all goes well with Schultz, Smith and McDougal (and eventually Oppor) Smith is redundant anyway.
  5. Great game. Worth staying up 😴🥱. Hudson was a nice pickup.
  6. oh I'm delayed...this motherfucker.
  7. I think Mune Man is about to hit his first double of the year

  11. "chases that one out of the zone" right down the middle pitch
  12. I'm a couple blocks away from the park and the lightning is intense and constant. Postponement seems like the right idea.
  13. Specifically in contact with his head since the helmet is touching his stomach while tagged. The equipment has to be in the ‘appropriate place’.
  14. maybe O'Hare gets a direct flight to Tokyo. get it done, man on the mune.
  15. Nasim Nuñez should've been taken by the Sox in the Rule 5 draft 2 years ago and then that never would've happened.
