White Sox considering Rojas, Meidroth at SS
WhiteSox2023 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It’s just a goofy GM rambling to show off all his new player acquisitions. He is also making up smoke to preemptively defend his decision to hold Montgomery down a few weeks to ensure the extra year of control. Also, I doubt Meidroth will play SS instead of 2B when he is eventually called up. -
Absolutely ruthless.

Turning 32 in a month. Which season looks like the outlier? https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/profaju01.shtml So bad.
-
Yep, via a press release rather than facing the media. 🤣

If history says anything, it will say that this was a terrible contract the second Profar signed his name to it.

Jerry would love it. Anything to deflect the blame away from the true root cause. Him.

Connor McKnight joins White Sox broadcasts on CHSN
WhiteSox2023 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
McKnight is like the exact opposite of Schriffen. He is completely vanilla, so I can see your point. They need to find someone in between vanilla like McKnight and completely over the top like Schriffen. -
Do you think they will televise his hate speech about “the constant drone of sarcastic trolls, Cubs fans, and know-it-alls hating on the Sox, or trying their best to depress true Sox fans, their friends and even their own children from attending White Sox games or enjoying the players and the games”?

Tim Anderson agrees to minors deal with LAA

Probably, but he was also the cause of the more recent personal issues. -
Tim Anderson agrees to minors deal with LAA
WhiteSox2023 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thank you! I never knew about that trick. Looks quite a bit better if you subtract his last two awful seasons, but still not “star” level. .288/.316/.442/.759 -

It’s a bit strange that a guy with the career line below was once considered a burgeoning star player. .278/.308/.411/.718 I know the last two seasons have hurt his overall career numbers. Is there any way to see his career line right after the 2022 season? -
Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
WhiteSox2023 replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He’s usually optimistic until Jerry gives him a reason not to be, which unfortunately is often. Then he rightfully unloads on Jerry. I would say he’s one of the most fair and balanced posters on SoxTalk. -
The Guardians actually dumped a decent reliever to make room for Sewald. ”Guardians designated RHP Pedro Avila for assignment. Avila gets the boot from Cleveland’s 40-man roster to free up a spot for veteran high-leverage relief arm Paul Sewald. The 28-year-old righty was a revelation last year for the Guardians, posting a strong 3.25 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 73/30 K/BB ratio across 74 2/3 innings (50 appearances). He’s a virtual lock to be claimed off waivers in the coming days.”

No love for Sosa because he was good for one month. The rest of the time he has played, he has been weak in the field and corkscrews himself into the ground at the plate trying to hit 500 foot dongs like Juan “Tasmanian Devil” Uribe. But this roster is a giant suckfest so Sosa should get every opportunity to play a lot of games.

Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
WhiteSox2023 replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Neither is a difference of .076 in OPS. Busch also had 52 less plate appearances than Vaughn last season. Busch would have been the Sox #2 ranked player in WAR after Crochet last season and their highest ranked position player in WAR by far. After three seasons of bad performances, it’s pretty surprising that multiple posters in this thread said they would choose Vaughn over Busch, much less any other 1B. Vaughn is awful, and now he has strung together four straight seasons of bad performances. -

WhiteSox2023 replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A remarkably close season? Ummm, no… Andrew Vaughn: .699 OPS / 0.2 bWAR Michael Busch: .775 OPS / 2.8 bWAR You weren’t even close. Your boy AV couldn’t even OPS above .700. -

I should have taken this bet. Vaughn still blows and Busch is definitely better. -

Anthony Santander signs with TOR 5/$92.5
WhiteSox2023 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m guessing you don’t go around telling people that they should send their kids to therapy in person, just on the Internet. That’s how someone gets smacked upside the HEED. -

41-121. Jerry is the one to blame. -
Smart man.

WhiteSox2023 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Imagine someone making snide comments about another poster’s children just because they have the strange obsession to defend Jerry and Getz, an awful MLB owner and GM, to the bitter end. I won’t even try to understand that sort of insanity. -
Yep, that’s my only guess. Scholtens is more of a long man and Getz knows this awful team will need him to throw a lot of innings in garbage time. 🤣

You are already far ahead of many posters at the acceptance stage. Take your kids to the nearest ballpark and one-handed swing a few dingers. They can cheer for you over the Sox current collection of scrubs. -
That would make sense if Scholtens was any good to begin with, but he isn’t. Marinaccio is better.
